    The Ultimate Van Build Journey:
In Season 1 of the van build, we stripped off the old DPD stickers, rust-proofed the entire van, painted it our favorite matte grey color, redesigned the cab, planned our van's design / layout, created our epic water tanks, built our custom panorama roof windows, installed new wheels, & installed an insulated floor! PHEW! Building a home is something else! bit.ly/LM_SEASON1
Then Season 2 of the van build rolled around, and with our workshop's renovation behind us, it got TECHNICAL! We built a 47 degree solar tilt (1kW of solar power!), made custom seat bases & installed our custom seats, we took security to the NEXT level, breaking down our 12 incredible layers of security, wired everything our tech-dependent home will need, created the BEST insulation we've ever seen in a campervan (check out our video on campervan insulation & cold camping insulation), installed our own custom security cameras, framed the ceiling, AND created our peak-a-boo curtains. WOW!! We are beyond ready to be off grid in this Ducato van home! ❤️ bit.ly/LM_SEASON2
Now Season 3 of the Van Build is kicking off in our brand new space, allowing us to work regardless of the weather or time of day! This is going to be the most exciting phase of this van life build yet!! bit.ly/LM_SEASON3

    🐾 Who are we?
We’re Ladi (from Czechia) & Margaret (from USA) and we love eBikes, campervans, & cats. In 2020 our van life lifestyle flipped upside down, & we needed to stop traveling in our camper to lockdown in eastern Czech Republic due to the pandemic. With no travel plans and some new time on our hands, we decided to sell our old van, start an electric bike business, begin a youtube channel, build our ultimate dream campervan, renovate a junkyard into a tiny house homestead, plan a container & upper workshop space… well, some other smaller projects in-between 😅.
What we thought would only be 6 months of “stillness” has become 2 years of innovation, progress, and so much fun, and most of that is thanks to YOU. Although we’re excited to be back on the road and traveling the world again soon, we’re so thankful to lay a foundation here in Central Europe & bring you with us on this crazy journey. Thank you for supporting us and being part of this incredible community!

Have to comment - you put people off of a fireplace but I have a 4kw wood burner and it is the BEST. Heats the van up quickly, and not only gives heat via air, but gives out energy across a spectrum of radiation frequencies. Heated air is nothing compared to a fire. The fire in the van becomes the heart and gives so much never ending pleasure. Nothing beats being parked in nature, sliding door open, having a nice tea beside the fire. Had it in fulltime vanlife for 5 years. Served well in conditions of minus 30 Celsius. You just have to be a mindful person. Pay attention to the smell, the stove clicks, and watch over the pipe temperature, also careful for coals rolling out of the stove. 5 years, no problems. I’m about to add a diesel heater to just run for the mornings, just to warm the bed and allow me enough comfort to start the fire. But really only needed for extreme winter temps. This will compliment the fire nicely. Oh and for anyone not liking the idea of constantly putting wood in every 45 minutes, it’s not true! Maybe with a tiny one, but I have a small cast iron stove that not only stays hot for longer, but I sometimes don’t need to tend to it for like 2 hours.. I can slow burn the wood and then let the coals sit for a while. I can fit pieces in the length of about 0.3 meter.

I am with you on the "warm up the feet" once my feet are cold that's it and it takes forever to warm them again, Brilliant foot ledge/storage it has always bothered me that Van's have swivel seats and you see people dangling their feet, not comfy at all your solution is great.

Before I bought a Chinese diesel heater, I watched John's entire series and learned so much! I also have an outlet under my bed so the temperature in the van is the same everywhere which prevents condensation. I have a 2kw and the same size van and that's more than enough but I have the cabin closed off which make a huge difference in climate control.

Another great video thank you. The exhaust for the diesel heater needs to clear the chassis of your van. Just like your exhaust pipe you don't want exhaust from your diesel heater to start accumulating underneath the van it will seep up into the compartment

Found it hard to believe more folks didn't comment about clearing the underside of the van for exhaust. And, I'd put a detatchable pipe on the end of the mufflers to clear the side better. A small wind could shove the CO2 right back under the van. You may have saved some lives.

    Hi
I have fitted the same heater and it is fantastic, but you must change the green silicon pipe for the white nylon the green pipe it degrades over a time and also the internal bore of it is larger and makes air in the system causing start up problems .The white nylon pipe kit iOS cheap enough on Ebay .

I've never had an issue with my bed being cold for very long even without heat at all and even in -30F weather. Lots of blankets and a memory foam matteress, plus a 12v electric blanket to preheat the bed (on a timer that turns it off after 45 minutes) was plenty. Getting out of bed on those cold mornings, though.... That was an adventure. This winter, though, I have a diesel heater.

Those chinese heaters are great. One thing to mention: Both Webasto and Eberspacher mention the pump to be installed as close to the fuel tank as possible, and run the 'long' distance between pump and heater. In your setup this probably doesnt matter since its only a very short run anyway, but worth to mention.
Also, make sure you have at least a spare glowplug. Those tend to fail regulary compared to a real expensive one, but they are cheap, so better have them in stock.

Green hose is OK before they pump/filter never after. Thanks again.

So why would your hidden compartment cover not warp? Or is this something you find acceptable? And am i to much of a nitpicking non-experienced woodworking dabbler? Cheers

The diesel heater doesnt just run without power. it needs substantial Omph while starting up for glowplug and running electic cost is also a thing to consider (so you dont kill your batteries).

You could insulate the diesel pump so you can't hear the clicking and it also doesn't jam up in the winter.

Out of curiosity, and noticing your 3D printers are all enclosed, I was wondering what type of filament you used or are using for your Van's magnet holders and other van projects. I created a friction style throttle lock for my Africa Twin from a Thingiverse download using PLA and it's not wearing well, amongst other issues with it, and my 3D printer will not handle anything other than PLA so it may be time for an upgrade.

May need to change out that green fuel line for a rigid one as the green ones can compress when pumping

Thanks once again for the info. I have done pretty much the made the same storage cubby so my wife’s feet will not dangle. Question, the only way I can see which heater you used is if I buy your parts list? Happy to use your affiliate links but not interested in $49 parts list. Thanks

Velmi se mi líbí kamera pro kontrolu vypouštění šedé vody umístěná pod dodávkou.
Mám dotaz, jestli se vám kmera nezašpiní pokud prší a případně jak to řešíte.
    Díky, Josef
