I don't know if anywhere is quite ready for it, let alone Japan. Just from the fact alone that you can RECORD what you're seeing while wearing it. Imagine some creep using this, walking around nonchalant. No one knows if they're being recorded, nor can they tell necessarily what the person is looking it. Just too many 🚩uses.

When the 'travel mode' went on I had a reflexive swell of panic. The idea of being on a train and having absolutely no idea what's going on around me is terrifying.

I can definitely see what Apple are trying to do with the Vision Pro. However, the immersive nature of it suggests that it was modelled on 90s VR headsets of the past. It's awesome for a game or for a controlled environment, but without fences, spatial awareness or peripheral vision, it feels like an accident waiting to happen.
IMHO, it'd be better were it more like a heads-up display (HUD) in certain Nissan cars or a plane.

I had to look up "disorientating" because I pronounce it "disorient" and thought I was pronouncing it wrong. I found that "disorientate" and "disorient" mean the exact same thing. Disorientate is used more in England, and disorient is used in the US. English--the language that complicates itself for no reason and causes inflammable or flammable anger and frustration. Great video Norm, thank you!

This would be highly useful for someone learning Japanese to be able to translate all the signs in real time in Japanese. You could also use it to translate what people are saying in real time. (Someone could develop a 'predictive text' on responses back to what people say, like a multiple choice thing, and you pick one from the list with your hands... and then it could tell you how to reply in the language.) This could help you to learn and get used to speaking to people in another language, even if you look like someone out of Serial Experiments Lain when you are doing it 😅

I need this for at home with noise cancelling headphones. Kids can be fighting, Mother in law screaming down her most basic mobile phone to her friend and the partner having a grump. I can just zone out !!!

Putting aside the unwieldiness - the price and even more the danger always had me thinking that this will not work.

Again we are closer to a cyperpunk world, so I think it would awesome if the could field the outside perception problem like making the window smaller.

Nice looking Cyberpunk Tech. But what I learned from your comments is that it needs to have wider visual view area (left and right areas). I think when it has real sized map what did not cover your view when walking would make it killer app with wider visual area.

I actually have one and it is freaking awesome and I think Japan is ready for it. They might even like the google glasses with voice commands

Question. Is there any application that would make it somehow a useful piece of tech to wear while walking in the street? For example if they could do the equivalent of the Live view feature of Google Maps, but withing the whole experience (it put a blue arrow to point to the direction to take in augmented reality) and not having to interact with virtual scree, it would be really cool.

Lens goes outside the box, I'd love to try that. I live in the English Countryside, the would be no distance reference through the goggles.

Japan is literally the only place I'd consider letting someone physically possess my property with the expectation of getting it back.

Haven’t seen the video yet but this will **very likely** make me more excited about the AVP and future iterations. I wish I could demo it here in the Netherlands lol
Edit: Finally seen it and couldn't remove the smile on my face from seeing all the reactions from these people and seeing you experience it. It looks so much fun!
