btw, if youre wondering why it one shots from far sometimes. lightweights have a flat-ish diamond spread, which is similar to the shape of a sliding player. if you noticed, the guy you mapped was sliding as well
Huh! Could be on to something. A guy sliding across your view has his legs out, maybe that's what's needed to catch the pellets at the right/left corner of the diamond.
This might be intentional because lightweights are meant to be more defensive shotguns since they have higher handling for using a primary to get them half health and then quickly swapping for the clean up. So a diamond shape makes it even better against opponents sliding at you
if that's intentional it's genius. if not, it's still pretty cool makes a ton of sense. the gun is good when its spread matches the shape of the opponent
It's more than just weird, the whip animation is actually slower than usual. No reason why Bungie did it like this but that's the reason why it feels off to so many people

I feel like the Lightweight frame is the REAL Precision frame in that you need to at least have some of the pellets hit crit - which in turn leads you to need to be more accurate with your shots.
I mean, it’s fine that it can’t one shot. The reason you would take a Lightweight shotgun in the first place is for clean up kills and hotswapping. Before the change, it couldn’t even do that properly. Now it actually doesn’t stink now.

I have god roll Riis and crafted Wastelander and honestly my Iron Reach Riis is not hitting as far as my Wastelander, Wastelander is far better in range, but Riis feels better to swap out to if that makes sense
It looks like you have to aim closer to the neck/head whereas other shotguns you aim for center mass, I think the swap speed and movement bonus could make it worth it with practice
The point you made about Wastelander is exactly why I run Perpetual Motion on my crafted roll. It adds to what is already a really solid shotgun, it's noticeable 👊
I like the idea of lightweights as a purely chip based shotty, which can really only 1shot when super close. Maybe make their midrange chip more consistent and give them a 3rd shot on PvP spawn, while leaving 1 shot range minimal. Gives them a unique identity and promotes a playstyle way more fun then the average SG which most players will just ape with. SGs feel pretty good right now with the exception of a few out of band options like matador, think they'll do a bit better once the zoom changes bring down SMGs a bit, and if fusions become too dominate in that absence I'd rather see those nerfed then shotguns buffed.
They're much better now. If you cant get a god roll fracty or matador, the craftable lightweights currently available (Wastelander and without remorse) are now thankfully decent alternatives. The god roll precision frames are still better, but the gap is much smaller now, the fact that you an craft the perfect lightweight in either slot is very good too. Conditional Finality is its own thing, it is just all around the best shotty in PVP right now and nothing really compares IMO.
I wish they buffed slugs because sometimes I swear I'll aim for the head and it doesn't connect, needs to be a better hit box on slugs. The iron banner ome is good
Need to check out Riiswalker, way more base range than the other lightweights with Iron Reach. It’s always been my favorite lightweight. Also has a longer barrel/gun model than Wastelander which I’ve heard affects range.
Idk but Riiswalker with iron reach seems to be the most consistent to me. As for precision frames I prefer Retold with qd over Matador despite having a god roll. Matador just seems to have this habit of taking too long to fire when you swap despite threat detector.
I snagged a xenoclast with cork, assault mag, slideshot rampage with a range masterwork, and it feels insanely nice, not as much oneshot range obviously but one stack of rampage makes it feel like a precision

The gun appears to be very good, its just maybe Precions are powercrept? Maybe change how you aim. I mean lightweights are giving you a movement buff so we cant make it op as precisions
With my crafted without remorse I was getting 8m kills 50/50 and 7m 100% you just gotta hit above the hip so all pellets hit. Very consistent and very good for cleanups and close range Encounters firing and moving faster.
I think I know why lightweights are inconsitant and it's because of flinch I think, because a lot of the time when wallah tried to shotgun he'd get hit at the same time as shooting, causing the gun to flinch while the pellets are being shot out, hense the no one shot

Lightweights shouldn't have the same OHK consistency as a precision or aggressive. They give you the speed boost and are meant to be quick hitters to prime or clean up or get the kill if you use the speed to get close enough. I think the buff was good. Not OP, but a little better than before. Fits the role perfectly.

I have an 85 range god role matador 64 and it’s the most inconsistent shotgun iv’e ever used and i played with a god roll matador in D1 so I really don’t know anymore with shotty’s
i did notice that most of the one shot moments in the vid were when slideshot was active and the one where u complained about it were mostly mid air plays so AE might still be a big factor on why you were missing shots, that and the tiny bit of range missing from slideshot. Anteus titans will enjoy wastelander.

@kyreek2101 Honestly mostly a meme exotic, funny clips of a like 25 meter chaperone headshot. But not very viable for the same reason no one uses the stag or Sanguine alchemy, it just isn't worth being forced to camp in your rift when other exotics are so good. That being said you can make it work, but it isn't remotely a meta option.
That is not a spread problem anymore, is a dmg per pullet now, lightweight shotguns have of the lowest dmg per pullet in the game that make to you hit almost all your pullets to get a one-shot kill, I think it can make the dmg of the lightweight like the dmg of the matador and reduce the dmg per pullet of the matador.

The 61 damage you're seeing is from multiple pellets hitting the head. Instead of showing 3x crit numbers, it combines them into one. Headshots increase the OHK distance because you are doing more damage
i’ll probably use the wastelander now since i have a godroll, i absolutely hate the matador since i have a pretty mediocre roll for it so it’s time for me to switch.
Still think one of the best shotguns in the game is Compass rose, it's the same archetype as Matador .I have over 1000 pvp kills on mine. Soo glad they brought it back with new perks. I just have to farm a new godroll.
Imma be honest I didn’t know lightweights were so hated, I have a 5/5 Riiswalker, and I use it on striker titan with syntho’s. (Yes I know very meta) but honestly it works so well because it leaves them low health for a follow up melee. Pretty much lightweights are a titans primer to punch people after. But honestly I love Riiswalker so much.
Looking forward to using them how i believe they are intended. To be whipped out real quick for a clean up. Looks like theyll excell in that department now. Keep the raid shotty for when supers are coming up
Dang I wanted lightweights to be good again. I loved my seventh seraph shotgun it used to feels so good and consistent. Someday they will be good again but at this rate I doubt I will be playing the game.

wastelander is better than Riis for some odd reason. idk why but Riis feels and handles like ass, and iron reach doesnt really help it that much

Precisions are not power crept lmao. Precisions pale in comparison to old shotguns. I just think everything needs to be brought up to them

You should play around with lunafaction empowering rift! It doubles the range of all weopons in your rift!
How beneficial are those boots in pvp(comp vs 6s)? Never really used them and exotics that tie me to my rift feel kinda restricting. Just wondering

Dang I wanted lightweights to be good again. I loved my seventh seraph shotgun it used to feels so good and consistent. Someday they will be good again but at this rate I doubt I will be playing the game.

It might have to do with the internal timer of Opening Shot.

wastelander is my fave gun in the game so i wouldve been spamming it even without the buffs, free upgrades tho

I like using Wastelander in PVE more tbh! No Back Up Plans, Wastelander with Smallbore, Assault Mag, Pugelist & Trench Barrel, Range MW. You can demolish a whooooole bunch of enemies with it & then have an OS afterwards!
It's not right to compare lightweights that have opening shot. Need to look into non opening shot rolls to see if they any good

It might be good with arc hunter so you can get them weak and finish them with a melee
