      I bought my friend a Fender Mustang lt25, it's his 1st amp. Got it used for about $100 and it's amazing, especially after the last update (it's a digital modeling amp).
      I wish I had something that nice when I started lol. I highly recommend you check it out before you buy something.

      @@MarkZabel you should make a new video about this(and give my name credit also 😉)
      Now The process, :-
      1. Download Microphone Pro App:-
      2. Buy a 3.5mm male to 2 female 3.55mm splitter adapter for separating Mic and Headphone.
      3. Buy a 6.35mm male to 3.5mm female converter jack(₹150-200 or $3-4)
      4. Connect your guitar using the 6.35mm converter and aux cable to the 3.55 Mic jack of the splitter.
      7. Now all connections are done. Now open the Microphone pro app. Set sample rate to 48000hz and frame rate=240 or 480 etc.
      8. Use headphone or speaker whatever you wish by connecting to the splitter.
      Now Enjoy live Guitar or any other 6.35mm instrument.
      No need to buy any amplifier or Usb Sound card. Your Phone is your amplifier.

    Cool solution Mark! Another solution is to purchase a Vox amPlug. It is basically a headphone amp, but would work well in this scenario. Just connect your headphones, or a cable from the amPlug to your speaker. The benefit to the Android software is that you may have quicker access to more effects.

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  6 років тому +1

      Hey Bob! Thanks for the comment. Yes, the Vox Amplug is a great travel amp. I did another video on travel amps and I mentioned that it (the Vox Amplug) is the device I use when traveling by plane. By car I usually use the Blackstar Fly 3. But, as you mention, if you're a DIY guy or a pedal guy, this is a fun thing to do.
      As an FYI, I also have a Behringer guitar interface (a recent gift), and swapping that in for the cheap soundcard eliminates almost all of the noise. It's actually really nice. I think it costs around $40. There are knock-offs, but I don't know if they're any good. The phone/pad/computer solutions are going to keep getting better.

    this is very interesting.
    I used to be a guitar player, sorta twnty years ago and I was thinking to introduce my 9 y.o. son to the instrument without the need to connect my noisy CRATE amplifier... This could be a nice and cheap solution. I did not even know that you can buy a sound card that looks like an USB memory key...
    Gosh, I'm getting older...
    Thanks.

    • @MarkZabel

      The sounds card method may be very noisy, so keep that in mind. Another option is a small solid state practice amp. BlackStar ID series is good. They don't sounds like the crappy small solid state amps we had. Plus, a few on board effects are nice. They run about $130 new. But this works, and you may have most of these things around the house.

    ess the you tube lesson and demo. It's fast so I use the screen recorders called rec screen recorder. You can record the video but you have to be in a quiet place.Aftwards it's saved and you can slow that down and actually put it into a video editor and repeat the hard parts. I've been using it for awhile .. I did a gospel walk-up in it and that was before all these updates. Btw it picks up the soundsndhave no latency problems so far

  • @donlewis3162
    @donlewis3162 6 років тому +3

    Another great way to do this is to simply use a headphone amp and auxiliary cable to the speaker. Search Vox headphone amplifiers on Amazon & pick the one that best suits your style. This works surprisingly well if you have a decent quality speaker. This way you only have one cable to deal with, and no latency (at least not that I can tell).

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  6 років тому

      Yes. This video is really for either DIY guys, Pedal guys, and people getting acclimated to what's surely coming - live emulation with virtual amps. I've seen a few brave people using a rig like this live (of course not with the cheap sound card). Latency is quite minimal and the noise is greatly reduced by using an actual guitar interface (like Behringer).
      I did another video on travel amp options and included the Vox Amplug. I have one and that's what I use when traveling by plane. Very easy. The only thing I don't like about the Amplug is the clean sound. A tiny amp like the Blackstar Fly is also a great, simple option for travel.

    AND you can still use your phone to answer calls \m/

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  6 років тому +3

      Sure thing. I don't know though. I've used the Marshall micro stack before - it's fun. If you're going the micro amp route I would go with the Blackstar fly. True, there's no belt buckle, but the sound is much better IMHO. It will run you $60 or so. Lots of demos on UA-cam and several comparisons. All the micro amps are kind of thin sounding if you ask me. But they're great for travel and tooling around the house, bothering the kids and such! :)
      The iPad/mobile phone method is a whole different animal. The sound is largely dependent upon the speakers you hook up. Whether it makes sense to you mostly depends on how much into pedals you are. If you're into pedals and amp/cab models (which I'm not really), the options are pretty amazing and cheap. I've heard some people gig with them, though I personally think that's pushing it a bit far.

      Go get a real musical instrument and don't worry about it. Try a zoom multi-effects unit. They're small, sound great, and cheaper than a phone capable of running this wannabe software. Less than 200$ used and you can run with the big dogs... But you're gonna need an amp at some point. Try that first.

    Awesome! Thanks, I think you just gave me the missing link. Been looking for a battery/usb powered audio interface solution for Android to have a completely mobile amp/recording setup that attaches to my guitar & gives me complete freedom to walk around & record with no wires/cables attached. Very few reliable options for sale, practically nothing. Guitar Link as you show in your other video is a good option, however, I want 2 track live recording with guitar on 1 track & vocals on 2nd track. I thought of the same idea you show here, using a usb sound card, but adding a left/right y cable splitter to the input - plug guitar into 1 side & 1/8" lavalier mic into other side. Record guitar to left channel & vocals to right channel (I realized by your video I could plug the guitar to the sound card using that 1/4" to 1/8" adapter.) Rather than a cheap sound card, for $20 theres the Creative Soundblaster Play 3. I ordered it and am waiting. This should give much cleaner sound since it's 24 bit. I didn't know I could free download Deplike or Tonebridge for guitar effects. That means I won't even have to use my Boss Micro Br to plug in guitar & get effects, just the souncard, usb adapter & phone. The final piece to the puzzle will be the DAW, I'm using n-Track 9. Question is will the guitar effects run through the DAW, & without latency issues ? I am awaiting the soundcard & USB OTG adapter. If it actually works & without glitches it will be amazing. There is really nothing out there on the market that can do this reliably. Even the IRig devices seem to be a flop on Androids.

    • @MarkZabel
      @MarkZabel  4 роки тому +1

      Hey, thanks!! Yes, you'll definitely want a better sound card. Android devices just weren't made with sound in mind the way iPhones were. So going through the phone jack always sounds horrible - if it works at all.
      Deplike may charge for additional effects, so be aware of that. Best of luck!!

    • @Madhava1977
      @Madhava1977 4 роки тому +1

      @@MarkZabel Found that Deplike doesn't have recording capability. The DAW nTrack 9 does have some built in effects, but it doesn't seem other effects apps can be used like a plug in. For Android recording apps options are very limited. N-Track 9 seems to be best but still alot of users have latency & timing problems even with sound cards or audio interfaces. An Android phone just doesn't really have the required computing power it seems. The potential is there for professional multitrack recording on an Android Phone but the technology is not quite there yet. I have thoroughly researched all the devices & apps. IOS seems more evolved but even on Apple phones it seems there are still issues. I look forward to the day when I can have a flawless full on recording studio with amps & effects all in my pocket.
