Cheap USB audio adapters can be surprisingly good because the 5V rail is often a cleaner source of power than the 12v rail that motherboard audio or the soundcard on the computer.
By the way, I'm so glad I ran across this. I was looking at these sound cards earlier today. I saw a few videos, but they were not as detailed with comparisons.
+Luoyisi Shimisi I have another video coming soon where I up the number of adapters to 11...and will be measuring the voltage output of each of the adapters which will be useful to know why the mics don't sound as good on them.
+emboar9889 Awesome choice! I literally just got lucky...I went on amazon and picked a highly rated one a few months ago...just turns out it's a great one. LUCKY LUCKY ME! =)
The USB standard will always deliver 5V so its pretty irrelevent. The amperage/wattage can be interesting to monitor but again not really in this case for consomptions that low
+Retro JKT In all honesty, when I bought all these adapters, I was expecting them to all be the same. I had no idea the internal workings of each adapter would make such a HUGE difference between the audio quality. I got lucky buying the Sabrent first. =)
Retro JKT I will definitely spring for the metal one next time I need a new USB Adapter. Right now, the plastic is working fine, but then again, I'm not using this when I travel. I think the metal one would be great for traveling video makers / podcasters.
Been looking for the best USB soundcard for my PS4 (for streaming/recording), I think I may ditch the USB soundcards and get a proper interface. This helps, thank you!
Is there anything of these USB soundcards you can recommend if what I'm after is a better output using my speakers? I'm using Edifier X600 w/ 3.5mm jack hooked up directly to my motherboard and I'm not so happy with it. lol
I had just bought the last one online before I watched your video, thing is the reviews say it's perfectly fine but I don't think I'll risk it and will just return it and get the Sabrent one.
Thank you for your review!! I'm planning on buying a usb soundcard for my Bm-800. I was thinking of choosing sabrent but good thing I found your warning video so change plan :(. The only option available in my country is the 3D sound card 5.1. Hopefully it will improve the sound of my mic and also eliminate the background noises when I record my covers! :)
Nice review. You saved me from buying the one you said unusable. Thank you. The only thing I wanted was a little bit amplified audio recording. Otherwise with a logitech headset, I record a lear sound just by connecting it to my laptop. What I need is a USB sound card with a bit of gain.
That is exactly what I needed. The Logitech H 111 mic I bought from Aliexpress records clear sound. I just needed a preamp that will increase the volume just a bit. I don't think this sound card increases gain.
Will the BM- 800 and the Virtual 5.1 Soundcard provide at least decent audio and volume for, let's say, UA-cam Voiceovers? And will the audio be better than a default built in microphone in a camera. (any camera)
Hey, I got a BM 800. It was very quiet when pluged in directly to my PC, so I got a Sabrent Stereo adapter, as per your videos. There was no difference in sound levels, but noise was slightly lower. The mic was very quiet at 100%, I needed to shout directly to the microphone to get any sound. I recommend for BM 800 to get an actual 48V phantom power. With phantom power I finally got this mic to work.
Cannot get rid of Idle background noise Neewer nw700+Ugreen audio adapter or, nw700+ the last card you showed Whats the solution? Is this my hardware/motherboard issue? Previously using with laptop it was okay. But facing this in Desktop
i like to try out different things is the reason why I'm asking ?? If you put a dynamic mic in this would it turn up the mic volume ??? Like even if you use a portable phone charger instead of a computer would the phone charger and with this virtual sound card adapter would it work as a interface to cut the mic volume up with a sony voice recorder with a 3.5 male to male wire into the recorder with the sound card ?????????
Ok! I'm glad I found you!! I've subscribed to your channel. I have a big issue. I'm a composer/arranger and I have several DAW's I use. Particularly my latest is a pretty good one. It's call Mixcraft by Acoustica. Now to the problem. I just bought at HP Envy Curved All-in-one 34-b1xx. It's super nice but when I ran my DAW I could not record a track that I had in the channel. The mic that it goes into is the one from the computer and it just hums. There are two ways I can go on this. Get your USB adaptor (sounds like a good idea), but I'm wondering, I checked the "sound" settings and it doesn't give me an option to record with the computer speakers. I have an old HP tower and I have no problems at all. Any suggestions? Appreciate it!!
Please tell me, i have bm 800 mic. Should i buy sound card or phantom power supply. Or both are required ? Is Phantom power supply really needed for recording? Or i can use only sound card. I’m so confuse about it. Please suggest me.
Podcastage Ah thanks. Interesting. I just ordered a few anyway. But my situation might not need the same power level. I won't have a mic hooked straight up to it. Actually using a VT3 Transformer for the mic, then porting that into my laptop on usb for software, VST Host effects. And back out of the laptop audio on one of these usb adapters and into my pc with a second adapter. Only need them to clean the line noise up. Because apparently going from the laptop speaker out 3.5mm to the PC's Line-In causes major feedback issues. I just hope it still has the same tone. But for the price it's worth a shot.
@Podcastage , I'm using a BM 800 Condenser microphone and soundcard with 5.1 CS like your color blue soundcard and it has hissing sound every time I record . How to solve it , Help Plssssss...
Hi , i bought the blue sound card and when i plug my headsets in , there is like no low frequences and the volume is very low even if i mx the ps4 volume . Can you help me ?

So this might be a bit late to comment here, but I have the “white one” and it’s works, however, I am getting a high-pitched “whining” noise when I’m using it, what could be the issue?
I use to use the Sabrent, and had no problems whatsoever, I recently got a replacement BM-800 mic and for whatever reason my Sabrent adapter doesn't wanna work with this new mic I got. My headphones only get audio on one side now. 🤔
Do these rely on the sound card of the computer or are they actual sound cards of their own ? I mean if the integrated sound card of a laptop is faulty, will I get sound with one of these little USB adapters ?
Please help, i use an bm-800 microphone and a usb card like that, when i try to record on garage band there's an awful beep that i can't get ridd of, please help

are those soundcards any good for listening to music? My laptop soundcard is really bad but i have a good headphone. Will one of those soundcards make me happy or do i have to buy one of the really big and expensive ones? Great video btw :)

can you tell me witch adapter cand be use for a 5.1 sony dav-tz715 on laptop because i want to set 5.1 on my integrated audio card and i only have stereo please help me
You say you no longer recommend. There any tips my pc no longer detects my microphone inputs or I can’t hear from it. So I was gonna get these. However I do have a xlr micorphpne and audio interface could that be used instead? If so how?
Earlier I used the microphone through a sound card and connected it to my laptop and it worked but the second time I plugged it in. It just won't work. Microphone is not being detected and I don't know what to do with it :( can you please help me?
Hey bro can i get sound using one of these , i have problem with sound driver it said it does not support win 10 , i dont know if putting one of these will work
hey mate, i want to know how if i use these soundcard for microphone and plug a dac/amp in the same computer for my headphone. does it work at the same time?
It should work the same. I don't think the power provided through USB ports is dependent on what else is plugged into USB hubs. I think that it is standardized. Make sure to watch the warning video I did before buying a Sabrent soundcard if you were planning on it.
The audio of my pc has stop working, and its probably cause of the sound board have crashed...will a sound board + column resolve the problem? Sorry for bad english
If I buy something like this will I be able to connect both microphone and headphones at my Laptop and have them both working? I only have one jack and for some reason the mic doesn't work. I think it's only output not input.
+dracula499 The mic doesn't work plugging into a single 3.5mm jack because it's not TRRS. This will allow you to plug in a mic and headphones as long as you have a dynamic mic. It will not work with a condenser mic.
hey im using a 7.1 channel sound card to connect the gaming headset, the headset has separate leads for mic and speakers. when i connect these using the 7.1 channel adapter to my ps4 the mic works perfectly fine but i hear recurring noise in the headphone after regular intervals. could you suggest a solution to the problem here?
Podcastage, could you make a video or tell me your opinion of the Roccat Juke 7.1 Sound Card adapter? I've read opinions and the sounds are clearer, and the 7.1 is nice but before buying it I prefer to hear your opinion. Thanks!
What if I use Phantom power for the last usb audio adapter (blue one)? Please tell me should i use bm 800 with neewer 48v Phantom power with the last blue colored audio adapter?
Hi again, i wana ask somthing. Doubts again😅. Well i tried what u suggested me n it did worked. I purchased an external usb sound card for ma mac-air so as to take audio output to an external speaker n audio input from iphone's earpiece. Sound did came out but was pretty low so i am thinking to buy a dynamic microphone, if i connected it to mac as input, will the output audio be small n not clear? Also using dyanmic microphone at mac requires amplifier or what? Please suggest as i am not aware of this n want to avoid unnecessary purchase
Bro. i just browse for SF920 and i can see that it's a condenser microphone n it's kind of costly here. But anyways please help me clear 2 doubts. 1) While inserting dynamic microphone with 3.5mm jack to a a Mac or a USB condenser microphone to USB of Mac, will both give good and audible voice? And when does an Amplifier or something comes into use? are amplifiers use along dynamic microphones. # as when i use my headphones on mac, the output audio was terribly low and messed up # 2) You advice me to use SF920's 3.5mm jack into input of USB sound card so does that give more better output then connecting SF920's 3.5mm jack into Mac's own 3.5mm input? please reply and answer my questions and thankyou in advance.
What are you talking about when you say amplifier? Link please. I have never once used an amplifier to connect a mic to my computer. NO. Connecting any mic to 3.5mm jack on mac will not work. I cannot make blanket statements about all USB mics providing great audio when plugged in. It is only determined by the individual microphone. YES. Connecting SF920 to SYBA STEREO USB SOUNDCARD does improve audio quality. The SF920 would most likely not work at all plugged into 3.5mm Mac Jack.
www.amazon.in/Behringer-UB1002FX-Ultra-Low-Preamplifiers-Processor/dp/B003L9E0TE?ie=UTF8&keywords=behringer%20amplifier&qid=1466402780&ref_=sr_1_8&sr=8-8 When i read comments at some amazon microphone review some say kind of amplifier is needed to make output more audible n clearer. also here at ma country there is a double fold price difference between dynamic n condenser microphone so was kind of thinking to use dynamic mic. then please tell me how to use dynamic microphone 3.5mm to mac? as u say that dynamic microphone 3.5mm plugin to mac will not work so connecting to USB soundcard will work then? also by ur statements i see that as of usb condenser microphone any of it will work on mac, right bro?
also another link to share. www.amazon.in/AHUJA-Stallion005-AMPLIFIER-DPA570/dp/B00LMZX0Q8/ref=pd_sim_sbs_107_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=41mHheIpf6L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&psc=1&refRID=1GHFD3NNWD7RY1F0ZNFV
My bm 800 sounds great . No need for Phantom power. I just plug in to laptop mic plug .With realtek sound card. Only needs level enhancements and adjustment.I use 2 active subwoofers as speakers. Also use Virtual DJ for effects.
Yes it does. But if you're using a soundcard that offers ~4.5v and using an electret condenser mic (i.e. BM700, NW800, etc) you won't get a huge difference by adding phantom power.
You should not connect condeners mics directly to computers built in input. They will suck. If you just buy phantom power, you will still need a USB soundcard.
I didn't focus much on the headphone output of these, I was focussed a lot more on the microphone input. I also don't have any 7.1 headphones to test on them. I don't think that true 7.1 output is capable over a single 3.5mm jack though, but that's not something I've looked into.
+computer man I don't know what else to test out. Haha. If you have any suggestions, you can pass them along. But I don't know if I can justify making another video covering more soundcards. Maybe. But I don't know.
+Noah Berntsson I just got an e-mail back from Sabrent stating that they did not change the production or quality of the adapters. They recommend disabling your internal soundcard as that may be causing the issue. I still haven't had a problem with my adapter, I have just received a few complaints over the past few days.
+Podcastage Since I live in Sweden I cannot buy anything from Sabrent, so are there any ones except those in the video that you think are worth buying? Preferably on gearbest.com :>
I will have to get back to you. I don't know what's sold on there. I just ordered 5 more USB interfaces to test out since the Sabrent one has been having so many problems from my viewers.
Noah Berntsson Within the next few weeks. I am waiting on a Multimeter. I'm trying to find a way to measure the voltage that's actually making it to the microphone. Since in here, we see the USB adapters were all getting 5 volts, but I don't think all that power was making it to the mic. So I want to find an accurate way to test this.
Hey dude im using the 7.1 channel sound card but it's making this loud continuous high pitched noise. I tried it on both my laptops with same results. It's driving me crazy. My laptop won't recognize the mic on it's own so I don't know what to do.
VWC318 Honestly, none. I don't trust these adapters anymore since companies don't seem to announce changes in the internal components. The fact that these ever worked for a condenser mic was great, but now I just recommend cheap USB Audio Interfaces like the UM2. If you are deadset on getting a USB Soundcard, check my newer video and in the description, I have my ranking with the first 3 eliminated due to complaints of changes in components.
i have a laptop and it only has one jack, headphone jack and i need a two for my turtle beaches to record a commentary in audacity .will a sound card solve my issue?
Same here. I've searched through the entire electronic market here in Sweden, no Syba or Sabrent. But I did find something similar: The Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go and the Creative Sound Blaster Play! 2. How these are compared to the ones in this video I can not say.
will phantom power remove the static noise i have currently running with the bm 800 mic? i use it for gaming and live talk? i get buzzing noises while speaking?
Finally someone made a video review on these, im been very curious about for sometime, Thank you great video.
Cheap USB audio adapters can be surprisingly good because the 5V rail is often a cleaner source of power than the 12v rail that motherboard audio or the soundcard on the computer.
I just ordered a sabrent USB audio adapter because my ASRock audio port has a high pitch ring to it. I hope it gets sorted with the adapter
I'm planning on tuning in for that one. These little devices are pretty reasonable.
Awesome! I was waiting for this!
I got the 7.1 cheap thing but i think i'll upgrade to the Sabrent.
Sounds way better.
+emboar9889 Awesome choice! I literally just got lucky...I went on amazon and picked a highly rated one a few months ago...just turns out it's a great one. LUCKY LUCKY ME! =)

@@Podcastage which one was best??
I will buy the Sabrent USB 2.0 External 7.1 Thank you for the video!
how is your mic really really quiet??! i mean how is there no self noise or hiss? I've got a bm 800 and i cant figure out how to get rid of the noise.
I've had the sabrent sound card for a few months and I'm glad to know it is better than others.
+Retro JKT In all honesty, when I bought all these adapters, I was expecting them to all be the same. I had no idea the internal workings of each adapter would make such a HUGE difference between the audio quality. I got lucky buying the Sabrent first. =)

Retro JKT Is that the metal body? I bet that feels nice and gives you a bit of added peace of mind that it is good build quality.

You are measuring the voltage to the sound card not the mic, the voltage on the mic jack needs to be measured.
You're exactly right. This guy has no clue. He's measuring the USB supply voltage....
Thank you very much for the information and review, it really helpfully

If I plug my bm8000 into the White adapted and directly plug it in to my MacBook, can I use iMovie to boost up the volume?
+BananaBoss1 I suppose so. Won't sound that good though. Recommend this instead: ua-cam.com/video/MGlCPzGxaOk/v-deo.html
Don't know what would cause that.
this is happening to me too wtf
Would the Boya lavalier mic work through the SYBA USB? I'm trying that setup and it's not picking up the mic.
hey podcast age, my usb sound card causes hardcore high pitch whine noise, what's the solution?
Hey bro can i get sound using one of these , i have problem with sound driver it said it does not support win 10 , i dont know if putting one of these will work
hey mate, i want to know how if i use these soundcard for microphone and plug a dac/amp in the same computer for my headphone. does it work at the same time?
It should work the same. I don't think the power provided through USB ports is dependent on what else is plugged into USB hubs. I think that it is standardized. Make sure to watch the warning video I did before buying a Sabrent soundcard if you were planning on it.
Are any of these compatible with Windows 98 SE? Trying to build a 775 retro PC
Would it be possible to use a phone with AUX cable instead of the mic?
hey im using a 7.1 channel sound card to connect the gaming headset, the headset has separate leads for mic and speakers. when i connect these using the 7.1 channel adapter to my ps4 the mic works perfectly fine but i hear recurring noise in the headphone after regular intervals. could you suggest a solution to the problem here?
dude just a tip don't say give it a big thumbs down just ask what you can improve on
I noticed with the 7.1 channel you didn't actually try the volume switch. I wonder if that would've effected the audio...
Podcastage, could you make a video or tell me your opinion of the Roccat Juke 7.1 Sound Card adapter? I've read opinions and the sounds are clearer, and the 7.1 is nice but before buying it I prefer to hear your opinion. Thanks!
your favorite would be those two sabrent but why did u recommend us not to buy those?
ua-cam.com/video/J1v1jtHz4C0/v-deo.html
i dont know why, but i bought few adapters and they seem to make a sizzling/whitenoise sound, its not my mic and i dont know why, can u help?
There's nothing that I'm able to do to help. I put a disclaimer everywhere I can that this is an issue with USB soundcards now.
At 4:09, I have the same adapter but I a receiving some bg noises...
heyyy, i bought a small microphone but it works on the phone but not on the computer, can you please help me??
That was useful .. but since you have them all, whould you tell me if any of these sound cards work on android operating systems?
I don't own android device, so I have no idea.
What if I use Phantom power for the last usb audio adapter (blue one)? Please tell me should i use bm 800 with neewer 48v Phantom power with the last blue colored audio adapter?
are they working also for OTG supported android phones??
An actual fact based video on YT! Thanks!
Absolutely! Thanks for noticing guys! =)
Can I record with bm 800 without the phantom power supply
Hi again, i wana ask somthing. Doubts again😅. Well i tried what u suggested me n it did worked. I purchased an external usb sound card for ma mac-air so as to take audio output to an external speaker n audio input from iphone's earpiece. Sound did came out but was pretty low so i am thinking to buy a dynamic microphone, if i connected it to mac as input, will the output audio be small n not clear? Also using dyanmic microphone at mac requires amplifier or what? Please suggest as i am not aware of this n want to avoid unnecessary purchase
I would say just get an SF920 and plug that into your USB soundcard input.
Bro. i just browse for SF920 and i can see that it's a condenser microphone n it's kind of costly here.
# as when i use my headphones on mac, the output audio was terribly low and messed up #
2) You advice me to use SF920's 3.5mm jack into input of USB sound card so does that give more better output then connecting SF920's 3.5mm jack into Mac's own 3.5mm input?
please reply and answer my questions and thankyou in advance.

When i read comments at some amazon microphone review some say kind of amplifier is needed to make output more audible n clearer. also here at ma country there is a double fold price difference between dynamic n condenser microphone so was kind of thinking to use dynamic mic. then please tell me how to use dynamic microphone 3.5mm to mac? as u say that dynamic microphone 3.5mm plugin to mac will not work so connecting to USB soundcard will work then? also by ur statements i see that as of usb condenser microphone any of it will work on mac, right bro?
also another link to share.

My bm 800 sounds great . No need for Phantom power. I just plug in to laptop mic plug .With realtek sound card. Only needs level enhancements and adjustment.I use 2 active subwoofers as speakers. Also use Virtual DJ for effects.
I have got quantum sound card.
and the audio level is same with or without phantom power. Why is it so ?
does phantom power work with sound card ?
Yes it does. But if you're using a soundcard that offers ~4.5v and using an electret condenser mic (i.e. BM700, NW800, etc) you won't get a huge difference by adding phantom power.
Then how should I connect phantom power to PC without sound card ?
You should not connect condeners mics directly to computers built in input. They will suck. If you just buy phantom power, you will still need a USB soundcard.
There’s difference between sabrent and the other sound card Which you noticed in the end of video, and the sabrent support 7.1 or not? Thank you
I didn't focus much on the headphone output of these, I was focussed a lot more on the microphone input. I also don't have any 7.1 headphones to test on them. I don't think that true 7.1 output is capable over a single 3.5mm jack though, but that's not something I've looked into.
I can't find any of the sabrents because i live in australia are there any more you can recommend besides the sabrents?
+computer man I don't know what else to test out. Haha. If you have any suggestions, you can pass them along. But I don't know if I can justify making another video covering more soundcards. Maybe. But I don't know.
well you reviewed all the sound cards that i know of in that vid which one is better out of them excluding the sabrents
I think the 7.1 surround sound is the next best.
Podcastage Thanks :)
Thanks for your revew :D
So... If the Sabrent ones are bad, which one of the ones you mentioned would be the best?
Podcastage Great! Do you happen to have an ETA of when that video will come?
Noah Berntsson Within the next few weeks. I am waiting on a Multimeter. I'm trying to find a way to measure the voltage that's actually making it to the microphone. Since in here, we see the USB adapters were all getting 5 volts, but I don't think all that power was making it to the mic. So I want to find an accurate way to test this.
Could you test sony f-v120 mic? Cause when ever I go to store there is sony f-v120 but, I don't know the quality.
Hey dude im using the 7.1 channel sound card but it's making this loud continuous high pitched noise. I tried it on both my laptops with same results. It's driving me crazy. My laptop won't recognize the mic on it's own so I don't know what to do.
Thanks for taking time to test these. Just one comment/question. Your video recommends the Sabrent but your description says (DON'T BUY) these??????
+VWC318 They changed the internal components (audio chip) and it no longer performs at the same level.
+Podcastage OK Thanks. So which do you recommend now?
VWC318 Honestly, none. I don't trust these adapters anymore since companies don't seem to announce changes in the internal components. The fact that these ever worked for a condenser mic was great, but now I just recommend cheap USB Audio Interfaces like the UM2. If you are deadset on getting a USB Soundcard, check my newer video and in the description, I have my ranking with the first 3 eliminated due to complaints of changes in components.
+Podcastage OK Thanks for all your help and effort.
you recommend this audio card? my hi-fi a886 usb sound blaster
Never used it, but I do not recommend ANY usb soundcard for any ELECTRET CONDENSER microphone connection (bm700, nw800, etc).
i have a laptop and it only has one jack, headphone jack and i need a two for my turtle beaches to record a commentary in audacity .will a sound card solve my issue?
what do i need
yes it should
I searched Syba in local market. Could not find. Could find those HDE 7.1, Gino Stereo though... And no Sabrent too... :(
Those will not work without a phantom power supply
Same here. I've searched through the entire electronic market here in Sweden, no Syba or Sabrent. But I did find something similar: The Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go and the Creative Sound Blaster Play! 2. How these are compared to the ones in this video I can not say.
PappaSlask Have not tested them so I have no idea.
Bro if there is clipping the mic can be damaged or not..?
will phantom power remove the static noise i have currently running with the bm 800 mic? i use it for gaming and live talk? i get buzzing noises while speaking?
Do you have a USB Soundcard?
I think you should try using usb hub
