- David Bowie performed at Live Aid in front of 72,000 people in Wembley Stadium, London on the 13th July, 1985. Here’s David Bowie being interviewed backstage. The event was organised by Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for the Ethiopian famine disaster. Broadcast across the world via one of the largest satellite link-ups of all time, the concerts were seen by around 40% of the global population.

" send money, you're the real heroes, because if it's easy for me to go out there and sing some songs, it's much harder for you to give money and not to be recognized" ... Wonderful words
Yeah, very sweet message. Only a great person could say that.
metjovi Or be told to say it by his PR department....wake up a bit.
@@richf6111Somehow I don't think Bowie was EVER told what to do or say by ANYBODY...especially not by a "PR department". When an artist is THAT big they a) do and say what they want, not what they are told and b) don't NEED a PR department.
Awwww what a sweet man he is 🥺🤍
I thought about that: he's both right and wrong. Both roles are hard to play depending on who's filling them. Obviously we, the not as talented bunch, would think his job is harder than our roles as anonymous donors, but for us it's much easier to donate anonymously than...to be David Bowie and "sing some songs" XD. All depends on perspective. Side note: just love listening to his voice ahhhh
He was such a legend and a nice guy
I almost always ask myself: "How would David respond to this comment?" or "What if David read this? Would I* be embarrassed or would HE be smiling?". Sometimes, the best response is none. Ppl remember David for being a low-key, modest, guy with a great sense of humor and a warm personality. I want to be remembered for being that polite, & that welcoming. I loved how he rarely sank into the depths of petty gossip; He was just too classy. RIP DAVID💝
Never did I think we would get new footage 35 years later, I’m so happy ;)
Absolutely loving these little backstage clips.
Still not over Bowie.😢❤️
bowie we miss you
Top bloke and deep down so humble too.
Definitely a fascinating and intelligent person he was.
You're my hero Bowie
He's everyone's hero.
'Knocked off a record ' LOL. GOTTA LOVE HIM. BRILLIANT BOWIE He is sorely missed.
live aid is not only queen always remember that there's many more bands perfom that day
1984 Queen stole the show though
@@lookatlifestudios well for queen Fans maybe. But not for everyone else.
@1984 i totally agree
@Look At Life Studios yeah, they’re still sucking it dry
@@lookatlifestudios they did a great show but I don't think they stole it... go and see the rest of shows of that day, they all where amazing!
Elegant man.
Miss this man so much - I was 12 when I got my first Bowie/ziggy haircut - only boy in a small town pretending I was him ha ha . I’m nearly 60 now and I still regularly listen to his music - great man- my hero ;-)
David Bowie always seemed like such a nice guy.
You are so missed David !
I could listen to him talking all day such a sexy voice
i love this guy so much😭 he’s such a cutie here
That message to the camera says alot about David Bowie, I think.
1:07 The man straight up said it himself. Legend.
He was gorgeous! So good looking! Loved him since I was a little girl back in the seventies! Was so sad when Bowie died in 2016!
I was shocked, I couldn't believe he died.
Who can't miss that dude?
This guy had such a great sense of humor.
Well said late David. A true rock hero.
What I also recall on the live post-performance interview - which was very close to him coming offstage absolutely wired and knowing that he'd turned in a superb performance - was that someone asked him something about how he felt and/or what was he going to do next and he said "I'm going home for a really good F***." Had the whole thing, all day, on VHS but sadly lost it. Bought the DVDs on release but of course that wasn't quite the same. Great to see this and other gems emerge on YT.
Good on ya, Dave ❤️
I love this sooo much and I love seeing Paula Yates interview him, she did so much work during this as well♥
Loved the way they just last minute came up with the show in such pro style

Rip Paula and David
Who is Paula?
_.Mara._ JR the lady interviewing was Paula Yates, wife at that time of Bob Geldof.
@@soul4sale1946
Oh, WOW. I completely forgot she was married to Bob at the time. I was just watching David's reaction when she went into "flirt" mode. I think he dodged her compliments rather deftly. I love Michael.. well, I'll leave the rest out of this.
Alysia Mer David-Wasser she was renowned for her flirting
I love this clip!!
What a magical moment!
Such a shame, he seemed like such a great man ! " Heroes" and "Golden Years"...two awesome songs-
R.I.P. to both of them
Ciao David amico della mia crescita , quando rivedo questa tua umanita' e generosita' piango ancora per la grandezza Artistica che abbiamo perso , ti voglio bene David🧡

Brian May Official dude, don’t mislead people by making fake accounts like this
Shut up you fake
@@Fitzroyfallz I think its the real Brian May.
Brian May has more than 39 subs, lol. It's a parody acct.. Even "Jesus Christ" has a YT acct. Just use logic next time: Would Brian write this? smh & lol

Here's a video from the real Brian May acct. If you use this or just search for Brian May, you'll see that his YT site has 311k subs.

#RIP Bowie and Paula
Saw Bowie in the 70s. Alas .. I only had a side view seat and Mick R was behind a bank of speakers !
❤️❤️
💜
Bowie gave up a song time to show the film of the suffering.. 👏❤️
👌
Yo know, I have seen a million and one videos about the artists who played that day and how wonderful they all were, but f**k all about the starving people they were meant to be saving.
THeyr'e dead.
Love the 80s clothes
Wow I thought this video was released years ago
😂 rip david 😭
You accidentally put on a laughing emoji
Orca Dork I put the laughing emoji cause I thought it was a little funny (the interview) I put sad emoji Beacuse he passed away
Ohhhhhh that makes sense
@@FortnitenoobYT199 oh my god wait YOU SHIP THEM TOO!YES
Orca Dork uhm ok
Problem was, the video with Jagger SOUNDS like it was conceived and completed in only a very-wayward 10 hours!..
The interviewer cannot stop herself from...you know..😁. It's the Bowie-effect
Do you have any backstage video about Eric Clapton?
Coll david
His dad was a Yorkshire man so 't' lad can't fail!!!
@Art Lady whooaaa!!! You got it bad!! Calm down you'll do yourself some psychological harm!!! Re!! Just watch bowies interview with parkinson about the spiders from Mars! They where from Yorkshire to! Hull if I'm not mistaken 'you really need to get out more often "
De fondo se escucha el final de Bad de U2, esta terminando la performance de U2...
They got the hots for each other I think ...
I could see that, too lol..
Paula flirted with everyone, it was her thing.

He only did one song and it's here on this channel: ua-cam.com/video/ECN_wgw55lc/v-deo.html
Desperate Mohammedan the World's Strongest Arab yes thanks, I know it! I just really desire that it would be videos of him in the backstage
@@vittoriacroce7850 My misunderstanding. Wonder if there is any backstage footage of him either aired or unaired in the archives?
Hi
Is that Paula Yates interviewing David?
It is
Pls upload Led Zeppelin's Performance D:
Both Led Zeppelin and Santana will not allow their performances to be uploaded so no chance. There's literally more chance of them uploading Ashford & Simpson performing Solid than anything by those artists (Solid is of course the only lost Live Aid performance, but if someone did find it they would no doubt upload it here)
ugh.... no. i've seen it and... it was horrendous. i don't blame them for not wanting their performance to be shown because it was crap.
Desperate Mohammedan the World's Strongest Arab wait why do they not want it uploaded??
@@rogertaylorslostmaraca9893 The first two Led Zeppelin songs (Rock 'n' Roll and Whole Lotta Love) are really bad and under rehearsed. The third and final song (Stairway To Heaven) is OK but not great. Santana were very good so why they wouldn't let their performance be uploaded is a mystery.
Desperate Mohammedan the World's Strongest Arab ohh okay thank you
Paula, funny, beautiful, adorable..... such a waste, I really miss her.....
Yes, two lost legends in that clip :(
@@BaffledApe AMEN !!
Bowie is super chill here. Who is the interviewer?
Paula yates from the tube. Bon geldoff ex wife
The last dandy
Was that Paula, the girl of Bob Geldof then Michael Hutchins?
Jsjsjs
It’s too bad he couldn’t have done Under Pressure with Queen.
There is a mash up of it somewhere on youtube

@sratus Oh look, it’s words-in-the-style of Lester Bangs via his mustache!..
@@jeffkaufman9875 McCartney's moustache.
@status Yes, the words of Lester Bangs channeled via McCartney’s mustache…
@@jeffkaufman9875 Nothing to do with Lester Bangs amigo. It's an Adam & Joe bit.
@sratus Right church, wrong pew perhaps? If you haven’t, look into Lester Bangs and you’ll understand the evocation of your words, wherever you gleaned them…
why in gods name would they record an interview on film but the concert on digital, especially queen's performance
Is that Paula Yates?
No, it's her twin sister.
@@JamesSmith-qy3eu Prick
0:06 -0:12 for a second there, i thought he was flirting
Well...I think he was.
He's sorely missed
Is this the wife of Bob Geldorf`?
Was at the time then she started an affair with Michael Hutchence of INXS.
Who is the Woman on the left?
Paula Yates, died years ago sadly.
@@Markycarandbikestuff thank you
1st Roger Waters flirts non stop with her, now Bowie 😒
Now show the other clip where she interviews him on her show. He was absolutely vile and quite dark. She actually seemed scared. This guy is not the hero everyone thinks.
The vibe I got even from this interview was that he didn't take Paula that seriously and thought she was a bit of a joke.
Is that the one where he's promoting Tin Machine and he's wearing a bright blue suit?
Wow
