so ive done a few practices rounds and ive noticed something from the last couple i have done is that you don't need to hug the wall for Spikesicle. You can go wait either the A or B markers after the second line to wait and carry then carry with the rest of the strat. it makes dodging and moving into the top of the marker or it's sides much easier
thanks! my movement wasn't super efficient earlier on, at this point i usually go to about halfway along the curve of the boss' hitbox (imagine a 45 degree line), and after 2 spikesicles fire i make my way to a point that is sort of lined up with one of the inside tips of the arrow showing its facing on the target ring to wait out the rest of the explosions. some of my melees also have a gamer safe spot in the center and do some microadjusts between spikesicles (precise, but very very small movements) but i haven't tried this one myself yet
xd this is mostly a consequence of ocd and simplifying readability, but to briefly touch on mt/ot vs t1/t2, most fights don't have off tank responsibilities like picking up frequent adds, and the game has various tanking styles where one player does all the autos/positioning and t2 only intervenes once in a while to kitchen sink or invuln a tb, or styles where the tanks alternate holding the boss for periods of time/tankbusters. mt is often used just to say "the tank that pulls the boss" and means little more beyond that in a lot of encounters, while a tanks light party is often relevant across multiple mechanics in every encounter. i think i would employ the main/off tank terminology only in cases where the current tank has one specific responsibility with the boss, while the inactive tank has a responsibility with baiting something or tanking an add etc, but even then the way i am using mt/ot wouldn't be consistent with the playerbase :p tl;dr i think who the mt/ot is can be fluid throughout an encounter, but light parties generally are more fixed and hence for diagrams i think this designation is more readable (esp in encounter design meta where off tank responsibilities are nonexistent). but also i'm ocd and maybe no one else thinks this is good way to do it xd
there is no mandatory tank swap, the only mechanic that has any 'swap' is the tower mechanic tankbuster that hits x6, and for that the tanks just take turns standing in the tower (typically mt > ot > mt > ot > mt > ot). the other tankbusters always target both tanks, so aggro doesn't decide much aside from who is getting auto attacks
Insta block for channels who post boss names not even 10 days before the full release is underway. Really dont get why is it hard for people to not just use "Ex trial 1 DT guide" and put the actual boss name in hashtag until it's okay to know the boss name.
the only one who can control what content you encounter on the internet is you :^) not sure what you expect from a video search engine but thanks for stopping by!
"This is an instablock! But, I'm going to engage with your content and further boost it so others can see it. All because I want to groan like a little piss baby, my entire comment thinly veiled as a lesson you need to be taught. Yea, that'll show you!" Just wait until you hear about Sphene, the true end game boss!
This comment over "OMFG SPOILERS ON UA-cam!!!111 HERE IS MY OUTRAGE" is hilarious because YoshiP literally showed Vali during a previous live letter. If you actually cared about spoilers you would have done all you could to screw your personal algorithm to shove any FF14 related content off of it prior to DT launch. Or, stayed off the Internet/social media in general. This is just raging for the sake of raging. Not to mention, the first two MSQ trials are ALWAYS the two extremes we get at launch. It's been that way for every post-ARR expansion for the past 9 years, and not likely to change anytime soon. To Rainesama: awesome guide, thanks for posting!
@@vielara @orangemc9358 I try my best not to "spoil" things for people but, as you've mentioned, this trial boss was already indicated in a PLL, and at the end of the day, I believe it is the end user's responsibility to take proper measures to preserve their "unspoiled" status. Realistically anyone can interpret anything as a spoiler at any time, and of all places, to cry about it on a video search engine is absurd, and @mizuhasitsunoka knew exactly the risk they were taking when they opened youtube. I think some people are more interested in making sport out of crying spoilers than actually spoiled on anything. Anyways, I'll quit rambling about this subject as I could write books on the coddling this playerbase expects in some regards, appreciate the defense and I also appreciate OP for driving my engagement up! They did me a bigger favor than they realized.
And one more note regarding the algorithm, if I was trying to avoid spoilers, but HAD to use youtube before I could finish MSQ, I would just incognito mode. The odds of being served ffxiv content on a fresh UA-cam history are virtually zero. This is an end-user responsibility.

When do you take swap? Mid or after the tower/blocks?
