This guide was of course made right as 7.1 was being ironed out and implemented. As such, here are the patch notes for anything released after the making of this guide: 7.1 Patch Notes: Crimson Cyclone and Crimson Strike are no longer a strict combo, and in fact, Crimson Cyclone replaces Ifrit's Favor with Crimson Strike Ready, which you can technically use whenever you feel, again, as long as you don't summon a different primal! The rest of the 7.1 Patch Notes for Summoner basically outline potency "changes" that in reality are just a bug fix that was present while this video was being made (however it was quietly ignored with the assumption that it would get fixed in time!)
If you want to make something in depth you can contact me, i've been playing for about 3 months, but I've hit top 25 SMN in the world in that timeframe
Thank you! I'm so glad this is all in one video now. You have such a good, cut- and- dry approach to each job in this game, I just love these videos. Most of these jobs are insane, though. For a slow old man like me, I'm glad there's a job in this game with a simple rotation so I can play with you youngsters. And as a longtime veteran of Final Fantasy, being a Summoner is always the coolest power fantasy role. "COME TO ME, IFRIT!" - my boy, Clive😆
I'm really glad to hear that! 😄 And thank you! And yes, it is important there are jobs that match all sorts of skill levels and speed levels so everyone can participate! 😁
@@velkana play scholar anyway. It's an arduous torturous experience trying to make it's desperate pieces actually function properly. It's the most fun you can have healing.
Great guide as always. Going into the minutia of the different power levels of spells at different level ranges was pretty useful information. I have big problems with Dawntrail summoner and I don't think any of them can be fixed until 8.0. It's a bit of a dang shame because the flavour of the job is right up my alley and the aesthetic is NEARLY perfect.
Something to note, you do need to fight the summons in the msq first before you can learn the summons. So you'll probably be a bit over leveled before then
Really appreciate the excellent guide, as always. Will say that I do prefer the older cadence of the vids where you were a bit slower in presentation. I recognize the game keeps adding things to talk about and that videos beyond a certain length tend to perform worse so I get it, but I do miss the good old days!
Thank you so much! 😁 I think it's more that I've just naturally moved to speaking a bit faster which can be good or bad depending on many things! Hopefully it doesn't go too fast though! 😊
@ luckily the content is so exceptionally laid out and presented that the speed can never outrun the rest of the positive qualities! Always one of the guides I look forward to seeing the most out of the 2 dozen people I sub to in this space. Thanks again for the great work!
I go through and math out the relative strength of my legos at lower levels only to log off and see a summoner guide that did it for me you love to see it, though I'm not sure if mental maths is more or less boring than lota
Yeah that's fair! In a way, they made sure to not rock the boat much, which is perhaps a bit bland, but if you like it as is, that can also be a good thing!
I respect hearing people say they like it. I still main it, even though I’ve been disappointed with it since Endwalker, but I just want as many people to enjoy Summoner as possible.

@@CaetsuChaijiCh I hate quickly switching targets like that too so I set up 8 macros for Rekindle targeting party slots 1-8. Set a hotbar vertically at 80% size and put it to the left of the party list, and place each macro next to the person it'll target. It lines up almost exactly with the party members. Just gotta click the one next to whoever's hurting or tanking. Could probably use a mouseover macro with similar results but I don't like those, and the hotbar setup also works well for other things where you don't normally target allies, like Black Mage's warp or the Tanks' short cooldowns.
I love seeing your glamours lol. It's so cute you've got the recognizable color and silhouette every time. It's a vibe. Do you have something for every job?
Thank you so much! 🥰 For the thumbnails for these guides I use the artifact set for the job colored to match me! For regular use I have role specific sets: One for tanks, one for healers, one for mages (that is strikingly similar to the healer one), one for ranged physical, one for scouts, one for maiming, and one for striking! Most of the sets are based on a particular piece (often a top) given to me by a friend, and the scout set I use for viper and ninja is designed in its entirety by someone, where I only added the hat! The mage and healer outfit is the only one I designed entirely based on my own idea! 😁
Swiftcast does not override the recast time. It only makes the CAST time instant, meaning that you now stand there waiting three full seconds before you can cast again. If you need to move then it helps, but as long as you don't have dreadwyrm trance, using swiftcast on the final ruin in aethercharge is an actual 50 potency gain simply by sneaking it in while the buff is still active 😊
@@CaetsuChaijiCh How, you're right, this is something I was not taking in account. I was thinking it would give me the standard GCD, but yes, they put a strict recast timer ^^'. I'll continue to use it on the fire, since it still give a little more mobility ^^ (and i think at this level, there is nothing better to use it on) thanks for the answer and the advices ^^
Well at this point there are players that enjoy it as it is 😅 although, I do wonder how they will actually build on it since it seems like they've painted themselves into a corner considering what dawntrail gave them!

How to level SMN, in one easy step: Play Scholar to 100.
Can't tell if this is a dig on the Endwalker rework or a dig on DPS queue times. :)
@@TheFrantic5 Mostly the DPS que time, but also a bit of a dig on the rework.
jokes on you, I hate healer
True even though I want to like Summoner because I play Scholar but its so boring. Red mage is an easy job as well but its fun.

That is a pretty interesting detail about the job, but this is typically only a key issue if summoner is your first job. But it is true! 😊

I would like one more primal added to the rotation, and of our choices, I think Ramuh makes the most sense from a lore perspective

At level 50, isn't it better to use swift cast on ruby Ruin, since ruby ruin has a long cast time an it override the long recast time?
