5 years later and your sled is still one of the neatest out there. re-watching just for nostalgia haha
Haha thanks - I’m very proud of my design and I use it almost every time I’m out in the shop
This was the best description I have ever seen of the 5 cut method for squaring up the fence on the CC sled.
I've just listened to quite a few of the bigger UA-cam channels doing cross-cut sleds, came here by accident but ended up learning quite a bit of stuff - > subscribed!
I've looked at a dozen videos for a crosscut sled, your design is easily my favorite. Great video, great tool!
By far one of the best cross cut and miter sleds I've ever saw. Keep up the good work Nick.
This is the best design I've ever seen and I love how straight forward you laid this out. I'm definitely going to use this for the design of my next sled. Thanks!
I still come back and watch this beauty get built. Over and over again!
This is by far the nicest sled I have seen made. Motivated me to build one and will use your design for sure. Thank you!
I really like the combo you did here. I find I am using my sled and separate miter jig a lot but having them work together would make things a lot easier, thanks for the video and great idea Nick :)
Brilliant workmanship. And my high school maths teacher thanks you for making me figure out that 5 cut calibration method.
Your explanation of the five cut fence alignment calculations is absolutely the best on you tube!!! Thank you very much!! Very nice craftsmanship. Clean precise and well thought out!
Best I've seen yet. I now have the model I want to build. Great job, well done.
I have seen a hundred of these sled videos, and yours is by far the best one period! The narration and explaination is so easy to follow. Nicely done man!
Not only is this the most well detailed description of a sled, I’d say that the angle of the video capture as well as the details provided are head and shoulders above the many “sled vids” out there. Thanks Nick!
thanks Eric - I'm very proud of my design and how the video came out - sometimes you never know with the editing
Hands down the best sled video on UA-cam. Thanks for the detailed descriptions and parts lists.
This is great! And I love the jig's, keep on building and I'll keep on watching.
Saw, saw
thats the coolest and most proffessional table saw sled ive ever seen
Yeah this cat has his act together. Easy to listen to an understand. Subbed.
Double F professional. For those who don’t know, that’s extra more pro bro.
Wow! I can only say "Thank you ... very much" Your video inspires and encourages me to try to make one. Well explained, sir.
Great job, even if I didn't understand most of the technical terms, it's very impressive to see you working!
That is damned good work, brother. I really, really, liked the time you took to explain the 5 cut method too. Thank you.
I'm proud of your work on this sled. Well done.
I made this crosscut sled more than a year ago and it is one of my most used table saw accessories. I have no idea what I did without it. It is well worth the time and money to make and you can't find a better design!
Thanks much for the kind words - I’m glad to hear you are enjoying it so much! 👊🏻👊🏻
Cheers thank you for responding back to me, appreciated that. Finding the time to do your work and respond back to all of us. I think you have the managing your time nail down Nick.
Haha I wish my time management was a lot better - no problem - the comments section is one of my favorite parts about making videos - it’s a great forum for discussion
One of the nicest sleds I have ever seen. Thanks for the great details.
That's a great rig, nice build and detail!
Nick Ferry, hi. I wonder if you'd travel all the way to my country & home town, for a month or two, to teach a class of senior wood working women (mostly anyway)??? And to help us understand the building of the table saw jig, the way you have done it. Nice!! Really nice. I'm following your videos. No builds yet though. Bless up.
Well done. A well thought out sled! The calibration technique was sweet.
I appreciate the pace of the video. It is terse and to the point. One criticism I have of
other videos is that they take to long to get to the point!
+John Schell I am glad you thought it was succinct and that you enjoyed it!
One of the best breakdown of the 5-cut method I have seen. Thanks for your clarity on this process, it is much appreciated!
Excellent video. It's amazing how long some of us wait before making a table saw sled. I've been woodworking for 25 years and just made my first.
Excellent.
Best cross cut sled.
You're a genius.
Keep the good videos rolling.
Thank you Nick : Beside making a sled that is truly functional, you also went through the pains of making it look very nice. It expresses the quality of work you do. I want to build one exactly like yours. Thank you for sharing you knowledge with some of us woodworkers who are looking to improve our skills.
Thanks for the kind words - glad you were able to pick up a couple things - thanks for watching!
Great video. I'm building this sled for sure. Parts are ordered. Thanks for the instruction.
I built this 6 months ago. Dude, you are amazing! I use it all the time. I would never go back to not having a sled. The modular design allows me to make all sorts of custom jigs for my work. Using your sled has made my shop a ton of cash. Best $15 I spent in my shop. Thanks a ton man. I appreciate it.
@@NickFerry Love it man! I made a smaller version of the same thing for ease of use. Its a monster of a sled when ya just need to cut small parts. Its holding up well, cuts true and has made my table saw the most used tool in my shop. The only thing I would change is making it out of half inch rather than 3/4. Its a bit heavy. Use the 3/4 for the front and rear fence and half inch for the base and miter/spline addition.
@@thejakyl1369 glad to hear - I did the same for my job site saw - just scaled down a bit
Sensacional, o teu trabalho nota 1000 Nick Ferry!! digno de uma obra prima... Um forte abraço (From Brasil)
FINALLY made the sled. Absolutely the best ever. I was so lucky in that after one adjustment it was perfect to ten thousand. Will use it daily. Can't wait to make the accessories
Best cross-cut sled video of all the hundreds that I’ve watched!! Thanks, I’ll be buying the plans shortly.
"not that particular", this is by far the most detailed sled I've ever seen done.
You’re the bomb. Many thanks for explaining everything so clearly especially the 5 cut method.
I looked at several sled builds and yours is the most versatile. It will save me from building and storing other jigs like a miter sled. I especially like the blade guard safety features. One can't be too careful. Thanks!
Man, that was a great video! I've seen many sled builds, but this was PACKED full of really good inforation. Didn't even seem like an 18 min video!
That was the BEST way I've seen the 5 cut check explained! Seriously great work!
I think I'm going to build another for myself now! That extra space and the attachments tracks open a lot of ideas.
Thanks J - I'm glad you liked it - it was a tough edit - both of my hard drives filled up in the middle of it - made it rather tough - I'm glad it's done
Great job Nick, I need to build a new one myself and like how you did yours guess I know what I will be doing this weekend Thanks
I’ve seen hundreds of these. This is by far one of the best. Great build. Thanks
Thanks - I’m very proud of my design to combine multiple sleds - It’s probably my favorite shop jig I’ve ever made
Dude! Not only is that a brilliant design, with awesome attention to detail, but this is one of the best video tutorials I have ever watched!
Is all of the aluminium hardware by Kreg?
Thank you kindly, yes, all the part numbers and links can be found here - nickferry.com/2015/07/table-saw-cross-cut-miter-sled-in-one-ep58/
Nick Ferry WOW, great functional and GOOD looking sled there Nick. Love the dual function. Almost make me wish we had saws with miter slots over here, just to have an excuse to make this. And BTW you put some great effort in the details on this video. It also came out great. Must have take some time with all the camera setups, and editing.
Thanks man - Yeah the edit took a bit longer on this one but I had never ending computer issues that really delayed stuff
Nick Ferry Hey Nick if your pc is running slow or certain apps run slow... Think about investing in a Solid State drive... Know as ssd drive. I picked one up for my laptop for 80... 256 gb... It's amazingly fast.
Brian Danko I have a solid state - I didn't realize both of my 3TB drives filled up
You have the best aesthetics of any woodworking youtuber I’ve watched so far. Gives me inspiration to improve the quality of even my jigs that no one ever sees.
thanks - I figure if it's a jig I'm going to be using a ton it might as well built it good
I’ve been wood working leisurely for a decade and this video showed me that I’m in kindergarten. Wow this guy needs to be designing tools and jigs.....
Nice job Nick! Made my first sled back in probably 1984 for my Delta 10" Contractors table saw. Learned how to make it while I was an apprentice boat builder. I recently have returned to woodworking, got a nice used table saw and will build yet another sled, although not as fancy as yours with all the tracks and stops, but...I admire your efforts and encourage anyone with a table saw to make a sled! Cheers dude & happy new year. Chamfering the bottom edge of the fence is a MUST!! Cheers dude and Happy New Year!!
+Johnny Fontenot thanks - yeah a sled is really useful - thanks for checking it out!
So I've been working with wood in construction for about 34 years now, and I have to say I have built my share of sleds and jigs, but even I couldn't give a better explanation of the process than the one you've given. A truly magnificent job.
much appreciated - I'm really happy with the sled - the fact that so many folks watched and got into the whole thing is hard for me to believe
It’s not often I find someone as OCD as me. Incredible attention to detail. I can’t wait to build your sled. Thanks so much for sharing.
AWESOME! think yours is my favorite yet. I've been wanting one for so long. I think its time for me to build one and yours maybe it.
Frank Allison wow thanks Frank - I have been using it on a fe projects now and I'm really loving it
excellent description of the 5 cut method, thankyou
Yeah I second that....best description and easier to understand. Well done mate.
I was shopping for a crosscut sled and I didn't think I'd find that would make me look past Incra (I've purchased their table saw fence and router fence systems), but you did. Thank you for a great build at a level of precision my OCD can definitely live with.
This sled plan and your video is great! Thank you for the detailed yet easy to follow instructions. I just ordered my first table saw, and this is the first thing that I’m going to make with and for it.
Stumbled over your channel - I like the way you try to make it as precise as possible and your sense of humor as well. Subscribed instantly.
I've been looking all over for videos about making a sled with the Kreg Top Trak (mine is on the way) I also had an idea to put in a t-trak. This is the best video showing the Kreg system on a sled. Also, the math with the 5-way cut test is awesome, what once was fuzzy is now clear. Great job Nick, very helpful.
Nick my deepest admiration!!!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
+you're more than welcome - I'm just glad I can - I have a ton of fun doing these!!
I've made my sled a few years ago and it's served me well. I really like your build and think its time to build a new one mirroring yours. great job, thank you
OUTSTANDING!!! Great video. I’m going to build this. You sir just gained a new subscriber, lol!! Very well done project, and video.
Much appreciated Eric - glad to have ya here - coffee & snacks are in back and make sure to “knock before you walk”, as the bathroom lock is in need of repair
I absolutely agree with these comments, excellent vid, and well thought out, I'm off to the workshop right now, cheers.
There's a good reason why this video has almost 3-million views.
Thank you for sharing your design and tutorial.
Cheers
Nick. thanks for the explanation of the 5 cut method. you saved me from scrapping a third sled!
where do you get that plywood? i can only get construction grade from the big box stores and they only have 5 plys for 3/4"
Scott Haun I have a local supplier - I will be doing a video on that as well
djAnakin n - I am super fortunate to have all sorts of suppliers near me - a plastics place that sells inexpensive HDPE and UHMW is 4 blocks from my house too - okay now I'm just rubbing it in, lol
Nick Ferry Unsub! ;) I just found you today. I'll give you another chance. :D
I love the comments about the spray paint! You didn't change your tone at all... would have been easy to miss your joke! That's my kind of humor! Thanks!
"4yo spray can.." 😆👍
Thanks for the video. I have this saved for when I'm at that stage in my ww journey.
Great video... loved the Math, my last Job before retirement was in Engineering. I look for videos each morning to have my coffee and learn a new woodworking technic... Excellent job!
Ive already watched this video in the past but I need a new table saw sled and your video was the first and only one that came to my mind! Thanks for the help Nick!
I have been watching table saw sled videos all night for the past 4 1/2- 5 hours. And by far this is the best one I have ever seen. I will be making one just like this, your explanation of the five cut method is spot-on. In my playlists I have a category called "shop talk" and I was going to put only what I felt was the best sled I could find into that category and yours is it. The Wood Whisper's sled was a very close 2nd, but all the fine details and removable miteres did it for me. Great job and keep up the awesome work.
Much appreciated - sounds like you e been doing your research - make sure to check out the tenoning jig I have for it as well - nickferry.com/2016/05/how-to-make-a-spline-and-tenon-jig-ep67/
Bf just bought the plans yesterday and got all the supplies. We're working on building it today! Thanks for all the hard work putting together such awesome plans!
Thanks Nick Ferry, you knocked out of the ball park, your a Rock Star"
+Greg Bungard thank you - I'll have to show that comment to my wife next time I'm in trouble, lol
this is THE best sled i have ever seen...
Gracias! These sled videos of yours are by far the best ! and easy to understand!
I like this design better than any of the other crosscut sleds I've seen. Great job and explanation.
Great sled, probably one of the best. i was impressed by the build and easy to follow description at each stage of the build.
Getting serious about finally building a sled and gotta say, your sled is about THE NICEST on the tube. I like the use of the tracks. Good job again Nick!
much appreciated Jeff - I use it all the time and only wish I would have made it a long time ago
I really enjoyed the video. I just got done making my sled and was curious about the miter sled. you answered all of my questions so now I am ready to make that too. Thank you.
My pleasure - I use the miter portion more in this video - Ⓕ How To Make A Shadow Box (ep59)
ua-cam.com/video/jFxRIjqJPlc/v-deo.html - let me know if you have questions
Revisited this video and Nick gotta say, I watch tons of UA-camrs tutorials and YOU have a gift for teaching brother!
I really appreciate that - it's sometimes hard to get feedback on whether what I'm saying is easily digestible
Great video. Great sled. Ferry commented at the end that he oversized the sled to provide for building shop cabinets. I took a completely different approach. After building two shops and all the cabinetry in them I got tired of that. For my third shop I went to a nearby Habitat for Humanity Restore and found a whole suite of floor and wall-mounted medical cabinets including one four-foot wide, six-drawer unit. They were way cheap, well-built and strong. All I added were new bases for the floor units to bring them up to the height I wanted and new, solid wood tops which I attached to two or more cabinets to gain as much as a ten-foot X 32" or 36" working surface. I don't have a sled, but not for long. Thank you Nick Ferry.

Table saw cross-cut sled and miter sled all in one - if you liked this video please share it.
What the miter blue aluminum tracks for?
Do you sell it?!
ive never heard something explained so well . fantastic video looking forward to making my own. cant wait to check out the rest of your videos
I LOVE THIS PLAN. WOULD LIKE TO BUY A D.V.R OF THIS PLAN. HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST. IF YOU CAN PLEASE REPLY.
Also wanted to mention that I shared this video with a buddy of mine that is also into woodworking :-)
