For everyone saying this doesn't work - You can follow this the majority of the way however when you get to the essential mods part you need to follow the text guide that he has linked in the description as there are far more essential mods now than when this video was made. I used this video to install the main TTW mod and then followed the other guide for everything else and TTW is now running flawlessly for me
Do you also have texture issues where after 5ft infront of you the textures are blurry? The only thing I did with the textures was download his collection
@@elyjhalewis999 i'm playing with vanilla textures and don't have that issue. Are you talking about the NMC Texture Packs? If so I know there are Large, Medium and Small versions. Maybe try the medium one if you're using Large currently. Also, make sure you flick Archive Invalidation OFF and then back ON whenever you install any texture mods. The only other thing I can think of is another mod that accompanies the texture packs called 'NMC's Pre-Generated LOD Updated'. This could help you. Hope you get it running as you wish
@@justinponce7751 hey dude i know its been a week but just in case youre still looking, i found out that if you have any of the newer AMD drivers they completely broke both 3 and New Vegas, even 100% unmodded mine were crashing when i clicked new game. I rolled back my drivers to 23.12.1 that seems to be the most recent version that works. it was as simple as downloading the file from amd and launching it for me

IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE HEAP REPLACER READ THIS!! There has been an update to the Heap Replacer that makes it so you don't have to run the .exe anymore. HOWEVER you have to place this in the Data folder in your Fallout New Vegas directory. Just drag everything in the Data folder and you're all set.
The NVHR doesnt have a mod manager download button, and im unsure if it'll affect something, I had done it via importing it to vortex but i get error msg relating to HR binary
@@Lost_Highway2049 Steps: 1.- Extract the file in your desktop, a new folder should appear. 2.- Open game directory (folder where the game is installed). Here you'll find a folder named "Data". 3.- Drag the "Data" folder from your extracted file to you FNV Directory Folder.
Just a note for anyone not using Vortex. The .exe file isn't in the newest versions of Heap Remover. I had to go back to the 3.2 version to get the .exe file to find out which version I was supposed to use. And then I had to delete the files I didn't need from the NVHR folder and the pdbs folder from the mod. Then just copy the NVHR file to the Data folder. Yay! All done!

This is insane. I literally have been itching to do a tale of two wastelands playthrough for weeks now and I've been gifted this beauty of a video. I'm holding off until you release a follow up video of your recommended mods but I am so excited to lose myself in the Wasteland('s) all over again. Also I hope this means that a certain someone shall be playing through fallout 3 since their last playthrough was cut too short due to unforeseen circumstances ;)
I've had no problem up until 22:43 I have nothing in that folder for that mod that says "cpu_info.exe" And those .dll are not in separate folders, they're all shown in the single folder. I did use the collection you made. EDIT: Future me, dont worry just start the game without doing that, that window will pop up before the game starts and it will tell you which one you need.
I can’t believe I tried 3 separate guides and none of them worked EXCEPT YOURS. This guide was easy to follow, and using vortex instead of a jank mod manager makes my life so much easier. Thank you Gopher.

So I learned how to Mod with Vortex solely through Trial and Error. Fallout Dust and New California being as large and confusing as they were was my major test. Now I'm thinking of doing a TTW playthrough but the install seemed a bit intimidating since it's a lot of words and requirements just kind of thrown at you. This tutorial should help a ton. Thank you for the super easy and quick tutorial I just want to add, for the mods to work for me after adding the essentials collection, I then have to delete showoff nvse and re-download it on vortex, then delete nvhr and install it completely manually After that works like a charm
This works on steam deck too if anyone is wondering. MO2 doesn't work so I did it through Vortex. I just ran the exe patcher in windows and copied it over and created the mod files in windows as well. Had to do that in UTM with the ARM Windows 11 because I have an M1 mac and not a windows computer and it still worked fine.

I started playing fallout 3 when I was on deployment. My sergeant was into cracked pc games and he downloaded borderlands 2 and fallout 3 to my gaming pc. Fell in love with it and played the crap out of it but didn't finish it. Now 10 years later I'm playing it again but this time I bought it.

Worked like a charm except for NVHR. Your collection tries to pull the latest version and I had nothing but problems with it. 3.2 is the way to go even now in sept 2022. This is of course my experience. Other than that everything else worked like a charm Thanks !

For anyone using the latest AMD drivers, if the game crashes when starting a new game / loading a save, install a mod called DXVK and use windowed mode. Using windowed mode is actually important because the game will lag like crazy if you don't. Hopefully AMD will patch this issue, but the only alternative is to supposedly downgrade the AMD drivers, but that's not recommended as it'll likely affect other games.
Thanks for the video and the Essential Mods Collection. I'm actually going to try and install TTW into Community Managed NMM to see if I can duplicate what you've done here in Vortex. I downloaded all the files a while ago, but got intimidated because I'm not used to the Mod Manager they recommended and preferred to use Vortex instead. Thank you for this, it helped a lot!
I saw the sequence at the beginning as a commercial on G4, and it changed everything. I'd never played a fallout game, and had actually actively disliked morrowind and Oblivion on console, so I was not a Bethesda fan. That add, however, gave me chills. The dark satire of it oozed ambiance. I bought the game the next day and just lived in it for ages. In my mind that is the best add of all time for a video game.

One question I do have though. Is now when I click the launcher for NVSE I see a black script window pop up on the left of my screen before the game starts, any idea why this is happening.

It is still, even after Bethesda's update, easier to play a modded Fallout 3 for me through this method. It's so annoying the lengths we gotta go to play these things sometimes lol. I do appreciate the guide tho you were a tremendous help:)
I definitely want to see the next video recommending other mods to install with TTW 3. There's actually very little information out there detailing what mods are compatible and why when it comes to TTW 3 and a in-depth explanation of that or at least a list of mods that reliably work alongside TTW 3 would be appreciated.
I agree. I had no trouble with 3 or 4, but for some reason I could never get New Vegas mods to work properly. This is the first one I haven't had any issues with but I wanna add more. Especially to the New Vegas side of things.
Funny i came back here expecting to see thousands of comments, i thought this upload was MUCH older than it really is. I cant believe how new this tutorial is. infact i installed this mod using this video ON THE DAY IT CAME OUT. Simply on a whim. I just felt an itch to play fallout. Im hoping to see more of the mods you can recommend for a TTW playthrough, textures, lighting, water, Project Nevada is something I was interested in seeing run in both 3 and NV.

Love how creepy/unsettling fallout 3 felt, The wasteland felt so unknown and dangerous. I wouldn’t even travel around at night because I would be scared of the enemies 😂

Excellent job of a detailed method (2 actually) of installing TTW. The cadence of his voice is clear and capitvating (he doesn't put you to sleep). Totally enjoyed his presentation. Again, Excellent! job.
Can confirm this installation process with the essentials collection worked for me! Very exicted to jump into Fallout 3 again as it has been a long time, but will hold off for the followup to this. Cheers for tossing this all together!

Gopher, your collect makes this SUPER easy. Still had issues with the INI file, but your instructions made that easy to fix up.

Made it very easy to get this working. This is my first time playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas so this should make Fallout 3 more bearable from what I have heard.
Love to see a gopher collection of mods you'd add to ttw besides the vanilla. We have similar tastes so your modpacks are always the best.

I had it running using this tutorial, was advised that mo2 is better, and then spent three weeks not playing, and reverted back to this and should be playing this weekend.
I saw TOTW quite awhile ago but never got around to installing it as it looked like a ton of work and I was new to modding. TY very much. I am currently in the process of installing your collections :)

I didn't know how much i needed a TTW Gopher playthrough, before this showed up.
I was talking to my spouse about reinstalling and setting up these games with TTW the other day. This was very well timed release.
There have been some great conversations for alton, Il and Washingtons malevolence, i highly recommend them for a playthrough
I love Fallout 3, as you already Said it gives nostalgia played it First when I was 11 the Intro still gives me goosebumps.

For anyone using the latest AMD drivers, if the game crashes when starting a new game / loading a save, install a mod called DXVK and use windowed mode. Using windowed mode is actually important because the game will lag like crazy if you don't. Hopefully AMD will patch this issue, but the only alternative is to supposedly downgrade the AMD drivers, but that's not recommended as it'll likely affect other games.

I downloaded all the files a while ago, but got intimidated because I'm not used to the Mod Manager they recommended and preferred to use Vortex instead. Thank you for this, it helped a lot!

I saw the sequence at the beginning as a commercial on G4, and it changed everything. I'd never played a fallout game, and had actually actively disliked morrowind and Oblivion on console, so I was not a Bethesda fan. That add, however, gave me chills. The dark satire of it oozed ambiance. I bought the game the next day and just lived in it for ages. In my mind that is the best add of all time for a video game.
You too? I get that nostalgia feeling whenever I think of the 700 + hours I have played of Both 3 and NV. I'm happy to see this video as I've needed something as a stress reliever from my work and I have always trusted your guides 100% Love you man

Thank you for making these tutorials, I did a playthrough on each back when they first came out. I was going to play FO3 and then NV, until I found this video while browsing on the couch with the Nvidia shield. Never imagined I'd get to do both at the same time like this! What luck, Just happens that I suck at MO2 and already have prem vortex account. You're a gamers hero of sort.😁👍
Excellent work! Also for those with AMD GPUs download the DXVK. This last step was what got me pass the game crashing in the roulette loading screen

One question I do have though. Is now when I click the launcher for NVSE I see a black script window pop up on the left of my screen before the game starts, any idea why this is happening.
@@jeffsnipes8766 You might've figured it out by now, but in case you haven't: the script window is just New Vegas Script Extender launching.

I just did a TTW play though of FO3, it was pretty fun ! It was also the first time playing on PC and Modding in general
It is still, even after Bethesda's update, easier to play a modded Fallout 3 for me through this method. It's so annoying the lengths we gotta go to play these things sometimes lol. I do appreciate the guide tho you were a tremendous help:)

There's actually very little information out there detailing what mods are compatible and why when it comes to TTW 3 and a in-depth explanation of that or at least a list of mods that reliably work alongside TTW 3 would be appreciated.
I agree. I had no trouble with 3 or 4, but for some reason I could never get New Vegas mods to work properly. This is the first one I haven't had any issues with but I wanna add more. Especially to the New Vegas side of things.

Funny i came back here expecting to see thousands of comments, i thought this upload was MUCH older than it really is. I cant believe how new this tutorial is. infact i installed this mod using this video ON THE DAY IT CAME OUT. Simply on a whim. I just felt an itch to play fallout.
Im hoping to see more of the mods you can recommend for a TTW playthrough, textures, lighting, water, Project Nevada is something I was interested in seeing run in both 3 and NV.
