Excellent description thanks. Dichroic film does crinkle and wrinkle with a heat gun which we use for resin arts. Heating enables the fusion of 2 or more layers to create different effects and colours.
Great video Hannah! Beautiful beads- I think my favorite are the last ones you showed that look like Roman glass. I have a soft spot for Roman glass, but it's delicate. The dichroic coating would be much sturdier. I used to do glass fusing. It was really a satisfying hobby. The sort of standard way to make a fused glass pendant is to put a clear glass piece over whatever design you make with different colors, stringers, etc. When I used dichroic glass, I like to make it without the clear glass on top, as I really liked the texture.
@@elizabethkjewelryandart Hi Elizabeth! I too love Roman glass, I have a necklace i cherish. I had no idea you did glass fusing, that’s cool! Did you have your own kiln or could do it in a studio? Thanks for watching!
@@HannahsHeirlooms I have a kiln suitable for small glass, enamel, and silver clay projects. My husband bought it for me almost 20 years ago now. It was such a thoughtful gift. I used it often and learning to do those crafts really helped me when I was grieving my dad. I still have supplies for doing all three, but it's been years since I've used them. Maybe some day I'll dedicate more time to those. I made a few small ceramic projects using my kiln, too
Great dichroic glass beads video! Love the cylinder shaped beads - colors! 😍 And frosted ones too 😮😍 Now I’m sad I sold few dichroic glass jewelry pieces. I want them back 😅
Thank you hannah! I fell in love with the dichroic glass look when i first saw a video on saphiret glass and ive been searching for a term that allows me to find similar beads online. I love that color shift!
Wow! I wish I had watched this video a month ago. I just unboxed some beads that were certainly dichroic glass beads! Some seemed like bracelets that lost their stretch but now I know that they were strands of awesome dichroic beads! I'm happy for the people who got them but I would have loved to nerd out about them before I sold them. Lol! Thanks again Hannah! Awesome info. Bless you!!
I enjoyed this! I love learning, and you present the information on a level that a layperson like me can grasp. I had no idea that there was that much difference between foil and dichroic glass, or that the dichroic process was first formulated for the space program. I enjoyed seeing the beautiful examples you showed. Great video! 💕 😊
@@MistyAtSkeeterJones Aw, thank you Misty! ♥️ You are always so kind, I’m glad to know I explained things well. When I think I’ve found all there is to know about glass, more things uncover, there’s so much to learn and see!
@Hannah-FleursDeMontagne It's already helped me. Yesterday I was about to be duped into bidding on some "dichroic" glass that was actually foil. 😉 I would not have been able to tell the difference if I hadn't seen your video!
@@MistyAtSkeeterJones Oh yes! Another thing that is popular is “dichroic” resin cabochons. Not sure that the film used is actually coated with dichroic, could be. But they look similar to glass for sure.
Such beautiful beads! Love!!!
@@PrincessCasserole Hi Carla!! Aren’t they just mesmerizing?!
WOW, Hannah, I have a whole new appreciation for Dichroic glass … Who knew? Thanks for another informative and interesting video.

The creation of dichroic film is not unlike the creation of L.E.D lamps.
