For splicing jobs like this get a roll of Butal rubber lineman's electrical tape, it has no adhesive, stretches and sticks to itself for a good tight waterproof seal! The Evo-Wagon is my favorite build, stoked to see you put an aftermarket ECU in.
@@Danger-Dave better hope you never have a issue with that repair 😂 I say adhesive lined heat shrink and Tesa tape (actual Tesa, I haven't found a suitable knock off that's consistent). A fender liner probably wouldn't hurt (coming from the guy who has no fender liner what so ever… well the hood I guess?😂)
When I had a 99 GSX, my wastegate dump tube broke, and melted the harness that runs along the bottom of the radiator, chased those odd issues for a month before finding that.
For the trunk i'd bedliner it then build your own false floor and carpet it. Same with behind the rear seats. I'd take that thin fiber board and trim it to fit then wrap it in carpet.
Feel like reaching out to Dave on a hand with this interior would be a solid choice, he's great with one off things like this. Plus he's been doing his interior for the hellcat wagon build
I thought the interior was already done. Has the Evo seats, dash, front carpet and door cards with wagon headliner, pillar trim, rear carpet and side panels.
ALWAYS use adhesive lined heat shrink. Also get some Tesa tape. A little trick with Tesa tape is to quickly run a torch on it to heat up the adhesive for even a stronger bond (it's stupid sticky anyway but more never hurts!). The wagon (as in the fact it's a wagon) is so sic! The paint is premium! I want to paint my Vic that color but flat. (I tried some matte pearl white but it's way too beige 🤮)
I feel your pain trev. Here in denver and my 1st ever brand new to me car got smoked in the hail storm a few months ago. Gr corolla is now a toyota golf ball
Check your grounds! Did they make it in the swap? Certainly can make that starter struggle and alternator not charge/run the electronics. Do a nice thick cable from alternator (as close to housing or on the housing if possible) to body and battery negative to body. Honda always has that issue with the ground strap from the front left corner valve cover to header support (you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about 😂)
It almost sounds like it needs a decompression switch , or a higher amp starter . Most of these kind of cars are notorious for coming with very low amperage alternators . Maybe they also come with a low amp starter .
Definitely some sort of issue starting when heat soaked. Not sure if the battery voltage is weird from a failing alternator or there is a starter solenoid issue from the increased voltage. Or maybe resistance in the rotating assembly of the engine when hot. Kinda weird, but an amazing car!
I wonder if those wires shorting out has damaged your battery or alternator? Does the battery go flat overnight? I have a Haltech Elite 2500 in my evo wagon and its just had a flex fuel tune. Video on my channel in a few weeks if you're interested. I think a decent car stereo shop could retrim the cargo area. If you want detailed photos of my oem evo wagon trim just reach out. cheers from Australia
Battery cells are dying is old and sitting for ever, Stronger battery for the power it needs to turn over, Alternator sucks even if new(replaced to a 3rd one for my EF hatch in 1 month they don't make'em like they use to). More ground, and lastly replace the charging wire from alternator and run new one directly to battery. Those are my guesses. Other than that I absolutely love that evo wagon
Sounds like the starter isn't chooching right as far as the hot start goes especially with the squeal. The dying issue can be a magnitude of things, most likely maf/map, vac leak or IAC/throttle body issue. CPS/CKPS usually don't care if you're giving it throttle or idling for that matter and just leaves the chat. But maybe Mitsubishi has an issue that it likes to play games? 🤷 Sensors can be assholes and not everyone acts up the same. Not every computer utilizes them the same either so I certainly could be wrong.
You might be just as well off doing a giant custom sub box made out of fiberglass or whatever with 2 12s and just have it wrap around everything back there.
Id trust my wire twist before id trust a crimp connector....... Id cut them and twist and solder real quick, hit with dielectric grease then heat shrink, then tape and sheath.
Its not a race car there is no reason to have it so low u cant even get the lift under it. Vinyl electric tape is not for exterior wiring. There is a specific exterior fabric tape basically hockey tape for exterior wiring thats weater proof. Come on Trevor u should know the difference in electrical tape uses.
Where you see 75 amp? Even if so I would think 75A would still be plenty for his car. No lights on, assuming no HVAC and no radio with a stock ECU. Don't get me wrong, change that immediately if it's below 130A.
75amps is around 80% duty of the rated 90amps And everyone know once you go passed the 80% mark on alts they just start dying. So yea its probably not enough to be honest. I didn't even throw heat into the factor here. 🤣
@@anasamla little high on those numbers for a 4 cylinder. 10A pump, 5A injectors, 20A coils. IAC runs on 5v circuit don't it? The highest draw will be fan/s. (Aside from the starter) I've actually never clamped my draw from the vehicle. My system pulls ~450 amps peak though😂
@commonsenseisdeadin2023 The guy is running 30psi plus. 30psi on top of standard 44psi base fuel puts him at 84psi. Dw's ampdraw chart puts that at 15amps for a dw340. Unsure if he has just 1 pump or 2, it could be 2. Coil on plug setups are commonly known to draw upto 10amps per coil on boosted applications of stock cars, his draw could be even more. Iacv are primitive in the sense that they don't have a 0amp value, to open cost amps and to close costs amps and they're constantly adjusting. Hence why modern cars switch to electronic throttle body's as another electrically efficient method to control the emmisions and idle loads. Basically less duty on the injectors means less hydrocarbon blah blah blah. In stock form the car would be fine to run the stock alternator, but with his setup he's basically pushing everything near max, add the heat of 700hp in the factor then yea, his charging system is over stressed.
