    For modelling g and fine details I’d recommend using Milliput Superfine White. It has a different quality better suited for this kind of sculpting. Terracotta and Standard Grey are pretty much the same except for the colour and are better for larger works and general filling.

    Great video! I really like the way you are demonstrating certain techniques but also it is clear you are learning yourself and we are all on the same journey together just maybe at different stages on the journey!

    A suggestion: the completed model (very cool btw) that you primed black to better show the details and “sharp edges” if you zenithal prime w white primer the details will stand out to the naked eye and on camera. Also zenithal priming is a great way to start any model painting project.

      I forgot to mention the in the video but I’m going to paint it in a future video where I try some NMM for the first time. But yeah I think I’ll try to make sure I do that in future videos

      Also I have never heard of zenith all prime before but I’ll look into that, thanks for the tip!

      Zenithal Priming is after you have primed in black (or dark colour) you lightly prime in white (or light colour) from the direction of the source lighting you choose. It really shows the details of a model and gives you a good perspective for your highlights when painting. Another benefit for you in this is the camera would really pic up the details when showing the viewers.

    Genuinely love your sculpting videos man! In my opinion there is a real lack of active channels that have mini sculpting as a prevalent component. Can't wait for more!

      Also I want to second what was said before about using a zenithal prime to showcase details.

      Thank you, that’s part of the reason I started the channel, and I’ll have to check out the zenithal primer

    Terracotta is used mainly for fixing garden pots etc, the standard grey stuff is more suited for military miniatures as it hasn't the crumbling effect...

    Thank you for these fantastic videos. I think you are very talented and inventive. Was just wondering. Could you possibly use Dás Clay. Its like stone clay?

    • @magicmissileminis9723
      @magicmissileminis9723  2 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately Das clay doesn’t work, since it’s an air dry clay the smaller the piece of clay the faster it will dry so you minis is going to be half dry and falling apart as you sculpt it. If your looking for a cheaper alternative to green stuff that acts more like das clay you could try using “milliput” it’s feel more like das clay to work with but is also works the way green stuff works, I did a video on it actually so you can check that out if you like

    If you want the miliput to be more pliable and sticky. Use it with greenstuff 50/50. It will still be able to be filed.

    • @magicmissileminis9723

      Oh cool, I wasn’t sure if you would still be able to file it, thanks for the tip

    You are so talented! I'm binge watching your videos. But why do you use just epoxy putty, instead of polymer clay on a putty layer? I never used miliput, but green stuff is very hard to work with. It's great for conversions, when you can't bake the mini, but when making something from scratch, it could be a pain in the bumbum.

    • @magicmissileminis9723
      @magicmissileminis9723  3 роки тому +1

      I really don’t like having to bake a clay for the mini too be finished and you just have to add layers and let them set, it just what I used to to be honest. When I started out I just got green stuff and started working I don’t find it to be that difficult but again that’s just because I’m familiar with the material.

    • @Nosculptor
      @Nosculptor 3 роки тому +1

      @@magicmissileminis9723 Yes, I get your point. In the end, everything just comes down to what material we know the best, and thus we are confortable to work with.

    • @magicmissileminis9723

    I’m surprised you got any result with terracotta milliput, it’s far more Sandy, and it’s particals are larger then standard yellow green. what you really needed was white fine milliput for sculpting, it then wouldn’t crumble apart on you.

    You used the cheapest Milliput. It’s not the right grade for this work. Superfine White is for sculpting. You didn’t mix it properly neither. I make two identical snakes of each part and then twist them together. I repeat this a few times, and then knead and knead and knead. It’s the best sculpting material if you know how to use it.
