    4 years later this video still the bestest tutorial for sculpting my own minis. Sadly I have no access to green stuff so I gotta work with cold porcelain or that epoxy used to do plumbing repairs. Works kinda fine for large non-humanoid shapes.

    I’m surprised you got any result with terracotta milliput, it’s far more Sandy, and it’s particals are larger then standard yellow green. what you really needed was white fine milliput for sculpting, it then wouldn’t crumble apart on you.

    I need to paint a miniature of a ghost and have watched several videos in a row where their big idea for making it look ghostly was to have a green wash and some white and call it good. This is the first one that actually shows some thought and gives more of an impression of what a ghost might look like. Thank you, it's very helpful!

    You can wet surfaces you don't want to stick to green stuff. Also oil and Vaseline works apparently. Though I have not tried it. But good video, thanks 👍🏼

    Those aren't needle nose pliers. Those meet at a flat but corrugated surface. The ones you have are I think jeweller's pliers though I am not sure, and actually they are far better for what you are doing than actual needle nose pliers.

    Amazing modeling is almost like 3D printed, I can´t get green stuff or any epoxy clay in my country, there is only one brand that is like the closest thing but is meant for fixing stuff it is named Poxilina and is a small box not like an amount you would use for sculpting

    You used the cheapest Milliput. It’s not the right grade for this work. Superfine White is for sculpting. You didn’t mix it properly neither. I make two identical snakes of each part and then twist them together. I repeat this a few times, and then knead and knead and knead. It’s the best sculpting material if you know how to use it.

    Terracotta is used mainly for fixing garden pots etc, the standard grey stuff is more suited for military miniatures as it hasn't the crumbling effect...

    For modelling g and fine details I’d recommend using Milliput Superfine White. It has a different quality better suited for this kind of sculpting. Terracotta and Standard Grey are pretty much the same except for the colour and are better for larger works and general filling.

    What is that you’re sculpting with exactly? I’ve been using polymer clay but that’s not what you seem to be using

  • @PassengerOnTheMenu
    @PassengerOnTheMenu Рік тому

    For a better quality (and less sticky) sculpting material, add a mix of green stuff (kneadatite) and milliput. Green stuff is rubbery soft when it sets and doesn't take to sanding/carving well, whereas milliput does as it tends to dry more firm, but it's brittle. The combination of both cancels out the weaknesses of both and leaving the best qualities of the two. Also, if you're looking for inexpensive thin wire, try florist/floral wire. Probably what was used in the video.
