Part of the problem is them going to the same places over and over it's not special anymore. As Jim always says, "How can we miss you if you never go away?"
All 3 times they came to Philly, they went to the part of the city no one dares enter.
@@johnnygrind77 why?
They went with the typical "we care about the marginalized!"?
I agree come to tulsa
I don't think that the problem probably is the only problem they have is they always mention wwe and they pretty much lie to the fans when they first started if anyone still remembers not once there pushing new talent there pretty much doing what wcw did hired a bunch washup wrestlers or bring in new talent that they won't used
I mean there's only so many arenas
Tony never suspected Vince would step down. That move singlehandedly did more damage to AEW than anything else. Tony’s business model was built off being the land of the misfit toys that were tossed to the side by the evil empire while also developing new toys of they’re own. Tony’s head got too big that he got lost in his own success and ideas that are terrible.
Tony should have gone home when he had the chance.
Damn you're right, now that hhh seems to be mostly improving at least communication with the wrestlers they really have lost a big reason, if not the biggest reason to go to aew
@@OmegaRedFan Or at least let a booker who actually understands wrestling do the creative.
Couldn’t have put it Better Myself Bro …. 💯
We have seen numerous times it easier to launch company or brand for first year or 2 , because your building new top champion, natural buzz, fresh faces / matches , new look, easier to build feuds, new “gimmicks” are introduced, we seen WWE do the same with SD Live on USA or ECW Brand
With AEW it was have Jericho build championship up , just rotate everything else around Cody, Moxley and Omega, now they have taken all Indy talent or ex misused wwe guys , cant really use them all, feels AEW started to fail was Cody leaving and Adam Cole vs Hangman feud , who better off now then in beginning of year : Mox, MJF, Acclaimed,
Thunder Rosa, Cm Punk title reigns really hurt company and had a lot of injuries
The fact that Dynamite is celebrating its 3-year Anniversary in the same city it had its first show is interesting. Even more with the fact they are now in an arena that has barely sold 2k tickets when their first show in the same city sold over 12k. But it comes down to the biggest problem with AEW, the same problem, Tony Khan. He refuses to adapt, change or get the help he needs for the show. Now that everyone has seen the real AEW over the last several months, people understand it's not better than WWE. It lives and breaths on trying to take shots at the other company while doing the same half-ass Indie show every week.
Yep. AEW's entire foundation was "we're indies who hate the WWE (because we wanted to be the ones making the goofy skits, but we're not gonna tell ya that part)." That is literally the only reason AEW exists. Now that Vince has been put to pasture and HHH is at least trying to get things fixed over there, what does AEW have? That's the problem with building something on a foundation of hate - It falls when the hate dies.
@@jesuszamora6949 That’s poignant. I mean, really beautifully said. So many folks operate on that type of hate fuel, and burn out quickly
@@RedBuffaloBull Indeed. Hate is a poison that damages everything, from great nations to the soul of the individual. If people loved outside promotions with the energy that they hated WWE, we wouldn't be in this situation.
The main problem is that their product is catered to the niche indy loving crowds
This gives them the loyal dedicated fanbase that tunes in every week for dynamite, which is 800K to 900K.
But drives away the casual fanbase that wants to watch stars and fueds that do not have backstage/insider references.
And so these casual fans will not be aware of aew to go and buy a ticket when they are in town and the ticket sales is going to hit them hard if they don't pivot soon.
@@vishalthefirst4140 the actual fanbase is really only about 600k or so. The rest are people who just want to watch wrestling no matter the company.
“Talking about them for a while?” Modesty is an admirable trait, but Brian should give him & Jim more credit. They’ve been talking about those problems in AEW for almost 2 years. Back when the rest of the media couldn’t stop gushing over that promotion. As much as it upsets some people, turns out the old & “irrelevant” guys were right all along.
Yeah, I would trust more a guy that created a promotion before than some random mark that thinks he is a journalist.
@@RandalfElVikingo Created a promotion, main evented in several, had the book more than once, and trained some of the greatest names of the Ruthless Agression era. Yeah, Jim's the guy Tony should have trusted, not Meltzer.

The problem is for me is that they have a belt on half the roster. Nothing is special. And their tnt champs are never booked right
AEW is a mess and it's booking is god awful.
The only feuds I can remember are MJFs ones with Jericho, Punk and Wardlow and that says more about MJF than AEW. His the glaring bright gem in the Garbage pile. AEW doesn't deserve him
WWE Booking isn't good but it's better than AEWs at least.
There just so much of "Look Marks. We got an EX WWE guy or a NJPW wrestler to debut in AEW. Now overhype them to be the next "Megastar" whilst they do absolutely nothing to boost business" AEW can do before it gets old and reeks if desperation.
This is TK living out his fantasy booking with daddies money. That's all this is and most of the booking is just hardcore marks "Dream match ups" with little to no storytelling because apart from MJF feuds.. they put barely any effort into building a story.
@@metalheadjake3339 moxley vs Omega was one of the best feuds in recent years. Mox vs punk was good as well.

I agree, as someone who has just recently gotten back into the WWE, and has attempted to get into AEW. It is so confusing to keep track of which belt is which.
Tony 'momentum killer' Khan. Sign ex WWE star.. debut, entrance pop, take shots.. that's his formula. The guy at Dynamite with the Khan>>>HHH sign made me laugh🤣
Tony khan would rather openly say he signed a wrestler for a few weeks of cheap pop.

How much they would both Cost (Last- Cornette)to turn around AEW, and FIRE the circus sideshow freaks that Tony McKahnMan Drooools over!
They want wwe PPV prices for dynamite in Toronto. Like at the B arena too. Not the NBA/NHL one.
Just checked, damn they are expensive. Looks like they're asking for at least double what I paid for similar seats to see Raw at Scotiabank 6 weeks ago. And while most seats are sold, looks like ~15% of them are getting 'resold'. Not sure how much of that is TicketMasters legalized scalping vs actual 'changed my mind, not gunna go' folks though.
@@dgthe3 and how is that different for WWE events or any event these days. Reselling is a huge issue.
Same here in Philly. They wanted $150 for seats in the lower bowl of an arena that mostly hosts high school graduations.
I'm a big AEW fan but man I can't afford to bring my family to this event. I was REALLY looking forward to Omega/Jericho back home in Canada. It really really made me sad that this was as expensive as a Toronto Maple Leaf Ticket (WAY OVER PRICED). There is no way I can go to this event. It really really really disapointed me the cost of tickets. I'll still watch the show but man the disapointment is real.
I tried to go to the show in Detroit a few months back and the cheapest ticket was going for 250 so taking my family would have cost 1000 plus all the extra expenses associated with going to live events. No way no how would I pay that much for any show let alone a wrestling show especially in the current FJB economy.
It cost me $190 for my Survivor Series ticket in the loge....AEW isn't worth nearly that much and they're charging that for nosebleeds?
exactly it was a gofundme type promotion, so many people were on social media telling folks they got their tickets from a kickstarter campaign or some project reward. and it was fueled by people desperate for something new, but now it has lost it's appeal, the idea of the company is a fantasy and reality is setting end.
Exactly. This was an effort by marks both behind the rails and inside the ring to use the anti-wwe bandwagon to use as fuel. Now that triple dad H, who is fond of some indyrific talent, is in charge of wwe and the evil boss is retired, there is no reason to truly want to see the empire to burn.
@@chuckles9767 It wasn't when they saw big money that they changed.
It was when WB/Discovery stepped in and told them to stop running a carnival show with blood and cursing all the time, and at least try to put on a professional program to compete with WWE, or lose their television slots.
The crucifixion angle put them on the watchlist. Then the MJF "pipebomb" promo when the WB/Discovery executives were there completely backfired on Tony CoKhan, who knows why he thought that was a good idea to bump ratings or interest.
Now with the EVP's driving away their biggest draw in Punk and dividing the fanbase down the middle, was the final nail in the coffin, and the rumours the AEW television contract will not be renewed is closer to fact than speculation.

The Bucks are hated even more since everyone can see thru there bs. Tony is made into a laughing stock and doesn't understand that in order to increase in revenue, u gotta expand the product. The booking issues and higher ticket prices aside, people might have an issue with sitting through 5 hour shows in the middle of a week. Too much of a good thing can be bad, too much ofva bad or mediocre thing is worse.
When my friends and I went we were shocked at the length of the show. Don't get me wrong we like wrestling but the last dark match ending at 1140 and the show started at 630 was a little much for a Wednesday.
Wrestling is like porn. There are not that many different things you can show, so you should keep your shows short, lest the people will get bored.
Fun fact: AEW has been in existence for 3 years.and in that time, they have had 118 shows in Chicago.

This is just like what happened to all the territories back in the late ‘80s - early ‘90s. The departure of Cody Rhodes back to WWE, the mismanagement by Tony Khan, and the retirement of Vince McMahon have become really big problems for AEW. Maybe Vince was right in his view of not being a real threat all along.
This is what they've chosen. Anti wwe, catering to a small niche audience. This clearly has a ceiling. If they're not happy with this financially they need to accept they gotta change things up.
I watch the pirated highlights on UA-cam, it's free
AEW prices are stupid expensive. The names are not there. The writing is terrible. It looks like amateur wrestling, like they have never worked together
Lol you have no idea what amateur wrestling even is
It's odd how we all analyze this so much when in the end all it comes down to is the TV deal. They're either going to win or lose based on that one thing. I think they burned out their welcome online with the constant dirt sheets spins and lies. I remember Bryan Alvarez saying Jungle Boys was the next Ricky Morton. Conrad telling Bisch to be more positive? Positive for what? What's the point in being delusional positive when the product sucks, has been around for 3 years and is getting worse? It's insane to think that if AEW never moved to TBS and didn't get the Big Bang lead in, they actually would likely be doing 900K or less.
And in other news Royal Rumble 2023 ticket sales are through the roof. 25000 tickets already sold
And funny enough, many of those people going to the Rumble are expecting to see Cody.
The are not seeing any Cody he ain’t anything special but hyped by smarks because nobody believes he will leave his position as EVP of AEW. Trust me if not for his injury he would have died down by now. He’s 37 and wrestle like a midcard guy just like Owens Balors and Seth . Casuals don’t care about him but Indy smarks. He ain’t winning the Rumble not even in plan the Rock vs Rock is the match at so fi stadium, Vince might have retired but he is call the shot with phone calls when it comes to his BOX OFFICE ATTRACTION matches. It’s either Cody vs Seth for the United States championship or against Gunter who himself is wayyyyyy better than overrated Cody who will be 38 next year. WWE are not in hurry they are trying to make Roman break the Hogan 1000 plus day’s championship reign in modern ERA and Roman is the only wrestler than can do it since 80s and Roman will put a much younger talent in his 20s OVER when the time comes he is just 37 too same age as Riddle Drew Cody Ciampa and co . They not going to waste Roman almost 3yrs title reigns on an established wwe/Indy guy like Cody who will be 38yrs after mania, an EVP and a midcard guy of a rival company few months ago

Tony is doing a bunch of things wrong, including going to the exact same venues over and over again, bad booking, losing their number one draw, the borderline garbage TV they've been putting on lately and the fact that wrestling itself just isn't as popular as it was 20 years ago. Who is going to pay to watch a big budget version of ECW in 2000 when they were on TNN? The problem with ECW is that it worked too well between 1995 and 1998 when it was literally almost exclusively at the ECW arena. The whole presentation worked for that venue, crowd and that time period. You're not going to duplicate that in a big arena, and you wouldn't want to. I wouldn't want to duplicate the Attitude Era either because that wouldn't work in 2022 long term. You have to have good booking coupled with psychology and a modern presentation. The last problem Tony has is that his roster is way too big. He's paying guys to not be on TV or even Dark. I don't even know if Pillman Jr is still with the company, and honestly, he was better as a babyface than Wheeler Yuta. That promo he did on Malakai Black in the ring a while back showed promise. But instead, we're getting all these lame indie guys who have zero upside because they all look like the guys from New Japan that Tony Khan likes. Who is going to watch this product now without CM Punk?
Pullman Jr showed more promise than jumgle boy..he has more upside than yuta and wheeler combined. And can't get on TV.
Khan is screwing up a golden opportunity
It’s amazing how aew copy wwe with the whole championship title contender match with the champion. Then of you beat champion you get a title shot. Everyone against it when wwe did it and now aew does it geez
Thank you! It's the most ridiculous angle. Can you imagine doing the same thing in boxing or MMA?

AEW has already lost its magic and appeal from casual/wrestling audiences! Garbage angles, factions, titles, stipulations, promos, bleeding, and misused stars! Now the conflict among the evps and other stars have sealed the nail in the coffin!
Not only that, but when tony khan purchase roh it was nonstop on trying to reach tv network deals for roh the problem is the roster is over inflated and some folks barely have any tv time or at all wrestling at dark which many wrestlers are having second thoughts on joining aew.
@@oatz8449 definitely agree! Integrating some of the roh aspects into AEW is nothing but a dumpster fire! It’d be better for tony to do an annual roh show or something for consistency! Just like wwe’s revived ecw brand and wcw 2000, it’s going downhill quick!
AEW never had appeal from a “casual” audience. And that’s been it’s biggest problem. Outside those checking it out once or twice - which isn’t casual or an audience - the non people watching AEW since it’s inception are the hardcore base of fans. And they never got casual fans because it hasn’t been booked to try and bring them in. Everything on that program, other than the Punk and some MJF stuff, has been geared specifically towards those who follow this stuff 24/7 and will watch no matter what. And it makes no sense to cater to an audience that’ll show up anyway.
Wanna know how bad the problems are at AEW? Even Meltzer is acknowledging them, which is a little like Baghdad Bob saying Iraq might lose this one.
This is hysterical.
Jim and Brian, I doubt you'll ever see this, but it's worth mentioning: Tony Kahn has never produced anything in his life. He never made a football team better, he never made a soccer team win games, he's basically a guy that does what he does because his dad owns the company(ies). Being in the professional sports industry for a bit there, I HIGHLY doubt the owner's son is listened to by ANYONE in a position of power. (He's not hiring and firing players, he's not calling the plays, etc...) He MAY have a say on ticket prices or hot dog prices, but that's it. He's a "billionaire" by birth, and to be honest the more often he says it the more it turns people off. "I have more money than they do." (Talking about WWE) Do you think he ACTUALLY KNOWS WWE is a billion dollar FRANCHISE and he's just a rich guy's son? WWE has people around it that run the world, Disney, Fox, Tony doesn't have more money than those conglomerates. All that mixed with, whenever he talks he squeaks and, quite honestly, HE needs to go away. He looks like a whiny rich kid that can't get what he wants and so brags about how much he has. Don't talk about it, show us. And maybe dress like you got money Tony? Or at least STOP dressing like you're on meth. Thanks for your time fellas.
One of the worst things to happen to aew was the shit-canning of Vince. A lot of those who left because of Vince saw returning as an option under 3xh.
The problem is that they never established any thing worth caring about. I think that's the underrated thing about wwe. They have the history and lore worth caring about
That and AEW has an aversion to recapping things for casual viewers who tune in. If you tune into wwe randomly one night they recap what the issue is before a match, so even if you aren’t a regular viewer you know why you’re supposed to care. AEW doesn’t do this they just expect you to know. So if you don’t regularly watch you don’t have a clue what’s going on or why you should care and tune out.
Tony Khan took in all the people rejected by Vince. They were happy at first... then their roster kept getting bigger and bigger... next thing you know, the people who wanted a good home are now back to similar grounds. Boss ignoring them and not making good of promises he gave. Now some want to go back but are locked down by huge contracts.
The roster is way too bloated and the person booking/writing the show is in over his head.
The concept was great.....
Ruby Soho was a prime example of this. If Tony had 2 braincells to rub together, she'd have the TBS belt while Jade is still kicking around developmental.
@@FuckBalls64 im fine with Jade as TBS champ since her physique and on screen presence shouts champion. Sure, WWE has a 40 year headstart but AEW marks keep making out AEW is this HUGE mega deal like WWE... it isn't an NEVER WILL BE

Talk about a 40 year headstat.. what other pro wrestling company has been that huge and successful for that long.
The fact that those AEW marks even thought AEW had any chance to kill WWE is hilarious. WWE has went against worse (WCW) and the territories and won

Tonys problem is he does not want to share success. He's literally like a child that doesn't want to share his toys. It's all his. If he let someone else write the show and it was successful, I believe he would get jealous and take back over again. He's his own worst enemy.
The points about crowd funding really resonated with me. It's true with All in and easily first 18 months of AEW, the hardcores would do anything to help the wrestlers, stick it to wwe, and made it feel like it was our company. I don't know if there was an exact time, but definitely in the last 6 months if not longer it went from our company to Tony's company. And Tony's company and vision is not something I will run through a wall for, whereas if All In was in North Dakota I would have been there
Elaborate, what happened in the last six months?
I think another problem that's starting to show is Tony Khan's growing ego. He shot himself in the foot when he talked about how he has a lot of money to compete with the WWE. What does that supposed to mean? Shouldn't the better thing to brag about be how we have better talent, matches and creativity? He can't say that because that part isn't true except in a few exceptional instances. He can't say that he's making stars when the pushes are mostly artificial and force fed. And the fans don't want to hear someone brag about their deep pockets. When you brag about that, that makes you seem that is your only noteworthy quality, which in Tony Khan's case at this juncture, it is the truth.
I will reiterate the exact moment in time where AEW completely missed the ball. It was last year's Grand Slam. They had a chance to build up Bryan Danielson as the Man along with Ruby Soho. Kenny Omega was going to be out for a while regardless and now he's out again. Instead, they pushed Adam Page, who was a failure as a champion because of the "long term story telling" meme in AEW. The thing is that Tony Khan has zero sense of timing and it just feels he made these promises and can't keep them or doesn't want to hurt people's feelings or whatever which has made things awkward. They could've done everything right at that show but it's been a steady decline. It didn't really matter who else they could have gotten after that point because they got two of the hottest people around that certified them as a real competitor. And one guy clearly was having the best matches.
The question now becomes what next? The current show is a train wreck. The promotions I don't think were what the company needed. They need someone better the QT Marshall to write their TV for one (if he's still doing it), they need a creative genius to write up compelling stories with issues that matter and are relevant for today's society, they need to stop letting the green people get air time when they're clearly not ready or at least be lackeys in the background and shown that they have a ways to go before moving up, they need more matches that can keep people's attention by being shorter so they can broadcast more wrestlers to show a taste of what they can do and prevent them from overexposing themselves, they should eliminate all but the key people in blood feuds or going for the main titles from speaking and limit those talking segments BIG TIME (like the unending JAS segment or Saraya sadly shooting herself in the foot), they need a commissioner figure to be the one announcing matches and being shown as the main PR representative during scrums rather than allowing Tony Khan to ever be put in the public's eye again, they need to stop having every match or at least one match per week be given stipulations UNLESS IT'S TRULY WARRANTED to make those instances special again, and someone needs to show wrestlers how to create a flow in a match. The ring psychology and story telling in this promotion is near non-existent except with a limited number of people. Before Tony mentions his DAD'S money (not his own because Tony never earned it on his own), he should fix the above mentioned issues first.
I'm still surprised AEW has not gone to the west coast yet. It's freaking insane. They have gone to Albany twice but not phoenix or any places in California. Come on guys.
I'm surprised when I read that they never went to Washington. I was like "You got BD and you never had a show there? Why?"
Did they ever go to California? Considering that is PWG territory.
I wish they'd come to Portland Oregon. I love AEW.. but I agree with most.. they definitely need more TV time.. and TK needs lower his pride and get some creative consulting for sure
@@rizkyanandita8227 they had a Dynamite/Rampage in LA in June this year.
Of course AEW has been to So. Cal. They will be going to Seattle next January and the SF Bay Area next February or March.
In January Seattle gets to experience Tony's McKahnMahon's Orange juice fetish wrestler and Mox Ambrose trying to pretend to be a Tough Guy!
The tickets are getting too expensive. Last time they were in Chicago I got a 10th row floor seat for 65 dollars. The same seat at the next show coming up before Thanksgiving is 560 dollars. Even the nosebleeds are getting expensive after ticketbastard adds on all their fees .
Cody leaving was the first big fall. He pretty much helped start it and u could tell it went down after that. Second, they didn’t hire the right talent. They had a chance to grab kross, Dakota, all those ppl that went back to wwe. They instead sign the worst wwe talent in the likes of aqa, Tony nese, daivari (though I like him), 2.0, Marina shafir (I mean that’s bad there), etc. why waste money on ppl that don’t draw? U could’ve saved it on stars that could draw and help them. The third issue is that ridiculous forbidden door. That wasn’t no forbidden door, that was a charity event. Who cares about any of those new Japan nobodies? Besides osprey & co. The last thing is that stupidity of buying roh. What did they have left to buy at that time? I mean they couldn’t even make enough money to keep their talent. Who would buy a mid promotion like that? The scrum was the nail on the coffin & Vince retiring. Those two things killed them & here we are watching an impact/tna part 2. A company who had lots of momentum who could’ve been big, but blew it over dumb ass decisions.
So…for several times in a few months to a year, AEW went to the same cities (ex. Chicago), the same venues, where the same people lived in or by, and thought this was a good, sustainable business model that would stand the test of time? Tony expected the same people to want to or even be able to fork over a good chunk of money for tickets, concessions, merch, and parking several times in the matter of months.
Tony just learned that his action figures talk back. Now, he has to realize that his audience isn’t computer-generated for GM and Universe Mode.
The shows end so late in the middle of the week if I had been to a show I would not want to go to another one because everybody’s tired in the end and let’s be honest rampage is not some thing that ends the show with something worthwhile.
That’s what happens when they do 100 shows in Chicago and go to the same places over and over
I don’t want to pay good money for tickets, parking, food before or during or afterwards to watch a high production version of botchamaina. The show sucks and the revolution is never happening let’s move on...
Looking back, Cody Rhodes went away just at the right time.
When they had a backstage brawl and someone got thrown Into a bathroom door..... it flew open and there stood Orange tangerine. Gloryholing I presume.
I haven't watched a minute of this clown show since.
I actually decided to quit watching AEW. To be honest I really don't enjoy it so why do I keep watching it? Before Punk... I kept watching it so I could see the stuff Jim was talking about. You know laugh about the nonsense. Just watch Jericho vs. Gage. Then Punk arrived and I'm interested. Everything he said after the pay per view was correct. Now Punk is gone? What is my investment? I said to myself, "So what if FTR has some classic match, what does it mean? The next match will just be some 150 pounder sticking his hands in his pockets." With Chucky moving to Wednesdays at the same time as AEW and Stargirl my DVR is like... Conflict! I was like... No, not really, bye AEW. Then I canceled Rampage. I don't need to watch every wrestling show I can because I can. I don't have a desire to watch Impact. What happens week to week on AEW that would make a normal, sane person, with a life, and stuff to do invest 3 hours a week in this product? Jim hit the nail on the head here. People rallied behind this product to stick a middle finger to Vince. Now Vince is gone. Hunter gave us the greatness that NXT was. And if someone and I know they will wants to talk trash... NXT was the best wrestling show for atleast 2 years. Probably more. It looked the most like a wrestling show. It was treated like a wrestling show. They didn't have a guy sticking his hands in his pockets doing fake superkicks. I was watching Mandy Rose vs whoever she wrestled. I think it was the chick that comes out with Josh Briggs and the virgin. Point being. Mandy Rose isn't known for her wrestling ability. That match looked like Flair vs Steamboat compared to anything including men in AEW. Speaking of which. Did Alexa Bliss not throw punches on this week's RAW better than anyone in AEW?
Wait...you were watching pro wrestling treating it like it's MMA?
You daft or something?
@@Ticketman99 So you love knee slaps and fake super kicks? Yeah tell me something I didn't already know. You apparently have nothing going on for you so I'll take 30 seconds out of my life to mock you. Good day.
"Try to run a real promotion Pinocchio" - Jim Cornette
I guess this is what happens when 70% of your star's gimmicks are just "I hate WWE"
Tont Kahn lost any credibility he might have had, the moment he started appearing and speaking on camera.
The guy should have always been a Silent Partner.
He doesn’t have the magnetism to lead front and center, the way a Vince McMahon, or an Eric Bischoff, or a Paul Heyman did.
None of those guys were perfect, but they could do TV.
When they spoke, they grabbed your attention. When Tony talks, I cringe a little.
Tony Kahn reminding us of how much money he has keeps me from buying tickets in Philly. They ran twice this year.
Yes, and even the tickets for Atlantic City are at least 20% more than last time. And AC has never been successful with events held outside if the casinos. So far, less than 900 tickets have sold.
MJF Pipebomb pretty much explains it all
WWE and AEW are in almost opposite positions now. In 2021, AEW were selling more than WWE. WWE was struggling to sell out arenas. If you looked on Ticketmaster last year, WWE was only selling low level sections and even then they were struggling to sell those. AEW was doing just fine selling out arenas. Now? AEW is struggling just as bad as WWE last year and WWE is selling tickets more than they have in quite some time.
There was a lot of things going for AEW when they first started and right after the Pandemic.
When they first started it was new. There is an audience for in America for New Japan. There's an audience for the bigger indy promotions like PWG and the only way people who like those styles got to see them for a long time was on the internet.
So it was new, people wanted to see the Bucks, Omega, Brian Cage had buzz coming in. Lance Archer had a lot buzz Moxley and Jericho being the icing on the cake.
For all the Darby Allens, MJF, Sammy Guevaras that got over there was a lot of wtf are these people and why are they in a wrestling ring.
So then the Pandemic hits and coming out of it people are starved to get out. They want live events, so coming back out people wanted to buy tickets to be part of the crowd.
Now AEW has cycled through that. There's no novelty in these returning towns. They're there for a long time doing tapings so they're burning out the audience.
If I set through 5 or 6 hours of AEW in April I may not want to go spend another 5 or 6 hours in June.
There's no Bucks, No Omega, No Punk. Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia have potential to be solid midcard workers but they're never going to be headline mainevent box office draws the way MJF is going to be, the way Darby could be if used better the way Moxley is for them.
Tony Khan isn't too popular with us Philly folk lmfao
Same with us South Jersey people.
They don’t tour the West coast. They finally went to California after almost three years of Dynamite, then back to the East coast. They didn’t go to Washington State, Arizona, Oregon, hell, even Utah.
WWE hits all of those markets, including overseas and it works out where they hit most places, once a year. Then it’s fresh for people to want to to back. Instead, they go to fricking Chicago, NY, Philly, WV three times a year. So annoying.
I really wish I could take the word "smark" back. I'm an educated fan but I don't think about that when I watch. My late husband was the same way. He got so into it that he would legit get angry when his guy lost. He knew I knew all the secrets because I would read online and things like that but I would never spoil it. And I would tell him I want you to keep your enthusiasm and your love. I'm smart because growing up during the attitude era I wanted to be a female Jim Ross. I would love to be a play-by-play announcer on Raw that was something I wanted to be ever since I was a little girl. So that's how I ended up becoming a "smarter fan" so to speak. I don't like the people that go out of their way to try to ruin things for everybody. Even though I know the things that I know I still get so much enjoyment. My ruin something for somebody if they're legitimately enjoying it? I'm starting to think that possibly my type of fandom is one that no longer exists in the mainstream
I am not discounting any of Jim and Brian's points but I think economic factors could be playing a part too. The cost of living has gone up for many folks over the last few months and tickets to see a live wrestling show would probably be one of the first things people cut from their budget.
wwe ticket sales are mostly up though so I think it's more the product and losing interest than the economy
@@KC-vx5wo I didn't know the WWE ticket sales were up. I guess we really can just blame the quality (or lack thereof) of the product. I haven't personally compared but prices could be a factor too. I've heard that AEW tickets are more expensive than Smackdown tickets recently.
Won't blame Brandon
I don't think so at all. I believe the newness of AEW is starting to die. Tony Khan is about to enter a period where he'll have to prove himself as a book/CEO/Owner/Promoter.
People who could afford ringside seats before the cost of living rises can still afford ringside seats. Don't be led to believe everyone is suffering.
AEW just sucks, it's not interesting, and the only reason it's still watched now is because of the ex WWE guys.. So basically if it wasn't for WWE they would've tanked in 2020 lol
Them virginal Aew fans will turn on every single last one of them eventually. I can't believe 7 and half years of them chatting for CM Punk and 1 year to completely destroy his love for the business. Ha.
I could go see AEW in Chicago if I wanted to, but AEW is just such a bad show. There's very poor continuity to the booking. Tony keeps pushing more guys like Danny Garcia, Jungleboy, Wheeler Yuta, Pockets, etc instead of more of a Starks, Hobbs and even Wardlow lately who look like stars and have something to them. They barely have a women's division and there are 2 belts. They build new stars poorly-just because Excrement knows them doesn't mean we do, etc. Plus the ppvs are like 5 hours...after 3 hours of a wrestling show, I'm done. Even this local Indy show I am going to later this month is not only shorter but there's an intermission in the middle and you can get autographs/take photos with the talent before and after the show. Plus avoiding the Chicago traffic is mentally healthy and I don't need to get shot 🤪
I’m not much of an AEW fan. Just couldn’t get into sitting through a whole episode as it just seemed so random.
But to hear it started as a type of Go Fund Me project has me floored. Tony Kahn week in and week out gloats about how much money he has. Makes no damn sense.
I am wondering what happens to the Chicago market without cm punk ?
Well they were there before they had cm punk so
Can’t wait to hear the Chicago crowd just randomly chant cm punk every 5 minutes at random aew wrestlers
@@peterlee6374 yea they will .
Was getting ready for bed till i got notifications from corny blessing us with more videos!!
Same. Lol
A mark is like a Star Wars fan that won’t criticize the last jedi.
Part of the problem is the talent.
AEW can't even sell out Atlantic city anymore, and we only get Big Time wrestling every once in a while.
Couldn’t make Atlantic City Show, I love to gamble but not with AEW
To say AC is a dump would be an insult to dumps
@@roozoo And they built a nice outlet mall there. They started getting robbed daily. People didn't think that one through.
Will AEW still exist in 2025? I'm starting to have my doubts.
Khan can get bored and lose interest at any time and then its all over.
It'll still be around, but on Destination America or whatever that channel is called now.
Random, but I still love that Cody vs Nick Aldis match from All In.
What I like is most of aew recent problems stem from hiring the saviour CM Punk 🤣🤣
7 years of cm punk chants for that 😂😂
the show just sucks now. i was an AEW faithful from the beginning, holding onto all hope we'd get a decent wrestling promotion. the past year has killed 90% or more of the enjoyment i found in pro wrestling, i'm just over it. there's occasional good matches, but its not worth sifting through all the shit. i'll tune in for mjf segments but other then that i'm pretty much done with the rest of the product.
In AEW, the actual wrestling looks like a video game.
In WWE, the TV presentation looks like a video game.
I hate both those aspects.
In IMPACT, everything looks Non Playable Character
They go to the same place every day week almost. They have to go out west more often.
Was curious about grand slam ticket prices.... cheapest seats were $89?!
AEW was better when we didn't know anything about Tony Khan. He was some man of mystery that a wrestler would mention booking a match here or there. And then we saw that he's a childish mark that acts like someone hopped up on speed.
Ticket resellers bought most of the tickets at first that’s how AEW gets those sold out labels. The issue is that they had a hard time reselling those tickets fir a profit so now they don’t buy as much. Punk return was technically a sell out but tickets were available day of for as low as $3
How many times can you go to Chicago in one year?
It was always the same people at every show, their money for shows is running out after covid and inflation
I know AEW isn’t shown on tv in Canada. We have to pay for a bonus on their app to watch shows. I am surprised they have not done a show in Winnipeg Canada, home of jerhico and Kenny.
Its on TSN every Wednesday night!!!!
Why hasn't Tony done a show in England in Fulham's stadium yet
Because Fulham hates Tony.
"It's all gonna end in tears."
I don't think his father would allow that. Shahid Khan care more about his Association Football team compared to his other sports endeavors.
Not gonna happen that’s where his dad makes his biggest profit if Fulham get into the premier league that’s a lot of money
@@kiezorfc8559 Not true - Fulham have lost nearly half a billion pounds so far in their tenure. They are fantasising about spending their way in to the Elites, but when you look at the commercial deals of the Big 6 clubs (for example shirt sponsors typically above £30m pa compared to £5m for the remaining clubs), you have to spend years of making substantial losses and now you have Newcastle in and around the mix who are being subsidised for the purposes of Sportswashing.
Fulham's TV money in the PL may make them almost break even, but there isn't much profit there. The Jaguars however because of the financial structure of the NFL are a guaranteed profit making business, no matter how badly they are run
Tony books to that hardcore fan AEW already has instead of growing the fan base. If you see camera shots, it's all groups of guys 20-30 with the occasional female and a minority of it being families.
Also, they never flesh out characters with layers, never bothering to explain where they came from or what their agenda is. Like Juice....use your fOrBidDeN dOoR to get video of the guy, give him a minute pre recorded promo to explain why he's come to AEW.
Feel bad for that great young talent at AEW.
Wardlow, Acclaimed, Gunn boys...wasted. I stopped watching, but man those guys are talented and charismatic. FTR and MJF languishing with Khan's booking.
And the Women's division...ugh. that fell apart. So much potential.
I don't.
All of them could've been in UFC but here we are
All In in my opinion drew the crowd with a big help with the NWA Worlds Championship Belt. That's what drew me to the show.
Stupid interim championships and CM Punk vs The Elite fight has killed AEW.
