Drones could be one thing where we could be very good at. Drones do not demand heavy industry such as tanks, rockets and so on. Plus we don't have much manpower, so any type of unmaned device will boost our fighting capabilities a lot.

Propably a good idea. Border troubles are something hostile powers can exploit or even cause in order to subvert the west and to cause damage to western countries without a declaration of war. NATO could take border control as a little more serious security issue to be solved. Also the jamming of GPS signals used by commercial air traffic should be countered by firm measures.
