As a DoD contractor for my entire career for 20 years, I have to say you’re among the very best resources for civilians and aviation enthusiasts for solid and concise information with no fluff and exaggerations unlike many other media outlets. Yes sure my colleagues and I are more privy to much of the details discussed in these videos that we obviously cannot disclose; but when my friends and family wants to know what’s in the pipeline, you are the one that gets it damn close with nuanced and honest reporting; and whom I can reliably refer to them without question. I honestly believe that journalism schools should use your work for their curriculum as to what good journalism is. You never brush over the surface and take off with wild claims, yet also present enough detail quickly as to not bore anyone. After all, oftentimes journalism can be a form of entertainment as well.. educational entertainment of current and emerging events and technologies if you will. Your videos are great examples of what good, high quality journalism is. For that, my colleagues and I thank you. You explain things better than we could for our own friends and family when they ask questions. Your analogies make things so easily digestible. Also, you are quite fast to take on these press releases! You must spend several hours doing a ton of research, and also producing a script to belt out these knowledgeable videos so quickly. All your work is absolute well-deserved of all these awards. You thank us, but no, THANK YOU for YOUR hard work and research!

Alex, any award bestowed upon you has been earned by you, through thorough research and due diligence. Just because you love doing it does not mean it is any less a job than anyone else's. It just makes you very fortunate, to be able to make a living from something you might just do anyway. Another winning point is your presentation, I find it very easy to listen to you, and you explain so much so it is easy to understand. As a Vet, I thank you for your service, and feel happy you have gone on to other successful endeavours. Wear your tux with pride, you earned it, and thank you for all your videos.

Congrats on the awards and nominations, getting aviation news that is acurrate (to a point of course) is often thin on the ground and tends to lack details. Any more news on the V-280 Valor? For this drone/ fighter, having it optionally manned would be a good way to go as the USAF thought that the F-35 was going to be the great replacement fighter for most of its fleet, maybe this manned/unmanned type of aircraft may be the way to go. Even if the USAF looks at this on sheer costs alone, having a manned version of this aircraft paired with two unmanned versions would be very cost effective and could be a good general patrol platform for the US and allies. Stealthy, massive range and relatively cost effective... whats not worry about if you lose 5 or of the unmanned versions in an engagement ( and they are only really going to learn from the experience anyway once the blackbox's are recovered ) Good job all round, especially with the channel 😀
You earned it bro! The nomination and your subscribers are because of one thing. Your work. You did this. Take a moment to be proud of yourself good sir. Looking forward to the next video.
Congratulations, Mr. Hollings on the nomination. I wish you luck. With respect to the Vanguard, why slave the AI versions to a Raptor or Thunderbolt II? Since there is a piloted Vanguard, slave the AI Vanguards with various loads for a complete strike group. One AI Vanguard serves as an EW platform. Another serves as recon. A couple will have AA loads. And the rest of the AI Vanguards will perform AG tasks. The piloted Vanguard will manage the group and provide the human authorization. Since all craft in the group have roughly the same signature, it adds a level of difficulty to determine which craft has the pilots. Also, maintenance time and supply needs will be lower because of similar platforms.
At $5 million each they are probably missing a lot of systems that a F22 or F35 have. If you are flying into contested airspace you would much rather have an F35 with its AN/APG-85 radar then whatever would be included with the Vanguard. Flying with a Raptor or Thunderbolt probably increases the effectiveness of each Vanguard.
Hi Alex, Many congratulations to you for your nomination!! You’d be amazed at how far back you can trace Northrops lineage when you stand among their best work. Hangar IV at the USAF Museum at Wright Patterson in Dayton. It’s possible to stand in front of PAV-1 (YF-23), face Tacit Blue (BSAX) and see a full-sized B-2 mock up just to your right (it’s an ENORMOUS HANGAR). If you look closely, you can absolutely see the lineage between BSAX and the B-2, and from both of them to the YF-23. The rounded edges and chines and razor thin, almost imperceptible transitions from one to the other. Now with Vanguard, as you pointed out, you can clearly see the RQ-180 and B-21 DNA. And not for nothing, but I still see Tacit Blue in the aft section on the airplane as well. Great stuff, innit?!

I think we need a lot more low cost combat aircraft like this for lower threat missions. I like the idea of a scaled up version of this along with a combat version of the T-7. Those two could really help boost fighter numbers. Of course the Air Force has to fix the pilot training system first because it's a mess right now.
Congrats on the nomination bud, but honestly pretty much every aviation video I watch these days quotes you directly. To me that kind of impact is worth more than any award. Keep up the good work Alex.
They're game changers in so many ways that I hesitate on anyone's firm predictions. Following the drone arms-race and tactics in Ukraine, I see a strong incentive for aggressive drones that attempt to dogfight with OPFOR manned platforms. This further reduces the more advanced nation's priority on close-engagements and dogfights, yet significantly pressures the less advanced nation to increase its fighters' dogfighting capabilities. If these things can really be priced like a handful of Tomahawks, other roles like serving as wild weasels is a natural choice. In both cases, command might opt for a belligerent, expendable disposition. Taking out SAMs or fighters are usually both worth the cost of a few cruise missiles. Just the small drones in combination with ballistic missiles and glide bombs have done a terrific job of limiting bolder maneuvering in Ukraine, and we've seen elements like Russia air power retreat to the edges. If used expendably, the Vanguard could have twice the range of a Tomahawk missile, with more speed as well as its stealth profile. Stationing these in Europe and the Pacific threatens the entirety of Russia. The unpredictability of outcomes that this platform unlocks makes adaptation ever more difficult. Without an adequate response, do conventional air assets crumble in paranoia? I think it's absolutely terrifying to think about these continent-spanning machines being unleashed, perhaps silently muttering "I Have a Rendezvous with Death."
