I saw him about 10 years ago and his concert was shockingly good! I thought since he was older that it wouldn’t be super impressive. But he blew me away. His voice was a lot better then though.
This first originally aired in 2012. About a week before my mother passed away. Been a Beatles fan since I was about 6 years old in 1967. A Martin Short fan since the 1970’s. My daughter who was away in college sent me this before she came home for the holidays. I watched it many many times. It helped me thru that rough time.
Paul is so funny and cute without even needing to try. And he’s a musical genius, coming up with Yesterday and Let It Be in his dreams. He’s just naturally amazing in every way and I can’t get enough of him 😭
I remember watching this at 10 when it aired. I feeling so alone that Christmas, but I knew Paul McCartney was going to guest star. It was then I felt so apart of something so special. This song means a lot to me. I still feel lonely most of the time, but it doesn't mean that feeling is true. I am thankfully still alive to spend it with the people that matter most. OMG! I thought it was a special surprise from this week’s show because I am watching it in clips and this one came up next. I thought he looked awfully good, plus Dana is in the current episode. I didn’t even notice that they both looked considerably younger.
That was very fun. Martin Short is certainly a great character actor. What a treat to have Paul McCartney and accompanied by a choir of angels singing A wonderful Christmas song.
The cold open is tough to watch and not cry. This episode aired just after the Sandy Hook massacre. The angelic voices of the children singing “sleep in heavenly peace” gets me every time.
Sometimes, especially when the world looks like the light has gone out, you get moments to remind you there’s so many fires and stars burning to give light through that darkness. A horror occurred, which for too many occurs way too much in our country, but we need to remind ourselves to laugh, smile, and take joy in what was and what may be. Voices lost, never to be heard again, will echo to future generations until there’ll (hopefully) come a time when we needn’t fear more massacres in our country.

Paul was a serviceable straight man for the other Beatles and Chris Farley, and he might be the funniest member of some bands, but he's the 4th funniest Beatle. 1. John (no contest) 2. Ringo (See A Hard Day's Night to confirm 1 & 2.) 3. George. See the Beatles early press conferences, his appearance singing the Pirates Song on Eric Idle's show, the Cracker Palace video, and give George comedy points for being Monty Python's Life of Brian patron. Paul is #4. I guess when you're the most talented, hardest working, and best looking Beatle you don't really have to be the funniest. He's still my favorite artist/entertainer of the 20th century.

What I so love about it is that Macca is frequently slagged for this as just another schmaltzy pop piece, but clearly it is QUALITY (!) and Paul knows it! Bringing out a real children's choir just reiniforces this fact and also that Paul is completely confident in this as a legitimate effort and part of his oeuvre. Just LOVE it! And Lorne Michaels for making it happen. SNL is truly a cultural icon- the same as Paul and the BEATLES!!! ❤❤❤
