Spent the day walking around with my dog Reed and the Hasselblad 500CM. Just got a sweet neck strap for the Hasselblad and wanted to see how shooting with that and the waist level finder is. I shot one roll of Ilford HP5 black and white film.
Film Development:
Hc110 : 20 ml concentrate : 780 ml H20
Developed 10 min @ 21 degrees Celsius
(My standard brew for Ilford HP5 Plus and Kodak HC110)
Hope you enjoy!

Yes! Worth every penny 👍

the house photo is sick mate! liked the video, Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, thanks for watching!
I just posted a video about my grandfathers Hasselblad 500c/m, I guess that’s why your video was recommended to me. Instantly subscribed! Keep up the good work, cheers from The Netherlands 🇳🇱👊
Thank you my friend! Love your channel. You have a new subscriber. Take care!
This is a dream camera, and your photos are top notch as usual
Thanks Alex! Love my Hasselblad for sure! Just sent you an email with updated info. trying to get to the bottom of it.
Nice video great Puppy and lovely Daughter…you bring memories as I lived in Milwaukee years ago and considered my home town coming to the U.S. Hasselblad are great cameras,,,I have a 503CX and a couple lenses. Like your videos man…learning a lot! Be safe… Cheers..
Thanks Alejandro! Appreciate it 🙏
great work
Many many thanks
Thanks for this photowalk! I really enjoy these. I got weary thinking about leaving all that expensive equipment in the trunk. Must be a nice neighbourhood!
Glad you enjoyed this! The neighborhood by that park is about as safe as it gets!
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Looks like a perfect day, and so cool that you could spend it with your golden and your daughter. Re the powerline issue, I gave up long ago trying to work too hard around them and now I incorporate them as part of the composition. I figure they're part of the landscape, so why try to hide that they're there.
Thank you! I fully agree, but sometimes struggle (mentally) if they are in a weird or distracting place...
I love the way things look thru the WLF, but the prism works better for me for accurate composition and focus, plus it’s really useful to have the meter sometimes. Nice video.
I feel the exact same way. I do try to use the WLF every so often but ultimately find the prism far superior. The one thing I do not like is the added weight and bulk. But is def worth it. Thank you!
I really enjoyed your video! Quality time with daughter and Reid (sp ? ). Anyway I never knew the real function/ reason behind the yellow filter in particular; now I do thank you so much! I need to pick one up and add it to my Hassy Bag. Be careful out in the woods, esp Reid and ticks (yall too) thank you again and stay safe!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
Hasselblad and Golden Retriever is how I roll too :)
Best of both worlds 😁
I really liked this video. I've got a Hasselblad 503CW and a couple of lenses. It has a the waist finder but it never really grew on me. I had trouble focusing it (old eyes). I think one of the backs is loaded with Portra 400 (old) and the other is empty. There are probably YT videos on the subject but a a walkthru of the Hasselblad would be cool. I'm trying to work my way back to LF but I'd rather spend some time with 35mm and MF. I just developed 36 exposure roll of Ilford Pan F Plus 50 and I had 33% keepers (12 of 36, some of the non-keepers were just duplicates so not necessarily bad). I intentionally overexposed the roll by one stop and under developed by 50% and I'm pretty happy with what I got. If I had 30% keepers on my DSLR's I'd be ecstatic (Landscape and wildlife are my primary interests. I have some studio time but not much). I appreciate that you take the time to make these videos.
Thanks, I can appreciate the old eyes as It is definitely more difficult to use than when I was in my 20’s and 30’s. One thing that has helped was that I updated the focusing screen to the Acumat version (expensive but worth it) I also feel the prism seems to be easier on the eyes. Not super familiar with the 503CW other than is is an excellent more more modern version of the camera that has faster / different shutter I believe. I can def do a walkthrough of my kit 👍
I also lean towards medium and 35 mm most of the time… but love printing from 4x5 negs!
Take care!
Great camera work...from your daughter...!
She did awesome! Thanks!
Beautiful shots! I just acquired a 503 CW myself recently and can fully understand your enthusiasm for that camera now. Just one question: What is your equipment for scanning the b/w negatives? Cheers, Peter
Thanks! they are special cameras... especially compared to how things are made today. Here is my current scanning workflow : ua-cam.com/video/im-Flji5vx4/v-deo.html Cheers!
@@DistinctionPhotoLLC Thanks, I ´ve seen your „scanning“ video meanwhile but decided to follow a different pathway: I was lucky enough to find a Nikon Coolscan 9000 for sale which is as good as new and can only report to be fully blown away by the results (I know this could still be topped by a Hasselblad Flextight - but in the end decided to keep my kidneys … because one of them would still not be enough 😉)
Thank you, very nice shots!
What lens you were using, is it the 80mm?
Where did you get the camera strap from?
I think it’s a 50mm.
Yes, John is correct - 50mm DIstagon F-4 with floating adjustable element. Great lens! Got the strap off Ebay.
The classic portrait filter for people with light color skin is yellow-green
The hassleblad gets all the hype but I’d take the rolleiflex sl66 anyday
Never shot with one myself but would sure love to 👍
I have both and generally have no real preference of one over the other, I have 50mm distagon, 80mm planar and 150mm sonnar for each. I like the lens tilt and close up capabilities of the SL66, the leaf shutter and smaller/lighter package of the hasselblad. Love each equally and even though its hard to justify having both I just love using both of them and could not decide which to sell. It would be like deciding which of my children to sell.. just couldn't do it...
@@stevehunt4660 Thanks Steve. Definitely feel differently about my Hasselblad (and my Linhof). Than my other cameras. Certain cameras are just special!
...difficult to beat the flexibility of the Hasselblad.
@@illitrait the rolleiflex has more flexibility 😂
Where you using an 80 in the vid?
Was all with 50mm Distagon FLE 👍
nice lenses, but very expensive(
Indeed. But compared to some of this quality a bargain…
I hate it when dogowners leave that training device on their dog like its a normal thing to do.
Also If you can't train a golden retriever whithout shit like that better keep your hands off dogs hehe
Sorry to disappoint you 🤷🏻♂️
Also, he is still a puppy and training 👍
Dude, no seatbelt is not cool 🫤
my bad...
didn't even use a harness or belt for his dog lol
