    Wow, great story!! I just passed my GED on August 24th and I'm so excited. I'm waiting on the diploma to be mailed to me next week. Now in Oklahoma u can take each test separately and when u choose. I paid $34 for each test and it was well worth the money. I didn't even go to classes, I just bought the GED book with the CD Rom attached and studied at home for my GED. I was so happy that I passed each test the first time and your right, I feel like I accomplished something that was a goal. I now feel that I need to accomplish something every month that I want to do. Loved your story and God Bless U!!🎊🎉🎈 We graduated...

      I'm so sorry I'm just now seeing this message. Yes we did it and I'm so proud you was able to pass it on the first try.. Why did you have to pay to take the test thought??

      +Skyla Wilson, Thank You, In Oklahoma I guess it's just what they charge for the test here. They allow you to take each test separately and you get a whole year to finish the test. I just enrolled in community college last week.

      Aww thank you. I had too I want to move down south he's a pre teen and I never wanted him to grow up in these NYC streets but my so is 12 and he hates going outside in the summer he goes to a NYPD camp and he has swimming lessons. He wants to do track so now I'm trying to find him a track team he can be apart of so he can prefect his craft. He said he's going to the olympics one day.. He reminds me of one of my older cousins on my dad side so much. Lol

      +FRESHMC2882 it all depends on you. It's good to take it once just to see what it's like just for the hell of it and whatever you don't pass you just have to study. Mind you, I took it in 2012 so the test was different. So easy or difficult all depends on you. But stick with it, be determined like a rock star.

    I just got my GED yesterday. I had to get it fast because I needed to get a specific job. I always did well in school and I just turned 20 so I haven't been out of school for long. I left school when I was a senior, I had three classes left. I didn't have a ride to school and I just couldn't motivate myself to do online. Pretty pitiful, huh? Anyway so I just got it yesterday. As far as studying goes, all I did was the practice tests that give you a status of if you are likely to pass the actual GED test or not. I passed on those and got a lower score on my math on the practice test, so I decided to just brush up a little on some things I had forgot. All in all, with practice tests and studying for math on my own, I spent about 5 hours studying. I did my tests all in the same day. I ate a big meal before I left and was on minimal sleep since I am on a night schedule. By the time I finished my tests, I had been awake for over 16 hours. It wasn't the best situation, I would've wanted to take them at separate times. But I needed it NOW. I really did not prepare much at all. There was definitely some stuff on the test that didn't make sense but honestly as long as you take as much time as possible on every question and reread, it can make a difference. I can't tell you how many questions I had to sit there and think and reread. But if anyone reading this is in a similar situation to mine, then I would recommend taking the practice tests to evaluate where you are currently. Instead of spending extra money and time, when you could just pass in a day or two. A program or studying a booklet really was not an option for me, so just study areas that confused you on your practice tests and take your time on the real thing. Also it is really important to eliminate answers, and read the possible answers before solving the problem so that you can get an idea of what you're looking for. Don't be so scared of the test. All you can do is try, and if you fail, then get help. But don't scare yourself before you've tried. I was really nervous and thought I probably failed at least one part of the test, but it wasn't even close to a fail. So just believe in yourselves!

    Congrats!!! I know it took me 2 tries to pass my GED Test..I got my GED in 2011.Before that, I was going in and out of Pre-GED Classes at the Brooklyn Public Library cause I gave up to easy and I didn't have anything that was pushing me to go further with passing the classes.When I turned 30, that's when I really needed to get it cause I know now why it's important to have a GED or a High School Diploma.It opens alot of doors that you might not ever have if you don't have one.I did my classes at 75 Lewis ave in Bed Stuy and it was a place called New Horizons Adult Learning Center and it was inside this big church and I did night classes.I took my GED test in Sunset Park in this Adult Education Center called Turning Point and the first time I took it, I passed everything except the Math and I felt like shit when I saw that I failed, but I went Ham on studying for the test the 2nd time and Thankfully, when you take classes, you get a testing seat faster.So once I took it that 2nd time, I was confident that I would ace it the 2nd time and I was gonna apply for GED Classes incase I failed the 2nd time, but once they told me that I passed, I got hyped, berzerk and got turnt up lmao!!!.It's awesome that you shared your story cause you never gave up and by you making this, this would give inspiration to other who are trying to get it.
    Congrats

      +Tia Slays Don't be scared honey. You have to know and have the confidence that weather or not you pass it or not you tried but always make sure you try and try until you pass it. If you been out of school for sometime then yes your going to need so classes to study. Rock the test don't let the test rock you hehe

    I’m 16 and I can’t pass the 9th grade. It’s depressing.. I took the 9th grade THREE TIMES NOW and I can’t go for a fourth. I’ve tried online schooling, I’ve tried tutoring and honestly I just want a ged and become a nurse. I want to take a ged but I’m so confused all you do is take a test? And another one and another one then you’re all done and you receive your completion certificate? I’m very committed but Im drowning in unnecessary homework and honestly I’m slowly giving up and that terrifies me. I am SO on my SHIT! I’m on top of everything I’m very responsible. But for some terrible reason I don’t know why I lack in high school. Please someone help me figure this out because I want to fix this before I’m 24 and still struggling..

    • @iamskylastar
      @iamskylastar  7 років тому +1

      +Sabrina xoxo first off love I want to get out your head that you can’t do it because you can. Your 16 years old and they can’t put you out of high school by law until your 21. Now I don’t you don’t want to be that old in high school so the time is now. There’s so much research out here to help you win. You just have to tell yourself you got this. Now you want to be a nurse and I’m not going to sugar coat anything for you nursing school is hard it a lot of reading and learning the body big words and all that so just ask yourself if you can ace a nursing exam why you cant ace a high school exam?? Now going for your ged is the easy way out you will have to take a test in each subject (math, reading, writing, science and social studies) I don’t know what’s the passing grade in your state you can look that up but if you can pass your ged you can pass high school. Don’t think about what no one have to say and try your very best. You got this and don’t give up EVER

      +FRESHMC2882 well I believe they changed the rules now. If you take it and fail it you have to take the whole thing over again. Each time you will get a different booklet for each subject. +Marie Vin I took mine 5 times before I passed it. Back then I was able to take different subjects to pass it now you have to take the whole thing over. The key to it is no matter how many times you have to take NEVER GIVE UP
