Update: My husband just had this for dinner and LOVED it. He said it was perfectly spiced, and I'd agree. Again, the spice was perfect, not over the top. Perfect.
I'm pretty certain this would be my favorite meal if I could taste it! I really want to make this recipe but most of the key ingredients aren't sold in my local grocery stores. Do you know of a good place I could order from? I live in Canada
Just made this, is was soooo good! I've been living in Korea for a month now and really wanted to try tteokbokki, but haven't had the chance yet. I tubed the spice down slightly because I am baby spice, and then it turned out perfect for me, spicy but no tummy ache. I might adjust it up as I become tougher as I live here longer (maybe😂). Thank you for this delicious and veggie filled recipe! 🙏
Oh wow! I just tried this, had to substitute a few veggies according to what I had in the fridge but... it was INCREDIBLE! Best recipe I've tried yet. Such a good flavor
This is amazing. I made it TODAY! Yes! Yum. I love spice and this was spicy but nothing unbearable, just tasty! Way ... to. ... go! I'm still waiting for a cookbook, hint hint.
Loveeee Korean rice cakes! I have the mini ones in the freezer. (I also bought the large freshly made ones but cut them into smaller pieces and froze them for when I needed them. Did you defrost and rinse your mini rice cakes before you put them in the bowl or just frozen right into the bowl? I need to shop for some missing ingredients but I have the gochugaru and gochujang paste! Yay!!!!
this looks so bomb 😍 I’ve been wanting to try tteokbokki so badly! here from the #dontrushchallenge video you all did on Instagram. So inspired by all of you! just subbed 🥰
Unrelated: but what is the best way to get smell of garlic off your fingers? I hate washing my hands with baking soda, toothpaste etc and metal even but the smell lingers!
(I am also Jewish and keep kosher and I am vegan, so I've found lots of ways to find or substitute for non-kosher ingredients in asian recipes when I cannot find them in stores.)
Dear Joanne, hope you are doing great. How is that possible in the US to get a bachelor in English then a PHD in Law, in the Netherlands we can't even enroll a master in law without a bachelor in law.
I've been a vegan for just over a year. I do miss cheese but not much of anything else. I wouldn't have a problem if I could eat meals like this, but Dr. Gregar and many others in the vegan community is against the use of oil and salt. Besides that, this dish with all the oil, plus the pasta and the dumplings and the rice cakes, makes the dish incredibly high in calories, and losing weight and the accompanying reduction in blood pressure and cholesterol level was one if my reasons for going vegan. If I could eat pasta every day, I'd have no problems at all. But, just because it's vegan doesn't make it healthy.
@@alenmm8671 Good remark. I get it. But, if it were a party, I'm good. I can't make this part of my everyday diet and I resent vegan being equated with healthy.
Late, I know, but you should look into the Starch Solution. From the reading I've done, it's helped a lot of people. When I did it briefly, I felt like a different person. This recipe is delicious and you can make it with far less oil or none, just water saute. An indulgent meal every once in a while is nice and helps keep me on track and from feeling deprived. Just keep a balance and make sure the rest of your meals are healthy.

Hi! Check out the description. I’ve included links to a lot of the ingredients. :)
@@TheKoreanVegan Thank you so much! The rice cakes don't ship to Canada but I've found another brand that does :)
I'm in Canada. Do you have an asian grocery store nearby? Most of the ingredients are there.
@@sha8808 Unfortunately no, only tiny asian sections in two of the nearby grocery store :(

Where did you get the ramen noodles from???
Unrelated: but what is the best way to get smell of garlic off your fingers? I hate washing my hands with baking soda, toothpaste etc and metal even but the smell lingers!
I usually just juice some lemons or oranges! the oil and juice help cut the odor.
I really want to make this but I can only eat kosher 😭

The way she bashed the onion got my attention 😳
The limping trunk preclinically slow because cattle perceptually print qua a good server. aromatic, unusual daisy
