The song title reads like a hymn title. The melody sounds like a hymn. The keyboards sound like organs. The song elevates the soul like a hymn. Brilliant.
In the Italian language we use the word "inno (hymn)" also in the meaning of the word "anthem" and that's kinda interesting because the theme of this track is literally a different rendition of the Soviet Anthem, like some other American songs from the last decades (Go west by the Per Shop boys for example). In the album there are other references to the soviet philosophy and terminology.
That’s what I think of every Muse Album after listening to it again... Every one was a favourite one in different times, that’s why I can’t decide 🤷♀️😅🤘😍
Slow dancing in a pool of wreckage as lights rain down from the sky. That's the imagery this song evokes in me. The most beautiful imagery I could ever imagine.
Easily one of Muse's saddest but most beautiful songs ever written. I'm not entirely sure exactly what the composer was going thru, but it's expressed very well and I feel it.
That's the only thing I hate about muse (and r heir my fav band) all writers write songs about their feelings or experiences and Matthew Bellamy has sung some deep shit and it makes me feel that he is on the edge and the only thing keeping him balanced is music.(these r my fav songs however they r some of his deepest and u can tell by the titles) dead inside the dark side psycho darkshines etc and it makes me wonder what is going thru his head when he writes these songs and hope that whatever he is going thru (if anything could be creativity) he deals with it and gets better if u know what I mean
@@elizabeth-jaynecollins2157 matt once said that the meaning of their songs can be whatever we want because himself don't know what he tried to tell. He just write songs to make music because he express himself with guitar piano and by the power of his voice. The lyrics aren't really important for him.
+Rick Sanchez Man I have been at an internal conflict for like 5 months deciding whether I like the Killers or Muse more. I love both. So hard to choose.
It is actually intended to sound like airplane noise :) the track before this is "Collateral Damage", which ends with the sound of an airplane taking off, so that the two tracks sound like they are connected together!
Pure hearts stumble In my hands, they crumble Fragile and stripped to the core I can't hurt you anymore Loved by numbers You're losing life's wonder Touch like strangers; detached I can't feel you anymore The sunshine trapped in our hearts It could rise again But I'm lost, crushed, cold and confused with no guiding light left inside You were my guiding light When comfort and warmth can't be found I still reach for you But I'm lost, crushed, cold and confused with no guiding light left inside You're my guiding light You're my guiding light When there's no guiding light left inside When there's no guiding light in our lives
2:17 you can notice that there's a "Hah!" scream that ends very abruptly. This was taken from the video where Matt reacted to his solo part. Even he himself is surprised. 😂
No matter how much I hear the lyrics I still hear "All we hear now, is radio Gaga, all we hear now, is radio Gaga. Radio is here, someone still loves you."
Big fan since 2003 and I love BHoR as much as most of the Muse Fans do. But personally I really prefer "The Resistance" over "Black Holes and Revelations" Guiding Light is definitely underrated. I think it's one of Muse's strongest ballads of all time.
I have a month to decide what im going to do with my life. I have been looking for my guiding light to figure out what i want to do in the future Tonight i have decided it while listening to this song, and although im not 100% sure, it feels like everything is in its right place now. pure harmonic souls of mystic sound's, ego whiped clean an uprising of the mind to foreign states of bliss, may God touch the minds and souls of all who read this we will be together again one
Génial, The group ! vu en concert en 2006 (bercy) chaque album est différent et en pleine évolution à chaque fois, quant à Matt Bellamy, un musicien génial avec une voix inexplicable !
And the search for the first person on UA-cam to borrow a brain cell and finally understand that the people who need the lyrics are the ones who don't know them and need them to appear on the screen AT LEAST A WHOLE SECOND BEFORE THEY ARE SUNG so they don't sing behind goes on...
@@Phillinator11 Sure, no-one puts lyrics on a music video on UA-cam so people can sing along. My point was the pointless futility of the effort in the work, not the fact I can't find the lyrics in an easier to use way.

Wow - the drum pattern is EXACTLY the same as Ultravox's 'Vienna'....even though the song sounds more like Queen. It takes a genius to create a track that sounds like Queen and Ultravox!
I love the resistance, its the perfect blend for me, its my album, i dont get why people dont like it, it was already that good and they added 3 fucking exogensis' to evelate it- think again musers, absolution and oos is good but this is the best album, its Matt's peak voice he will ever get in his life too

Played 2 month ago at my father’s funeral. Now strong enough to hear this song again. I hope he will still be my guiding light
My condolences.
He is with you. This is confirmation.
his voice is an amazing instrument
Matt is a genius
sth more than that
After listening to all their discography, this is by far my favorite album. I love every song on this album.
Exactly. Every single song of the resistance is a banger
That’s what I think of every Muse Album after listening to it again... Every one was a favourite one in different times, that’s why I can’t decide 🤷♀️😅🤘😍
This song has the most spine tingling guitar solo I've ever heard
its brilliant yes, Matthew can produce some amazing pieces, i like the solo for Citizen Erased the best though.
You should listen to the live version from Rome Olympic stadium, pure goosebumps stuff.
Apparently it is Jeff Buckley's guitar
@@danielleriggs9677 I don't believe that it is, Matt did re-record it on Jeff's guitar recently though and its out now
It's crazy that he can sing and play the guitar both so well. Really talented and hard-working.

Easily forgotten love
The person singing would be Winston in the Ministry of Love (1984)

The British national anthem XD

That solo, I'm in tears
One of their most underrated songs from one of their most underrated albums.
In a day and age where "underrated" is spoken to death, this is the most apt use of the word I have ever seen.
Fantastic as usual
What a band
I don't think I've heard a track of theirs I don't like
BEST BAND IN HISTORY
ESPECIALLY LIVE
Followed very closely behind by The Arctic Monkeys and The Killers.

I understand your struggle. Both are my favourite bands since 2005 but if someone sets my house on fire I'd save my MUSE CDs +Smeeven Spielberg

2:14 Eargasm on the fast lick
Pure hearts stumble
In my hands, they crumble
Fragile and stripped to the core
I can't hurt you anymore
Loved by numbers
You're losing life's wonder
Touch like strangers; detached
I can't feel you anymore
The sunshine trapped in our hearts

When comfort and warmth can't be found I still reach for you

When there's no guiding light in our lives
