I played this to my stepdad the day it was released, he said it was the most beautiful piece of music he'd ever heard. Last year we played it at his funeral. I cried for about half an hour and this was the first time I've heard it since. Damn that was hard!
My "stepdad" or rather, a great friend and my mom's boyfriend for a few years, got cancer just after retirement, and the same year my mom would retire. He died a few weeks ago, a very good and influential person. He got me VIP tickets on several occacions to see live classical music in Oslo, as he could not attend some of them. One of them was with Debussy, it's the most intense listening experience I've ever had. I already liked classical music, but he was almost fanatic about it, and highly critical of pop. I just recalled now this as one song I never got the time to play for him, I think he would be impressed. This song is the only song ever made that I've heard that has given me goosebumps. Not only that, it gives me goosebumps EVERY time, and not only ONE it's SEVERAL! This from a guy who already before 18 (2006) had over 2000 songs hand picked and downloaded individually through KaZaA or similar, cause I only add individual songs to my collection.... This song will stick by me until I'm dead. And I will make sure to share it more wit hthose worthy :)
For me every Muse album is a masterpiece and I cant chose my favourite. Every is diffrent in its kind and I cant compare them- i just listen to them all and love them all

Knowing that this album was based on 1984 by George Orwell and having finished the book yesterday, the tears just come back stronger. This has always been a simply beautiful album, in every sense of the word, and nobody makes music just quite like Muse. It's what makes it so amazing.
I know this song is about humans fucking up the Earth and having to leave, but I also interpret it as those times when you feel nostalgic cause you didn’t appreciate what you had back then, and you want to go back and do things differently this time.
I feel the same way, but you'll eventually realize that you cannot change nor alter your past in any way (other than burning bridges and starting over somewhere else, very far away... which I did). Sometimes it's better to move on, let the past die. I never had happy memories, I never got to be myself, I never experienced teenager love, no first kiss/date/relationship etc.
Exogenesis is pure masterpiece! Why don't they play it thoroughly? Redemption was played only once, Cross-Pollination has never been played! There's no justice in the world and there never was... I always cry while listening to this... And if I hear this live, I'll surely burst into tears, and these will be tears of joy... Matt told in the second part ''Tell us your final wish, we will tell it to the world''. My wish is to hear whole Exogenesis live...
Probably because it takes a massive effort to get orchestras to play it. I think Symphony and Redemption were played as openers, but my god would it be a performance if the whole thing was played through live.
When I have been listening this masterpiece my 4 years old son has come to me, asked to played it again and fell asleep... It was a brilliant moment! I will never forget this one. Thank you so much!

And then I listen to Exogenesis Symphony again and get to part 3 and as soon as Matt starts singing, I start sobbing. And I think that maybe I do have a favorite Muse song after all. But then again... It's impossible to choose.

I had this vision just now of someone being drowned in a pool and fighting with every bit of strength to live but then finally chocking on the water and floating to the top but then someone comes to their rescue and performs CPR on them giving them a second chance at life (this all happened before I even heard the lyrics 😨 which basically solidified the picture in my mind). That’s basically how it felt to me when Jesus saved my life. I was drowning in depression, guilt, sin and shame and He came and save me. I got a chance to start my life over. Life with Him is so so so much better than I could have ever imagined it would be. I’m so full of joy I nearly cried today just thinking about how blessed I am. If you feel like you’re drowning call on Jesus! He will save you if you allow Him to. 💖🙏🏾

This was a piece of music that from the first time I heard it, even though I wasn't yet sure how I felt about it, I knew I would return to periodically for rest of my life.
I honestly can't see why so many people apparently dislike this album. To me, it and BH&R are peak Muse. Both experimental albums, yet still keeping their style and sound in check! And of course, a flare for drama. This whole symphony ALONE is proof of that.
Maybe because some songs of this album are inspired by Queen (with the voice of Matt) like United States Of Eurasia. Also, this was the beginning of the electro sounds effects (Undisclosed Desires, MK Ultra...)
So profound in its predictions- “ It’s our last chance to forget ourselves.” Hopefully not . We should not be wasteful of the current freedoms...... be exceptionally gracious to one another whilst we have this opportunity to remember a tragic but beautiful event in our history. Beautiful noble music such as this seems to surpass all before. Magnificent humans.

Look into Rachmaninov if you like this. This song borrows heavily from at least one of his piano concertos, although I forget which one it was.
