*On Scene* Whitehall Fire, Multi-Alarm Commercial Structure Fire, 6-15-2024

- At approximately 10:05 hours on June 15th, Whitehall Fire and Skenesborough EMS were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire at Champlain Beef just south of the Village of Whitehall. Whitehall Fire Car 48 was first to arrive on scene, confirming a working commercial structure fire with live power wires on the structure. Car 48 soon requested Fort Ann Fire, West Fort Ann Fire, Dresden Fire, and Great Meadows Correctional Facility Fire Brigade to respond manpower and apparatus to the scene. Afterwards, numerous departments from Washington County NY and Rutland County VT were requested to the scene for manpower and water supply. Units were on scene throughout the day on June 15th, extinguishing the large blaze after a multiple hour firefight. Crews faced heavy wind gusts, low manpower, and water supply issues during this blaze.

Hopefully there were no injuries to anyone related to this incident, yeah those wind driven fires are and can be hard to get control of.

that was my first thought at seeing the trees and hearing the wind on camera mic this fiire gonna be a bear to fight then i saw all the tankers and knew it was gonna be bad when they have to set up tanker shuttle and the temporary portable water tanks as the master streams take alot of water! this probably took better part of a day or 2 to fully put out!

Once all the work of Salvation has been done, there will be no more; what will happen is the beginning of the work of punishing those who are evil. You resist, you rebel, and you do things you know are bad. I'm giving you a chance to repent now, but you don't want to. LAFD retired. we wouldda put 20 people on the roof with fire already venting thru it, and still tried to put another 20 inside. then wonder why we hurt or killed someone for something that already was a total loss. you guys did great.

I'm just glad (and hope if it was a work day) that everyone got out ok! my thoughts are with the Owners and employees of Champlain Beef who are now out of a job as its a family business handed down through gererations thats been going since the late 40s ...also the buissness's they supplied too as it will have an obv knock on effect to them as well! I do hope they have enough insurance to cover this and rebuild etc it will take time! I hate it when i see a long standing local family business like this burn down ( seen a few on YT) they dont have the backing etc of a big company such as chain stores, big supermarkets that have fires they are on thier own!

The building was destroyed before they got there, not much exposure to worry about. Really not much of a reason to bring in a lot of resources.

Power lines were brought onto the structure accidentally by a tractor trailer.
