Thanks Annette, I’m excited for this pairing!! I’ve sewn a little more of it and loving how it’s looking so far, although the boiled wool is quite thick to work with in comparison to the jacquard version I made previously xx
Hi Karen, I lost my Brother 4 years ago and made 3 memory bears, one for me and the other two for his children. I used the fabric from sweatshirts and a tee-shirt. I used an iron on interfacing because when you come to stuff the bear it will keep its shape. Because jersey is stretchy the stuffing can easily distort it. I think the blue and orange go well together, they are opposite on the colour wheel which makes them perfect together. Look forward to seeing all your makes as well as the bears. 😊
Thank you so much for the tips, I’ll definitely interface then. That’s great about the colours too! I didn’t know that they were opposites. So sorry for the loss of your brother 🥰 xx
Lovely plans! That’s a lot of jumpsuits…so fun ☺️ I am jealous of your Liberty for an Elodie…love both of those! So many wonderful sewing adventures ahead for you! Keep us posted!
Hi Cyndy! I do like a jumpsuit, although not going to the toilet in them lol! The liberty came with the elodie pattern and I won it. Don’t think I would have been able to afford it otherwise 🤩. Looking forward to sharing my makes xx
The coat your making would look lovely with the dress, great colour match. Love your make nine ideas, as you mentioned lots of jumpsuits & great idea to try & use two fabrics from your stash a month + patterns. I loved your pin cushions & great idea to sell them, I think they would be really popular. So sorry to hear about your brother & making a memory bear or pillow is a lovely idea - the t/shirts should be fine for this, as good quality. Really surprised that the cross stitch advised three strands, unusual as it’s normally one or two strands with all the ones I have made. Thank you Karen great video.❤
Thanks Ali, I’ve been enjoying doing the cross stitch, but yes I thought it was odd they said 3 strands! Looking forward to staying my make 9, I’ll be doing the zadie first. I’m going to make a practice bear and see how I get on. It’ll be nice to make something other than a garment too xx
Love all your make 9 ideas. I’m an avid cross stitcher and I find that if you completely separate each strand of floss first, they don’t get as knotted up. Also the floss has a right way and a wrong way like cotton. If you run your fingers down it, one way will be smoother than the other way. Always stitch with the smooth way in 😊
Hi Karen, I recently made 3 memory bears from two skirts and an apron that was my Mum's using the same pattern you featured on your blog. They are a lovely size bear and a simple sew. One of my Mum's skirts was made from a very light weight fabric with a bit of stretch and I interfaced the fabric prior to cutting it out. This worked well and made the fabric more stable and more opaque. The only other tip I would give is when placing the safety eyes and the nose (if you aren't embroidering them) not to add them directly onto a seam because it will cause a weak point and the seam could unravel. Enjoyed the vlog as always and look forward to seeing your makes. Happy Sewing. -x-
Hi Wendy, aww thank you so much for all of your advice and tips for the memory bears, I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. I will definitely interface the jersey before cutting out in that case and great to know about the placement of the eyes as I probably would like to use safety eyes too. Good to know that the pattern is a nice sew too. I’ll hopefully be sharing one soon, a practice version at least xx
I make a lot of memory bears, I interface all the fabric with a medium weight woven interfacing, I use the Melody bear pattern from Funky Friends Factory. I’m planning a trip to the festival on the Thursday
Thanks so much for the tips Carol, I will definitely interface everything and I will take a look at that pattern. Hope you enjoy the festival. I really enjoyed it last time I went xx
Lovely to see you back Karen. I love your upcoming makes, particularly the Artista dress, it’s amazing. I also love your coat over your ball dress, they go amazingly well together. The memory bear is a great idea and I hope they work out well for you. I’m looking forward to seeing your next tuck dress as I loved your Christmas one❤ Happy sewing😊
Thanks Deirdre, I’m looking forward to getting started with my make 9 and excited to try out the Artista dress, it’s quite a different style of garment isn’t it. Xx
Hi Karen, I think your coat is going to look amazing and your idea of perhaps taking your petticoats with you to put on later is brilliant👌. The memory bears are such a lovely thing to do 🙏💖. Loving your plans for the year and looking forward to seeing how you get on 😁💖😘
Thanks Sally 😃, I’ve been sewing a bit more of my coat today. I’m finding the boiled wool thicker to work with than my previous one so think it’s going to need a lot of pressing and using the clapper! Looking forward to getting started with my make 9 and also a practice version of the memory bear xx
Hi Karen ,happy new year from Ireland 💚, can't wait to see how the coat turns out it's looking beautiful 🤩 ,I make memory bears and cushions ,if it's a jersey or knit fabric ,use a medium weight iron on interfacing to stabilise the fabric and I also sew every seam twice because jersey fabric will blow out when you go to stuff ,I always like to put a love heart on the tummy and something on the back seam to hide it ,or some embroidery , I use a jersey needle and regular guterman thread , you could use the scraps in the stuffing mixed with you stuffing ,cut them up very small ,or make little birds or love hearts to hang up at Xmas time or for other family members , I hope this helps
Thank you so much, this is really helpful 😀, such a good idea to mix the small scraps in with the stuffing too. I’ll definitely take my time with these bears and will interface the fabric first. Xx
Great plans, I have made a few of them. But all great patterns. I'd still like to make a Sirocco jumpsuit. ❤Sorry about your brother and grandma but a memory bear is a great idea.
Karen I made one of your jam jar lid pincushions for myself over Xmas and I added an elastic wrist strap and I just love it what a brilliant idea so Thank you …Robyn…North Queensland Australia 👏💕
The Avenire is an easy flattering make, you’ll love it. I’ve also made the Elodie but it’s too small for me now, maybe I need to make another. Good luck with your make nine xxx
Oh that’s good to hear about the Avenir, thank you! Yes make another elodie if you miss it ☺️. I’m looking forward to getting started with my make 9 xx
Good to see you back, Happy New Year. I’ve made the Zadie and Avenir and love them, just about to make the sirocco. Look forward to seeing all your makes x
Nikki here again…. I started cross-stitching on my first trip to Iceland 49 years ago with my then-new and still-loved husband. I would love to have the heart kit but not sure about the 552….
Hi Nikki, it is you who has won, so congratulations….the number 552 comes up against your name when commenting. So please do contact me with your address and I’ll get it sent off to you. Thanks so much for watching my channel and so glad you found me through Angela 😀 xx
Use the high viz to make mini jaclets for the teddies you make as then it really relates to your brothers style. Yes you must make for yourself and your mum and dad, it’s so precious, to have their son and mum. I have made several and jersey worked out fine, just use the same rules as making a sweat shirt or t shirt. I made some out of polo tops and left the logos on the teddies chest. I have also used shirts and a wool jacket. All very emotional but so worth it. Xxxxxxxx❤
Your beats sound amazing!! Thanks so much for the tips. I’m looking forward to giving the pattern a go and will do a trial run first to make sure I feel confident. A hi-viz jacket sounds perfect too 😃 xx
Thank you for a great video Karen. Some lovely plans. The memory bears are a great idea. I have seen memory cushions made from a patchwork style, which are great too.
Thank you!! I have had a little bit of breakage with my hair which I’m disappointed about, but hopefully it won’t get any worse. I’m enjoying sewing the coat but I’m finding the boiled wool quite thick to work with so think it’s going to need quite a bit of pressing and using my clapper! Xx

Karen, your coat is a perfect match with your dress. It will be perfect for a march wedding.
Thanks Annette, I’m excited for this pairing!! I’ve sewn a little more of it and loving how it’s looking so far, although the boiled wool is quite thick to work with in comparison to the jacquard version I made previously xx

Great idea for the memory bears, how about making a mini hi vis jacket for the bear xx
Perfect idea! Thanks Ellen xx

Thanks so much, I had no idea the floss has a right and wrong side so I’ll be checking that in future. Thanks so much for the tips xx
You could use the fabric of the high vis jacket to make the jacket for the bear It would remind you of the goods for your. Brother
Thank you, I think I will do that 😀 xx

Oh the Zadie jumpsuit looks right up my street. Looking forward to seeing your make nine items all made up! x
Thank you! I’ve heard it’s quite a quick make and fairly easy to do as well. So hopefully that will be the case lol xx
Love all your vlogs Karen x
Thanks so much Elaine 😀❤️ xx
Great plans, I have made a few of them. But all great patterns. I'd still like to make a Sirocco jumpsuit. ❤Sorry about your brother and grandma but a memory bear is a great idea.
Thank you Emma 😊. Good to hear you liked the patterns you made. I’m looking forward to getting started on them xx

Lovely video. Can't wait to see your makes.
Memory bears are great idea. I am sorry about your brother and your grandmother.
Thank you so much Agata! I’m excited to get started with my plans and will try out a practice for the bear first xx
Could you make your bear a high viz jacket from your brothers jacket, especially relevant over his t-shirts xx
Great idea, thank you xx

Thank you Mary, it’s amazing what you can make in memory of someone isn’t it. I just love the idea of making bears 🐻. Xx
Your hair is still looking fab. Glad to have you back. Oh yes the coat looks lovely with that dress. Lovely looking coat. Looks beginner friendly. 🤩🥰
Thank you!! I have had a little bit of breakage with my hair which I’m disappointed about, but hopefully it won’t get any worse. I’m enjoying sewing the coat but I’m finding the boiled wool quite thick to work with so think it’s going to need quite a bit of pressing and using my clapper! Xx
@@sewlittletime good luck with the coat. I don't like working with thick fabric, it is hard work 😂
I made that bear last year. I had to make 5 instead of 2. I will send you a photo of it.
Thanks so much for sharing your photos Grace xx
Why don’t you use the high visibility vest to make a jacket for the two bears. Love all your plans xx
Thanks Anne, great idea, I think that will work well xx
How’s about making a tiny hi viz jacket for each of the bears, reminiscent of your brother 😀
Fab idea, thank you xx
Ooo we are going to the stitch festival. We will be there on the Saturday 🤩🥰
Oh yay!! Will hopefully see you there then 😀 xx
@@sewlittletime that would be brilliant xxx
Hey lovely that t shirt would be fine if you get stuck let me know me know you could make jacket same as tear top x
Thanks Deb! Yeah I think a jacket is the way to go isn’t it. Thanks, I will do, hopefully will go to plan 😀 xx
I had a memory elephant made after my brother died, it has large sides so might be an idea to fit the t-shirt motif on the side
So sorry you’ve lost your brother too. Thank you for the tip, that’s a good idea! Xx
I’ve been enjoying your channel for months now and learned about you from Angela at Devon Thread Tales.

Yes it’s you Nikki 😀🧵 xx
Hi Karen, I know you have mentioned this previously, but what pattern did you use for the neck warmer you are wearing please
Hi Mary, it’s the infinity scarf from apple green cottage. Here’s the link to the tutorial xx

That's great, thank you so much Karen Xx
