Everyone needs a break, and it's so nice to have you back! Your Pietra pants are great! If you're interested, Teresa from Lost My Thread did a series this summer comparing 3 shorts patterns, including the Pietra. She did a great job with it, and spoiler alert! She liked the Pietra best. Between you and her, I may just have to make them for myself!
Welcome back. Glad your summer was lovely. The shawl as a scarf is brilliant. I have a shawl that I will try as a scarf. Thank you for the idea. All of your makes are lovely.
I have brought a crochet book along with me on holiday and if I can do a granny square by the time I get home, I’ll be really pleased. I’m not expecting too much though but it would be nice. I’m impressed with your work and progress
Good to see you back Cath. Glad your family enjoyed Crete and Wales. We went to Wales many years ago and the landscape is very pretty. Planning to go to Athens with my daughter in a couple of months. Love that bright red fabric on you. xx Karen
You might like the sewoverit Carrie trousers they are simpler and narrow legged with elastic back. I’m not a fan of SOI but really like these trousers but remember I had to lengthen them. The free range slacks by SH7 are a favourite, they are panelled but easier and have very roomy pockets . Elastic all round but very nice and nice finish on the seams
Thank you very much for the pattern recommendations, I will check them both out. I think I recall seeing the Carrie trousers but I haven’t tried them. I do love an elasticated back for comfort! Or elastic all round too 😊👌
The Pietra pants are lovely - I have the pattern but haven't been brave enough to open the packet yet thank you for the tips you are an amazing seamstress I think I would like to do longer legs and the taper leg version
Thank you very much 😊 I hope you enjoy sewing the pattern when you give it a go. I was a bit worried about getting the fit right. I really enjoyed sewing them up though, the instructions are really good 😊
i really have a hard time choosing prints for projects., i can only imagine them in a plain colour like the closet core pattern envelope, but your pietra -! wow!! i wish i had your eye for prints and knows what would look good or not. BTW welcome back!
I have been thinking of making the Pietra pants for ages and you have definitely inspired me to do it! And I could make the lovely shorts next summer too. The combination of the LB with the pants would work so well! Great video as usual, Cath, lovely to see you back!
Love these makes all varied. Lovely job on the pants! The black sweater can go with so many looks. And that crochet shawl is perfect for a scarf for winter. Yes you must make those pants again
Love your Pietra pants, I found they were a bit bulky at the back, Closet Core do a tutorial for adding a zip which I think I’ll try that next time good to see you back
Good to see you back Cath. I think you look lovely in your red dress and the blouse too. Your shawl looked amazing on you also. You certainly suit the vibrant colours! I am in awe of your crochet skills, it is just something that I cant seem to get my head around. Go you! Looking forward to your next creations.
Welcome back! I love the crochet project in that beautiful blue color, it makes a great scarf for winter. The other makes are also very nice. Good job jumping out of your comfort zone, that is not easy.
Thank you very much. I really like the blue colour of the crochet shawl, I was happy when the yarn arrived the post. I’m looking forward to wearing it this winter!
Those pietra pants turned out beautifully. I bought the pattern a while ago becuase so many youtubers seem to love them and have made such nice pants from the pattern. Its finally time for me to make my own. This is the first time I think ive seen them made in a patterned fabric and I LOVE it.
So lovely to see you back Cath and hear that you’ve had a really lovely summer break with your family. The red fabric has lent itself well to the very pretty dress and now top. It’s one of the colours which really suit you I think. What a shawl 👏😄 A great success, you must be really chuffed with it. The Pietras are also a lovely make the style really suits you and that fabric looks great. 😊x
Thanks so much Shelly. I am really happy with how the shawl turned out, I wasn’t sure when I started if it would come together ok but I’m glad it did! Thanks I really enjoyed sewing the Pietra pants, I’m glad to have tried the pattern, I really like the fabric too 😊 x
Hi Cath, great to see you back and to hear you had a lovely break with your family. Love the crocheted shawl/scarf and the colour. Have a good weekend/week 🥰
I love seeing your LB/Jarrah comparison! I've been wanting to get the LB pattern but keep talking myself out of it telling myself the Jarrah can make something close enough...but I keep wanting to try it! Thanks for sharing!
So lovely to catch up with you on here,I am glad that you took time out to enjoy time with your family.I love your Avid Seamstress blouse,l keep meaning to sew this pattern but have read comments about the narrow sleeve fit. Your Pietra pants look superb and what a good fabric choice for Summer or Autumn. I enjoy your makes videos as you always do a good pattern review and although I don’t knit or crochet I enjoy seeing what you make, especially the toys.Thank you Cath you are always a joy to watch.❤
Thank you so much 😊❤️ The sleeve and armhole on the Avid Seamstress does have a narrow fit, i think now I’m a bit more confident with altering patterns (than I was when I made my versions) that I might adjust in that area next time I make. Thanks I really enjoyed sewing the Pietra pants!
Hi. I like the pants. Maybe you can try a stable knit or a ponte if they need to be warmer. I love the shawl. You can wear around your shoulders for the red dress or an evening dress. It kind of finishes the look. Good luck with your future plans.
Lovely to see you back again. Funny that the Pietra pants have been highlighted by a few Vloggers lately. I have been humming and hawing about them for a few years. Between you and Theresa from Lost my Thread, I am convinced to give them a go. I think a thin needle cord would work for winter, and the version would depend on whether you want to tuck them into wellies or wear loafers or ballet flats with them. Extending the tapered leg down a bit to cover your socks in a winter weight fabric should be fine especially if you want to pair them with a loose fit pullover like your black boxy turtleneck. I think a cotton sateen with a bit of stretch would be wonderful too now that I've seen your pretty print version. I wonder what they'd be like in a brocade using the side zip recommendation to reduce the gathers at the back so they aren't too bulky.
Thank you very much, it’s good to be back 😊 I hope you enjoy the Pietra pants. I found them to be a very enjoyable sew. A thin needle cord for winter sounds like a great plan, that would be cosy and give a lovely texture to them. Thanks for your thoughts on the length and shoe options too, much appreciated! A zip to reduce bulk of gathers sounds like a really great idea too!
I had to grade in at the waist for the trousers as well. Your makes are great
Thank you very much 😊 That’s interesting to know you found the same for the Pietra pants

Welcome back. Glad your summer was lovely. The shawl as a scarf is brilliant. I have a shawl that I will try as a scarf. Thank you for the idea. All of your makes are lovely.
Thank you very much 😊 I’m glad you like the shawl as scarf idea!
You are a beautiful quality seamstress. Your choice of material and your styles are very nice.
Thank you! 😊
I have brought a crochet book along with me on holiday and if I can do a granny square by the time I get home, I’ll be really pleased. I’m not expecting too much though but it would be nice. I’m impressed with your work and progress
I hope you have a lovely holiday and your granny square practice goes well. That’s how I started too 😊
Good to see you back Cath. Glad your family enjoyed Crete and Wales. We went to Wales many years ago and the landscape is very pretty. Planning to go to Athens with my daughter in a couple of months. Love that bright red fabric on you. xx Karen

So happy to have you back on Saturday morning and pleased you had a lovely summer with your family.
Love the red fabric and the design of the top.
Thank you so much 😊

Your Petra’s look Amazing. You are very patient. I watched sequin girlie creates and she had a really bad time trying to alter to fit her.
Thank you very much! I think I was lucky with the overall fit of the Pietras. Trousers can be so tricky to get to fit!
Nice to see you back! Love the black sweater on you. I’m actually just finishing my first Sabina skirt, I was inspired by you to try it
Thank you very much! I hope you’ve enjoyed sewing the Sabina skirt too! I’ve got so much wear out of my versions, I love them 😊

Thank you very much. The Pietra pants were a lot of fun to sew, I’d definitely enjoy revisiting them
Love your Pietra pants, I found they were a bit bulky at the back, Closet Core do a tutorial for adding a zip which I think I’ll try that next time good to see you back
Thank you very much. Oh fab I didn’t know Closet Core has a tutorial for adding a side zip, that’s really good to know thank you!
Thank you very much!
It took me quite a while to get my head around crochet. I’m still surprised that I can actually do it now 😄
@LizMillard I was the same as you regarding crochet, until I found Bella Coco on UA-cam, she is brilliant, highly recommend her 🥰
@nickymercer4398 I also found Bella Coco brilliant for getting started! 😊👌
I saw these pants on instagram and thought they looked beautiful (not realizing all the work you had to do to make them fit right).
Ahh thank you so much 😊
I have made the pietra trousers a lot, I make size smaller back for the back than front, they fit perfectly ❤
I’m glad to have finally tried the Pietra! I’m looking forward to tweaking the fit to get it right ❤️
Welcome back! I love the crochet project in that beautiful blue color, it makes a great scarf for winter. The other makes are also very nice. Good job jumping out of your comfort zone, that is not easy.

Hi Nicky, thank you very much 😊❤️ Hope you have a good weekend & week too!
I think U need more! They would be the perfect winter accessory. can dress them up too, methinks. Ciao
Thank you! 😊
I love seeing your LB/Jarrah comparison! I've been wanting to get the LB pattern but keep talking myself out of it telling myself the Jarrah can make something close enough...but I keep wanting to try it! Thanks for sharing!
I’m so glad you found the comparison helpful! 😊
You could make gloves out of your leftover wool to match shawl
That’s a great idea thank you!

I wonder if a needlepoint corduroy would work for the pietra pants? Or whether that would get too thick for the gathering at the back...
I wonder too. I’ll have to have a look on Instagram and see if anyone has. They would look lovely in a needlecord
xXX👍👍👍
😊xxx
