Lucky hit is amazing! I stack different lucky hit effects. Each has a separate chance to proc (you can trigger 2 or 3 on the same hit). thank you for this amazing video, im now lvl 84 sorc, but i going for max lucky hit chance and use avalange ( with affix for 1 additional free cast). so i get almost infite mana even at boss fights and the 40% dmg boost is insane. also i dont need much stats for getting back mana on items so i can use it to boost damage even more
I’m using this build at level 53 and it’s fun but the sustain can be annoying. I have to build around mana management at the expense of damage. Still gets the job done as I explore nightmare.
Improve Lucky hit and use that item ability that makes your shards hit 3 times. Also with the ring of the mother+ the item ability that transmits freeze to enemies that aren't frozen yet, you can shoot like 15 times without depleting.
I played arc lash from 1-63 as soon as I switched to ice shards I felt actually like I could play the game again. Arc lash fell off around 50 so it was a hella grind to 63. Now I can run dungeons 20 levels higher than me if I wanted easy.
Is the ice shards build good enough without all the specific gear shown in the video? I'm at 56 on arc lash still and I don't have a ton of trouble but I definitely dont feel powerful
I'm killing everything in seconds with the arc lash build. Your gear has to support your build, or it will be a struggle. Ice shards look cool, but I'm sticking with arc lash for now. Great video through!
@@brettberry9846 ive been running a similar build to in the video (im lvl 59) and ive gotten fairly lucky i think with substats and such but it definitely works, the main thing is working around not having the chest piece with the teleport stun which definitely is not a must
I have a similar build at level 60 now, trying to solve the mana problem. I tried to go with killing burning enemies increases mana regen by 10-30% , I still run into mana issues so finding good gear is essential. I also switched to the ice shards that turns an enemy into a vulnerable one . When barriers drop I feel really squishy atm.
I solve mana problem by use aspect +1 avalance key and increase lucky hit chance then u can free cast ice shard 2 times almost times. And combo with Unique frostburn glove u can get some of mana when u cast spell. Enjoy
Im only level 53 and tried to follow similar build to this but encountered mana issies so to solve this i took the frost ice bolt with glinting frost bolt for mana and then i also took blizzard with wizards blizzard for more mana management, my build still does insane dmg (not as much as this build as this in the video) but has more mana management for me. Once I have gotten higher level and better gears then I will switch to this build in the video but I found that slightly adjusting it for more early game/mid game was more helpful to me.
I've been trying ice shards from about L36-50 so far. Same mana issues for me and many others from comments I'm seeing, but I guess stat boosts and end game helps a lot for the streamers at L70+ who found the right gear. I also added frost bolt for the mana and added hydra. I usually run around and manually pull large mobs and mow them down since the large mobs make it much easier to keep mana up. Also to help with mana, I've been prioritizing items with low attack speed and higher dmg per hit like 2H staff, gloves with CC/CD instead of AS etc. Thankfully that rare elite in Fractured Peaks is farmable for the 2H staff.
Good video bro! Only suggestion I would say/ask for is you start putting time stamps in your videos. That has help a lot of people grow a lot more as it’s much more specific and makes things easily accessible! Keep up the grind!
Been playing this build since launch :D I would recommend grabbing a 2nd cast of frost nova imprint, its really helpful in survivability and upping clear speeds. Also find atleast +3 Devouring Blaze on your amulet increasing crit dmg by 150%! Im seeing 100-200k crits from individual ice shards. I dropped all glass cannon besides the unique chest bonus but thats up to you. I felt much tankier after. At some point I have to say I have enough damage lol, alot from added devouring blaze
@@TheCapi246 I would say it's better for leveling and dungeon clear speeds since your first ice shard cast will always ricochet. But not single target dmg. They're both so close though
Your vid helped me. I don't have your exact build but it's close enough. I'm learning alot about the game. It's a real grind but so much fun. Best investment I've made in years. Thks.
I play ice shard sorceror, level 52 right now, cleared a nightmare dungeon level 9 with no problem. Lvl 10 next. I use a wand and focus, been doing better then with a staff but who knows later on. If you manage your mana right and take advantage of certain mecanics, nothing can resist you.
Rainment of the infinite was pretty rare for me, I've finally gotten 1 copy while farming up 20-25 other uniques beforehand. Thankfully it was ancestral, but I'd farmed a few dozen hell rift chest boxes with no luck.
same been grinding T4 for over a week now and at least 50 hours. Up to lvl 81 now and still havent found it. gotten two unique chest pieces and both times its been the thrones one.
once u get enough mana regen/mana cost reduction/resource generation/lucky hit-mana, you can possibly switch to Esu's Ferocity, and use the Aspect that gives you 30-50% attack speed(up to 100% on 2h). i havent accomplished that yet, but i think its possible
@@wilmaso if you have enough MCR, RG, and lucky hit mana, you can put the Esu'a Ferocity aspect on your amulet or 2h wep, and it can give +100% attack speed, but you better have amazing mana reduction and return to feed it.
Was running a slightly different build with no fire then switched to this build to try it and see if it was better. My last build kept me alive better and had better mana regen (almost never had to run around and wait for mana to regen). I hope this build works for you guys but I can't use this build anymore. Yea I have more barriers but I can't keep up the mana regen yet or the cooldown reduction for frost nova so I'm stuck running around waiting for mana. I'll be switching back to my old build. It's a little less damage but much more fluid for me.
Ngl I was getting legendaries and I used the generic ice shard and I was melting everything. I didn’t know I had all the suggested legendaries effects on the legendaries I got that day
I'm lvl 28 and successfully integrated this build thanks to your website. It will get brutally harder if you (like me) forget the enchantments... ;) The mana regen is at this level still a pain in the ass but it is unreal how many deaths I was able to avoid with that flame shield. Really loved this video and the build that you created. Keep that good work up!
Not the Stun of the unique chest activates the "Devouring Blaze", its the Meteor impact (skilled down) that is activating the double amount of immobilized. And not skilling 25 % mana generation everytime of Frost Shield is like... And gettint the chest at level 72 is extremly lucky. I get it at level 90, its pretty rare.
Dude you're awesome keep up the great work love watching your videos honestly the best ones I've watched very information and the website is a plus for sure
Best way to tell if a build is the best is do higher tier nm. I noticed enemies are your level. I'm using maxrolls ice shards build at lvl 87 killing level 98 mobs with ease. Great build as long as you're not running out of mana constantly
My gripe with this build is the encountering of 2-3 mobs especially on "slay all enemies on x" floors or helltides. I cast 3 ice shards snd wait 3 seconds and cast another one like 5 times until they die. Might be things missing in my build but still. Didnt have that problem with for instance arc lash. In big packs this rocks more than anything.
As someone who runs a build around ice shards just like this one, I understand your pain. You have to do a bit of kiting of enemies. This unfortunately means you can get in bad situations if you aren't careful because of how hard late game enemies hit. However you should be fine if you lead those groups of 2-3 enemies to a larger group.
blizzard, glacial aspect, unique pants with the chance for enemies that die while frozen to frost nova == dead stuff very fast. But shhhhh, all this talk is gonna get us nerfed.
the thing ive found with higher nightmare dungeons is not so much damage, trust me theres enough damage in this build, but survivability is abysmal, you'll be dying to white mobs at tier 60+ and it just doesn't work. I think you're a little confused on stun and immobilize. Stunning and immobilized are different buckets. this build should either get meteor or inferno because they provide immobilize, not teleport. So deep freeze is more used as a oh shit button in higher dungeons, getting meteor inferno or inferno will proc that immobilize which will increase our damage. If you're going to use a 2hander you should be using the aspect that increases crowd control duration, with this you can stagger a boss super fast which is what we aim to do.
Frozen and Stunned are NOT Immobilized and therefore not getting you that extra 75% crit damage. Also, At the top of the tree you don't put a point in Enhanced Firebolt since that literally does nothing...you put the 2nd point in Firebolt which increases its power as an enchantment.
@@walterd7331 If you take the passive he showed you'll still get 30% crit damage to burning, and everything will be burning, so it's still good. But you're not getting the 75% unless enemies are actually Immobilized (frozen, stunned, etc don't count). You can also get damage to burning on gear and damage to burning with one of the paragon glyphs. If you're mid to late game you shouldn't be actually using Firebolt (or any basic), just like he has on the video. You only have points in it for the enchantment. 2 points in Firebolt makes the enchantment (SLIGHTLY) stronger, whereas the 1 point in Enhanced Firebolt does literal nothing because you're not actually using the skill.
Im not even a diablo vet and im playing an ice sorc and loving it. I did the tier 3 capstone at 65 and tbh probably could had done it earlier. Feels pretty strong as a build.
I'm not having much fun with this build like I want. Mostly because of the mana sustain. Sometimes it feels great when mana isn't a problem, but at times when battles get hectic I run out of mana quickly and I gotta run away. I'm gonna keep working on it though, maybe I'm not using my skills correctly.
I run same build. When u guys hit lvl 80 or so i recomand focusing on defences... Hp in every item that u can roll hp, dmg reduction in amulet etc... Couse we have tons of dmg but when nova or teleport fail to cc and this is common thing in higher dungeons we can insta die.
@@fabia3992 There is an elixir that increases your primary resource by 50, thus gaining 50 mana. With 150 basic mana(gear not included) you will almost always get the bonus from the weapon aspect he talks about in the video.
If you're gonna spend 2 points in firebolt and the followup, for the tiny inkling of improvement, i'd say just put 2 points on the skill itself to make the burn a hair stronger. Ofc 99% of your damage is not burn, but damage is damage imo.
I switched to this build and I am absolutely loving it! I don't even have the unique chest yet and I can still light up mobs super easily. Question about equipment: Since the amulet aspect gets 50% inc. effect, I feel like that slot is super important. I currently have max roll inc. damage with barrier active on it. But I'm thinking maybe the critical strike chance above 100 mana might be better, or maybe the armor one as you do. My armor increase % is on my pants and the critical strike chance is on my gloves. Should I switch the amulet to have one of those other two instead? Thanks!
Hands down the best build video on youtube…Thank you so much for this. The breakdown you give and the information as to why is just great. Thank you sir
Should put the ice shards aspect on your staff while you are using it and then to the amulet to increase the number of shards that pierce enemies. The staff would go up to 9. More shards equal more lucky hit procs which of course mean more mana!
I would say it's a waste of a "100% increase" 3-4 target is far enough, I would highly suggest putting aspect of control "You deal 50%-70% more damage to Immobilized, Stunned, or Frozen enemies. When you stagger a boss it does x3 so 150% to 210%, melt boss quicker than elite pact and 70% to frozen is still really good for elite.
Thanks for watching! Sub for More D4!

thank you for this amazing video, im now lvl 84 sorc, but i going for max lucky hit chance and use avalange ( with affix for 1 additional free cast). so i get almost infite mana even at boss fights and the 40% dmg boost is insane. also i dont need much stats for getting back mana on items so i can use it to boost damage even more
I’m using this build at level 53 and it’s fun but the sustain can be annoying. I have to build around mana management at the expense of damage. Still gets the job done as I explore nightmare.
As a fellow 53 Sorc I can say that getting mana to keep generating is a pain in the butt
@@brettberry9846Im waiting on this exact same answer, though Im sure the gear is needed for the build to work so, Im not getting my hopes up!
I'm killing everything in seconds with the arc lash build. Your gear has to support your build, or it will be a struggle. Ice shards look cool, but I'm sticking with arc lash for now. Great video through!
Oh, I'm lvl 56 as well. I'm cruising through T3 so far. I love having more than one viable and fun build for my class. It keeps things interesting.
@@brettberry9846 ive been running a similar build to in the video (im lvl 59) and ive gotten fairly lucky i think with substats and such but it definitely works, the main thing is working around not having the chest piece with the teleport stun which definitely is not a must
Ive been running this build ever since my buddy sent me your video, end game for sure. Just beat the game with it
What a life changer. The QOL is so much nicer! Thank you! Also the website is super easy to follow.
Use cc enemys gives primary resource aspect
Do you think this version is better than the vulnerability point on ice shards?
@@TheCapi246 I would say it's better for leveling and dungeon clear speeds since your first ice shard cast will always ricochet. But not single target dmg. They're both so close though
I might be late to the party but thank you so much ❤ this is very helpful and informative great build and nice video, keep the good work
Your vid helped me. I don't have your exact build but it's close enough. I'm learning alot about the game. It's a real grind but so much fun. Best investment I've made in years. Thks.
oh, glad too see you in Diablo Lucky (coming fromeso). Looking forwards too more vid
Nice vid bro. The only thing I didn’t grasp was how to (like you said) enchant to put enemies on fire to make the passive (devouring blaze) active.
subscribed bro, honestly your descriptive in everything top tier video!
You have helped me greatly and understanding where to Put the points and making an easy to read, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks brotha.. im pretty new to diablo.. i'm overwhelmed!!! lol this is a great video- im currently level 23 just trying to freeze some packs!!
I cannot believe what I am seeing it with my eyes! LOOL TY SO MUCH!
Very impressive guide with superior explanation on why and how to do it (aka perform). Thank you, I subscribed!
once u get enough mana regen/mana cost reduction/resource generation/lucky hit-mana, you can possibly switch to Esu's Ferocity, and use the Aspect that gives you 30-50% attack speed(up to 100% on 2h). i havent accomplished that yet, but i think its possible
Why, is that aspect good??.
@@wilmaso if you have enough MCR, RG, and lucky hit mana, you can put the Esu'a Ferocity aspect on your amulet or 2h wep, and it can give +100% attack speed, but you better have amazing mana reduction and return to feed it.
Earned a follower. Your Website description is brilliant. Well done man
Was running a slightly different build with no fire then switched to this build to try it and see if it was better.
Thanks mate, your guide does a level by level which makes the game more enjoyable. Top work!
Glad to hear it!
Ngl I was getting legendaries and I used the generic ice shard and I was melting everything. I didn’t know I had all the suggested legendaries effects on the legendaries I got that day
Amulet of piercing cold was a game changer
I have been farming that chest for days so it is quite unique
Where do you farm for this chest
You should just turn that fire bolt into rank 2 just for the increase in burn dmg for the min/max😁😁!!
yo!! good idea!
I finally got my amulet to take this build to the next level. Accidentally scrapped pants with 3 lucky chance and mana regen yesterday, i was sick.
Only thing I do differently is take out the ulti and add meteor for the immobilize. It’s a lot of fun to cast meteor and then pull everything into it
Also this the first video of yours I watched and I'm definitely subscribing
I'm lvl 28 and successfully integrated this build thanks to your website. It will get brutally harder if you (like me) forget the enchantments... ;)
The mana regen is at this level still a pain in the ass but it is unreal how many deaths I was able to avoid with that flame shield.
I get it at level 90, its pretty rare.
i got it at lvl 60 haha
@@hooohooop me too lol
Dude you're awesome keep up the great work love watching your videos honestly the best ones I've watched very information and the website is a plus for sure
Awesome guide. What wand and off hand would you use? Best boots?
Best way to tell if a build is the best is do higher tier nm. I noticed enemies are your level. I'm using maxrolls ice shards build at lvl 87 killing level 98 mobs with ease. Great build as long as you're not running out of mana constantly
awesome video, guide, and build!!!! You've got my sub!
Great video. Everything explained, 10 out of 10
How do I make ice shards burn ?
Great job with the vid. I also like the work you did for the build link.
the thing ive found with higher nightmare dungeons is not so much damage, trust me theres enough damage in this build, but survivability is abysmal, you'll be dying to white mobs at tier 60+ and it just doesn't work.
This is my first, and only, build ... its really good❤
“Maybe a day or two” I spent a week and a half farming for that chest piece 😭🤣
Could someone give me a hand, how do you get the ice shards and well any ice ability to also do the burn damage?
Frozen and Stunned are NOT Immobilized and therefore not getting you that extra 75% crit damage.
Also, At the top of the tree you don't put a point in Enhanced Firebolt since that literally does nothing...you put the 2nd point in Firebolt which increases its power as an enchantment.
So burning enemies only gets the mild bonus for the passive? Also, does skipping the enhanced firebolt for the 2nd point make a noticeable difference?
Been farming that chest piece for a week now
Im not even a diablo vet and im playing an ice sorc and loving it. I did the tier 3 capstone at 65 and tbh probably could had done it earlier. Feels pretty strong as a build.
65 is pretty late
Lol, I did T4 capatone at 58 😂
@@FunkieChicken what build are you using?
@@legendofnat5477 ice shards build on sorc
@@FunkieChicken ahh i see, are you using any uniques or only legendaries?
I'm not having much fun with this build like I want. Mostly because of the mana sustain. Sometimes it feels great when mana isn't a problem, but at times when battles get hectic I run out of mana quickly and I gotta run away. I'm gonna keep working on it though, maybe I'm not using my skills correctly.
found the armor and pants on the same day at lvl 73.
currently running this build but i have staff with 8 pierce shard and 2 frost novas!
Nice I been running this and looking at different for minor tweaks
I run same build. When u guys hit lvl 80 or so i recomand focusing on defences... Hp in every item that u can roll hp, dmg reduction in amulet etc... Couse we have tons of dmg but when nova or teleport fail to cc and this is common thing in higher dungeons we can insta die.
Awesome guide and write up!!
There is also the potion that increases your mana pool from 100 to 150, which makes the aspect on your wep synergize insanely well.
Can you explain that?
@@fabia3992 There is an elixir that increases your primary resource by 50, thus gaining 50 mana. With 150 basic mana(gear not included) you will almost always get the bonus from the weapon aspect he talks about in the video.
@@chickncz what's the name of the elixir?

Great info! Love the website as well!!
Like your video! Good explain and to the point.
Ur guide is also so Great!
Big shot out for ur work & time!
If you're gonna spend 2 points in firebolt and the followup, for the tiny inkling of improvement, i'd say just put 2 points on the skill itself to make the burn a hair stronger. Ofc 99% of your damage is not burn, but damage is damage imo.
Great build. Trying this on my next character.
love your guides, looking forward to the other classes.
More to come!
Master at Work. Thanks Ghost!
This is a very good build!! I'm new yet so haven't had the chance to complete it I'm in the starting stages
More shards equal more lucky hit procs which of course mean more mana!
you cant use 2 of the same aspect. they dont stack and one will dsiable the other
2h weapon doubles the effects
Same goes with amulets
But now I see where op went wrong :(
I would say it's a waste of a "100% increase" 3-4 target is far enough, I would highly suggest putting aspect of control "You deal 50%-70% more damage to Immobilized, Stunned, or Frozen enemies.
When you stagger a boss it does x3 so 150% to 210%, melt boss quicker than elite pact and 70% to frozen is still really good for elite.
Is this good in end game as well? Or mainly before nightmare levels
