This video has definitely widen my vision on PR careers because the possibilities are endless! Hi, I'm currently studying PR course at UTAR, Malaysia. I choose to study this field because there are so many job opportunities within public relations that span from nonprofit organizations to PR firms to high-powered businesses. Also, I quite favor in a fast-paced, exciting environment and as a PR, I will able to face the different challenge every day and therefore gain more experience on that.

Omg! This is so incredible! I'm also from Germany and I also want to study communications in scotland (what are the chances I'd find your channel 😂)! Don't know if you will even read this comment but was it hard to get into your course at uni? Especially as a foreigner? Did you have an extraordinarily good abitur? I'm sort of afraid I might not be able to get a place in scotland since there are really only two unis that have pr/communications courses 😒 (maybe I'm wrong... 😅). Would be great if you could give me some usefull insight.
OMG HIIIIII honestly I get so excited when I read comments like yours bc that's exactly why I do my vids 💜💜
1. For me the hard part was the English test bc you need a C1 language qualification. I did the Cambridge Advanced Certificate and honestly thought it was quite hard. 😳
2. I had a 1,5 abitur but I think you only needed 2,5 - so no worries! :)
3. YES there is only my Uni (RGU) and I think one in Glasgow if I am correct 👀😀Just warning you tho: the communication courses are very chill here (too chill for my taste but oh well). We are rarely at uni and it's a lot of self studying. It's PERFECT if you are like me and do a biz on your side OR work part-time bc you have much free time 👩🏽🎓💕✨ Just be aware of that! There are other things I am not 100% happy when it comes to my course but I always voice my recommendations so future students like you will have it better! 💚

@@LauraLangheinrich Danke für die hilfreiche Antwort! Hatte erst bedenken weil ich so wie es momentan aussieht wahrsch. nur ein 1.8 er evt. 1.7 abi schaffe. Grade als ich die Mindestanfordungen von zum Beispiel Edinburgh gelesen hatte (zugegebenermaßen eine ziemlich gute uni) war ich doch sehr verunsichert. Werde mich aber auch noch für nen paar Marketingkurse bewerben, da mich dass auch noch interessieren würde und es da einfach mehr kurse gibt. Bist du zufrieden mit deiner Uni? Grade auch weil du meintest der Kurs wäre etwas zu unanspruchsvoll. Englischanforderungen sollten aber kein Problem (zumindest schreiben und sprechen) sein weil meine Mutter aus Gb kommt und ich mit Englisch mehr oder weniger aufgewachsen bin.
RGU is an amazing university... my course could be improved tho 😜

M doing Diploma in public relations with university of south Africa and as my first time I struggled with assignments lots of information and is so confusing however m enjoying the experience

thank you for sharing, but how do you compare pr with advertising? i need to choose from this two but basically i have no idea whether it's traditional advertisng as you mentioned in video or what. could you please compare in general maybe?
YES! So simply: PR is a more holistic approach to creating an image/identity of a company. there are lots of tools to PR including press/media, events, fundraisers, social media, AND advertising is one of the tools! 🧡studying PR also involves being generally great with communication, crisis management and also internal communication of big companies f.e. team events, internal newsletter etc. ✨ you help a company create and communicate a great external and internal image 🌈
Advertising is more specific. It involves all the paid marketing tools like social media ads, tv ads, newspaper ads etc. 💖it's obviously helps to create the image of a company but it is a lot more focussed on the creative aspect of marketing. so actually coming up with the slogans, materials, texts and so on! 💜
I'd choose PR for a more holistic course with many directions to go into and advertising if you know you defo wanna work in marketing and create big ad campaigns 💛

Do you think it is possible to get a PR/marketing masters after having completed a bachelors or a masters in biotechnology? think I would love to combine the two of them while keeping my options open and I think this combination would be useful in companies in the biology field. Or to get a masters in PR you should have a more marketing/economy focused bachelor?

Hi Laura, I have a question; wondering if you could advise me.
I’m interested in pr and communication but writing is not my strongest skill and have checked on various vacancies for this industry with both vacancies applications stating that the ideal candidate should have excellent writting. Marketing is not an option for me as it doesn’t interest me.
Is their a job that doesn’t put emphasis on writing

Writing is a skill you learn by doing it :) I also never thought I was good at writing but I become good by doing it every day
I apply for public relation course at Humber I got mail that before giving offer letter they will conduct interview do u know what will it includes
I don't know exactly what the interview will include, however, I'd recommend you to look up PR job interview questions online! 😎They'll maybe be similar and sites like glassdoor offer some good insights 👀Good luck Amit! 💖

To change my faculty i need to do a test on date 14... from what i know everyone has to take a test to get through the communication course ... do you have like any idea on what questions i should be prepared on... do i have to just prepare informations relating public relation or do i have to be mentally prepared for speaking like in ielts

YES I do 😊maybe a writing-focussed journalism course would also be of interest to you... because there is a lot more to PR than writing such as crisis management, brand building, influencer marketing etc. 💖Also, when you want to work in PR you'll do a lot of networking and working with people - so it's defo not just sitting behind a laptop writing. If that sounds like you'd like it, PR is defo a choice to consider 😊

Is PR and Journalism nearly one thing?
It defo has a lot in common! However, Journalism is more about writing, news reporting and documenting whereas PR is more about taking the content from journalism and using it to create a brand identity! Articles, Press + the media are a tool PR uses. Journalists and PR work very closely together, as PR pitches a lot to the media hoping to get featured in newspapers, magazines etc. to get exposure for their client! 💖Does that make sense?? 😎My best friend Jana Zlunkova (she also has a UA-cam channel) studies journalism, maybe you can reach out to her! ❤️

not necessarily.. depends on your course :) but there are sooo many courses and tutorials online about that. I am sure you'll find something if you are interested :)

It's definitely more creative than analytical, if that makes sense. So there is no hard science involved 😎But if you are not creative / into marketing then it might be hard for you 👀
