Another component that seems to be reasonable priced is their lightweight 1S VTX kits. also cheaper Goggles make an option for a backup spare, or spectator Goggles.
I bought the WALKSNAIL OG goggles not goggles X and i love them the Avatar is a great goggle to own. I'm selling all my DJI and switching over to walksnail cause of the 1s VTX. DJI never listens to the community like WALKSNAIL does and i respect that from a COMPANY.
I agree with you that the flexibility that walksnail provides with the broader range of VTX is amazing. I fly walksnail the most, despite I have also analog and DJI, and it's exactly for the reason you are pointing out. I would consider selling my DJI stuff if it wasn't because I use it to support my customers.
Thanks. I want people to enjoy the hobby as I do, and I share my designs and do this videos because of that. I hope you can find a way back to it at some point.

0:41 You said that the FatShark alternative is not so good - do you mean the FatShark Recon HD? They are also Walksnail box goggles, even cheaper, and seem to be very similar to the Avatar Goggles L. Do you have access to them an could make a comparison video? As far as I know they have basically these differences: - The Recon HD have an external video output, the Avatar don't. - The Recon HD can be used with optical correction glasses, the Avatar is too narrow for that and need a special correction frame. - The Recon HD have an FOV of 44°, the Avatar 75° - is this like comparison between a home tv screen and imax cinema? And what else differences are there? Is there a difference in visual quality, etc...?
Yes. I meant that one. The biggest problem aside of whatever they can offer is that fatshark is kind of dropping the ball big time. You don’t know if you will get support if you buy them, they don’t seem to be working with walksnail anymore, so what happens when there’s an update? Will those goggles be supported like the walksnail goggles L? Those are very important questions beside the feature set of each one. When was the last time you saw fatshark doing something new?
@@NordFPV Oh thanks, thats good to know! I'm before the beginners status and just gathering information for assembling my very first flight kit. With walksnail update you mean there should be a potential firmware update for the goggles as well? I'm an old fart with prescription glasses, so the fatshark seemed quite interesting. The video output is also a supernice feature for me. But if there is no future support anymore, thats a big disadvantage...
@@kokolorenz Nothing is for sure, but I'm just talking about the probability. Walksnail VTX are updated all the time, and so far the fatshark goggles has been supported, but who knows until when since that relationship seem broken. When it comes to glasses: The Goggles L have a frame you can do your own prescription and have them attached to the goggles all the time. I had one of this box fatshark goggles long time ago, and I was suposed to fit my glasses in, and it was a joke, the goggles pushed so hard the glasses on the side it left a mark in my face and I couldn't fly more than 10 min like that.
@@NordFPV Hm yeah, thats hard to tell remotely if glasses fit in such goggles. About the Goggles L, there might be another problem with this correction frame: In a few reviews, the people say that the display inside is too big that you can see the upper and the lower edge of the picture at the same time (without correction frame). You have to move the goggles on your face a bit, to see either the top or the bottom. Which means that u don't see all drone status information at the same time. I'm farsighted (+3), which means that correction glasses for me always enlarge the image I see as well. Which means that this problem with the cut off edges in the Goggles L might get even worse. In opposition to that, if you're using a correction frame for nearsighted, that Goggles L problem might completely disappear. Do you use that frame for farsighted or nearsighted?
yes - I have never ever flown with goggles before - flew my fixed wing with goggles L yesterday for the first time it was quite scary, the picture is quite small, I could not see the nose of the glider so it was just open air looking. i'd take the goggles off and was lucky to find the glider by sight, got far away quick. no flight controller and easy to get lost. I need more practice & a spotter. I am wondering if goggles X will have a better view. felt like trying to watch a movie on a ipod too small. I hope I can get the hang of it.

I'm guessing that's in some kind of tech stat. And those are normally measured in very controlled environments. I really doubt these goggles will every reach 4Km, not even in perfect conditions. Best case scenario 1Km and with really really good conditions. As mentioned in the video, my test was on an area where there should be a lot of noise, and I didn't fly high enough to go far.
