I like the new format where your team helps you out with several steps of the build. It takes the pressure off your shoulders, and the whole video comes across in a fresher format. Great build as always. Thanks for sharing.
The guitar looks and sounds great. So pleased the inlay through the body didn't just get filled with epoxy resin. That just would have been to predictable and its getting so common and over used with rustic pieces of timber. The way it has been done also gives it a nice bit of texture and also leaving the holes unfilled. Another master piece from Crimson Guitars...
That's a nice guitar. I like the unconventional racing stripe- very classy. Much as I enjoy your flights into uncharted territory such as the Complication and the Cyberpunk, this fairly traditional build was good to see and a refreshing change with this format. Congratulations to the whole team. When I was still living with my parents, my bedroom window overlooked a cricket field, the other side of which were about a dozen mature elms. I was very sad when they were cut down due to Dutch elm disease, they were such pleasing things to see first thing in the morning.
Gorgeous guitar Ben! It's great that you've been able to rescue a piece of history, give it a new life, and allow it to continue making beautiful sounds.
Love this format, full build in a single video. I enjoy the build series with more videos too, but I don't have the time to spend hours watching so I tend to skip through them to see the build progress a little quicker. Condensed into a single video is a good format. Although for the more detailed and intricate designs probably more videos are better 😄
Great work of art guys! When I've got some time and money, I'm coming over for a couple of weeks and I'll be bringing my own explorer inspired body template with me.
When ever I see the inlay section of guitar builds it always gives me an overwhelming sense of anxiety. It may not be a functional part of the guitar but it is a major aesthetic part of the look of the guitar and can be a selling point
One day build, Ha Ha. Wasn't it four days in the end, really enjoyed this condensed video build without the wife moaning at me for sitting in front of the laptop all day.
This build reminds me of when Fender made a Strat from wood they obtained from the old Ha' penny bridge in Dublin. A guitar I would love to even see let alone own or play.
Very cool! You should get a fancy braded cord and run it through that long hole then put some fancy Victorian tassels on each end and let them hang off.
Its interesting how someone early in the video mentioned how light the elm was. I built my first telecaster style guitar using 150+ year old elm and it weighs 10.5 lbs. Very nice build . Looks great. Happy new year Crimson guitars.
Ben, this guitar is truly stunning and with so much history. This one would be an absolute joy to own for anyone! Love that you built a DC as well, one of my 2 favourite guitar shapes, second only to the T-Style. Bravo!
I would rather watch videos like this one than either "shorts" OR "long-form full builds". Especially when you "upcycle" old items. If we're really creative people, we should aspire to be less destructive and wasteful whenever possible. Plus, it's more original than copy/paste. Very cool.
The only thing I would do differently with these already very good videos, is a pretty montage of demoing the guitar with a decent mic setup. Otherwise I’m liking the new videos a lot. They are one of my go to things to watch when I’m feeling a bit down. Hope your mental health journey is going well too, Ben ❤
Nicely done, another success for Crimson. But I can't help thinking that this fine piece of old elm didn't need that racing stripe, too, as it has such character on its own.
Another beautiful guitar build! One question, where you inlayed the picture frame, I noticed you didn't knock off the sharp edges on the guitar body. Wouldn't that be a point where chipping could occur?
I can no longer watch the full live streams so I'm very happy this came out. That said, I would maybe prefer a slightly longer version with less cut out. I think 45 minutes or so would be perfect.
It was be cool if one of these days you did a guitar with intricate engravings like that then poured a thin layer of apoxy with glitter or maybe a few layer that reveals different layer of the engravings
What a beautiful work of art. Though I would never own one of those, its just too pretty for me to mess around. Also, what of those holes in the wood? Ita cool to leave them unfinished? i thought you guys were gonna pour resin in them, I guess they're fine, right?
Have you guys thought about using a tonex or something? Would be great to hear a direct singal at the end rather than room mics. Plus it how a lot of people record or practice nowadays. The uad stuff is also awesome
Ben since you’re a great carver I would like to send you my shotgun stock and fore-end to be re-checkered. 😄 On the gilded piece, if played often, how long before the leaf wears off?
Long long time watcher in the wings, 👀, I on the other hand don't hate it 😊 interesting format, at least having support with the guys we don't have to witness your slow decline into high blood pressure cafine fueled meltdown 😂 take care of yourself my friend 😉
Like the new format, should be a lot better for your MH, especially if you continue to delegate the basic stuff to your team. That said.... I think part of the channel's appeal is that when we follow you from week to week, we get invested in the build. We want to see what happens next. Short vids like this are convenient to watch, but I think you'll see a drop-off in engagement over time if you don't do the occasional "big build". It's like Vinyl vs Streaming. The inconvenience actually improves the experience of listening.
I'm not sure if I like it or not.. It does look really good, but where's the dramatic lights on the inside? Where's the bullet holes? And where's the rocket launcher? 😄👍
Sorry, but this is guitar building for the TikTok mindset. Crimson builds were a delight for the craft skills on display and the fascination of process. This looks like an airline ad (complete with airline ad music) transported to the world of guitar building.
What is that saw called, tell me its a wanker. It must be a wanker. But anyway, happy new year and beautiful work. Lets have 7 string this year. A super ibanez killer.
What’s Happening with the luthier planes I know you were disappointed with the fit and finish….. please I update on how many hours you had to put in before they came to us sorry I count remember the name this message was written off the cuff 💚💯🙏👊
Love your work but please ditch all the terrible stock music. It's unnecessary and off-putting. Too much use of it on UA-cam in general at the mo. This isn't TV. You don't have to make something that assimilates a TV show. Otherwise, peace and love and keep being amazing!
Not gonna lie. The lip on the body where the inlay is bugs me. Just makes the whole thing look like cheaper construction than it is. Guitar would have been better without it.
As a long time crimson fan i'm really unimpressed by this guitar. Apart from the old wood there's nothing about that i like, and that's a first as far as your youtube builds go. Just saying...
I think it's great for people who have this idea of building their first guitar. GGBO is about promiting instrument building and this is example of something simple and cool. Good for promiting, good for the very thing GGBO is about.
Maybe you should watch Ben's videos about his current battles before making such comments. There is a back story to this guitar which if you have seen should make you consider what the point of this video is. Ben if you read this comment hope it doesn't put you off doing what you do! You are as inspiring as always.
I like the new format where your team helps you out with several steps of the build. It takes the pressure off your shoulders, and the whole video comes across in a fresher format. Great build as always. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, adding acollaborative element changes things up a bit.
Yeah and it's nice to hear the guitar demoed with some distortion and not just clean! 😄😂
It’s also fun to see Crimson employees doing amazing work alongside Ben.
I probably would have flooded the racing stripe with epoxy, for comfort, and to keep dirt and grime from accumulating. But what an awesome look! Nice.
exactly what I was thinking too, it has untidy edges and gaps around it which somehow spoil the effect and will not stand the test of time
I agree!
Agreed
Or at least have ”coppered” the channels wooden edges…
I'm glad i wasn't the only one thinking this. I'm surprised he could leave it like that
Most simple elegant and beautiful guitar, love the old to new concept, and I’m a fan of wood and copper combo.
Thank you so much.
Oh wow. That's what you call a "bright" sound!
Beautiful, mesmerising film.
Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou!
Pete 🏴
Glad you enjoyed it

Awesome build as always Ben and team.
Love your videos, keep em coming!
Thanks! Will do!
Gorgeous guitar Ben! It's great that you've been able to rescue a piece of history, give it a new life, and allow it to continue making beautiful sounds.
Thanks so much!
I like the shorter format. I have to admit to getting impatient with 50 3 hours episodes of a build. XOXO
I’m impressed by your skull tattoos. That must have been a really painful experience! Kudos to you for enduring that!

We will be very pleased to see you.
Really enjoyed the new format guys. Love the old style too but its good to have variety.
Glad you like it!
YES Build more GUITARS!!!!!
When ever I see the inlay section of guitar builds it always gives me an overwhelming sense of anxiety. It may not be a functional part of the guitar but it is a major aesthetic part of the look of the guitar and can be a selling point
Simple idea + precise execution = beautiful guitar! Keep up the good work Ben 👍🏻
Thanks! Will do!
One day build, Ha Ha. Wasn't it four days in the end, really enjoyed this condensed video build without the wife moaning at me for sitting in front of the laptop all day.
thank you.
Loving this new format, I wish I could afford to buy this guita
So glad to see you back in the saddle Ben. Loving the new format.
Awesome, thank you!
Happy to see the Crimson team building guitars again.
This build reminds me of when Fender made a Strat from wood they obtained from the old Ha' penny bridge in Dublin. A guitar I would love to even see let alone own or play.
They were the Irish Roots Telecaster and Stratocaster made by John Cruz. They both have old halfpenny coins inlaid by the bridge.
Very cool! You should get a fancy braded cord and run it through that long hole then put some fancy Victorian tassels on each end and let them hang off.
Darn cool !
That elm is tough stuff, wagon wheel hubs,,,, some were made with white elm.
I've seen some.
Its interesting how someone early in the video mentioned how light the elm was. I built my first telecaster style guitar using 150+ year old elm and it weighs 10.5 lbs.
Very nice build . Looks great.
Happy new year Crimson guitars.
thank you, same to you.

Such a beautiful piece of musical machinery.
Love the way you've recycled with this build. Please more of the same!
Was thinking the same thing. Not sure if I like that picture frame inlay portion
Beautiful workmanship.
Thank you! Cheers!
Great new format. Thanks Ben & the team.
Well done lads! Love the team format
Thank you
I absolutely adore the body shape of this guitar! I would love to see that wood in translucent red!
I can no longer watch the full live streams so I'm very happy this came out. That said, I would maybe prefer a slightly longer version with less cut out. I think 45 minutes or so would be perfect.
Great format.
It was be cool if one of these days you did a guitar with intricate engravings like that then poured a thin layer of apoxy with glitter or maybe a few layer that reveals different layer of the engravings
Another great build and super fun to watch the process. When does Ben get to make a nebula of his own?
Looks pretty good sounds nice as well. Kind of a mix of old beat up and fancy at the same time. Like old faded elegance.
Fire brand the medallion!!!
The antique “racing stripe” would have looked dope diagonally as part of a beveled arm cut.
I am not ashamed to tell the world: I LOVE ELM.
... and now someone needs to play "Hells Bells" on it 😂
What a beautiful work of art. Though I would never own one of those, its just too pretty for me to mess around.
Also, what of those holes in the wood? Ita cool to leave them unfinished? i thought you guys were gonna pour resin in them, I guess they're fine, right?
I enjoyed what I saw from the live streams on this one. Is there a rough idea when the Q&As with Ben will return? I have missed them ❤ all
We are not sure. Please keep and eye on the channel.
My favourite part is the inlay
Have you guys thought about using a tonex or something? Would be great to hear a direct singal at the end rather than room mics. Plus it how a lot of people record or practice nowadays. The uad stuff is also awesome
Love it! Awesome work as always!
Thank you! Cheers!
Still building my ggbo2023 scratch build carefully and diligently no more shortcuts.
Good luck.
Ben since you’re a great carver I would like to send you my shotgun stock and fore-end to be re-checkered. 😄
On the gilded piece, if played often, how long before the leaf wears off?
Fantastic
I built a guitar out of plastic and it sounds pretty great too 🤷🏻♂️ It’s nowhere near as impressive as this though! This is an absolute work of art!
Long long time watcher in the wings, 👀, I on the other hand don't hate it 😊 interesting format, at least having support with the guys we don't have to witness your slow decline into high blood pressure cafine fueled meltdown 😂 take care of yourself my friend 😉
The hope was that it would be finished in time - didn't happen. Thank you for the good wishes.
That inlay not being flush with the body ruins it. Could do clear acrylic over it to make it flush.
What scale lenght?
That peripheral riff chords 😅
Also here for the music... any chance a wee pop-up could tell us who's assaulting our ears ❤️
Lovely instrument, but I really liked the look of those pickups, what are they?
Fishman actives, but don't ask me the variant or model number.
Like the new format, should be a lot better for your MH, especially if you continue to delegate the basic stuff to your team.
That said....

Thank you for your input. We have taken note.
For someone that loves to burn wood and as crazy of builds that you've done, why haven't you done a sho Sugi style body?
Have a look at this playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLp6z5fUMeeAbRHEomIvlMS2PNepll5bt4.html&si=bCNsVU3JiUhOpFZe
I'm not sure if I like it or not..
It does look really good, but where's the dramatic lights on the inside? Where's the bullet holes? And where's the rocket launcher?
😄👍
A beautiful guitar from recycled wood
love it
I do miss the multi video format for builds. Livestreams don't interest me and it seems that is the focus these days.
We are hoping to get back to more videos.
Sam's wiring didnt make the edit?
Or Matt's drilling prowess?
Oh well, the secrets of the livstream!
Sorry, but this is guitar building for the TikTok mindset. Crimson builds were a delight for the craft skills on display and the fascination of process. This looks like an airline ad (complete with airline ad music) transported to the world of guitar building.
Sorry…but I’m not feeling the racing stripe recess. Looks like it’s in too deep. May be softening the edges can help.
The wood looks so good to me that I’d have preferred it without it at all. All a matter of personal taste I suppose…
I agree. Ben struggles when to stop. Sometimes simple is better.
If you have spare wood, maybe you could make another one in the shape of a bell.
I don't really like the imperfections in wood showing in guitars but that's still a beautiful guitar.
Are you sure?
Maybe European Elm?
What is that saw called, tell me its a wanker. It must be a wanker. But anyway, happy new year and beautiful work. Lets have 7 string this year. A super ibanez killer.
The demo really should have been for whom the bell tolls
Do you ever look at a piece of wood and get goosebumps?
Oh yes.
@@CrimsonCustomGuitars - I'm glad it's not just me.
What’s
Happening with the luthier planes I know you were disappointed with the fit and finish….. please I update on how many hours you had to put in before they came to us sorry I count remember the name this message was written off the cuff 💚💯🙏👊
7:35 I still think that the inlay looks like an old man.
Where is Sophia?
Working in the school.
Sad the first play wasn't for whom the bell tolls 😢
Boy, lots of whiners in the comments this week. Great build! :)
Looks great….sounds….
If you can hear the strings acoustically in the recording its never a good representation of its sound.
Love your work but please ditch all the terrible stock music. It's unnecessary and off-putting. Too much use of it on UA-cam in general at the mo. This isn't TV. You don't have to make something that assimilates a TV show.
Otherwise, peace and love and keep being amazing!
Looks and sounds like the sum of its parts only, sad to say. Ben has done better.
Sorry, the inlay doesn't really do it for me. It's nice & all, not for me.
No otherwise, deal breaker
Agreed.
AW Man.... I was expecting P90s......
Not gonna lie. The lip on the body where the inlay is bugs me. Just makes the whole thing look like cheaper construction than it is. Guitar would have been better without it.
Great building skills but hell that is one ugly geetar guys, sorry.

Ben needs helpers to build? Pah....
They were hoping that with 3 of them they would have it done in a day as time was so short for the build. Sadly, that did not happen.
it's gorgeous
