@alisanchazz Thanks so much! When walking, I do tend to use my second finger exclusively (middle finger) except on super up tempos. And for soloing to a certain speed of eighth note...but for this one with the string crossings, definitely a 2 finger job for me! Man, those guys like OP got a nice big woody sound...at the same time, everything was setup different than the basses of today with gut strings and all and wouldn't work if you want to play a funk line. If you're ever in NYC, look me up!
@AndyCaru I'm using Velvet Animas these days, though at times I've been very discouraged by their quality control. Grenadier uses a Velvet Anima on the G string and Helicores on EAD. So good call tonally.
now can you do it with just one finger just like Oscar and all those old cats used to?... na... just kiding... i gotta work with my two fingers playing myself... good sound, good intonation, good frasing and swinging... wish i could improvise that way... i might just look for you if i ever go to New York... cheers mate... ^_^
Amazing, great sound! Please tell me what the sizes of the strings Velvet Anima! I'm going to buy Velvet strings, but I don't know what to choose between Velvet Anima and Velvet Garbo. Thank you!!!
ok on arco, but ive moved since to Pirastro Olivs. i miss the anima g, but arco is better, and my fingerboard is not getting destroyed (had to replace fingerboard). plus i was burning through 3 sets of animas a year as they would unwind. and no random buzzing now when im in the studio. I'll be buying some strings from the original Velvet maker, who is independent now, hoping to find best of both worlds
have you tried those Gensler strings (I assume thats who You're talking about). How are the Oliv's working for you? Still missing the Anima? Would love to see more videos.
Right on point
Nice solo! I like your use of chords, and heard some licks I'd love to use! Keep posting new stuff!
Nice playing mate. I’m going to re learn this tune thanks . I will be in touch

Amazing, great sound! Please tell me what the sizes of the strings Velvet Anima! I'm going to buy Velvet strings, but I don't know what to choose between Velvet Anima and Velvet Garbo. Thank you!!!
Roman215329 Roman, I was using Velvet Animas here. The Garbos don't work for me, as they are practically useless for arco playing
+Thomson Kneeland Nice vid! How do you find the animas on arco playing?
ok on arco, but ive moved since to Pirastro Olivs. i miss the anima g, but arco is better, and my fingerboard is not getting destroyed (had to replace fingerboard). plus i was burning through 3 sets of animas a year as they would unwind. and no random buzzing now when im in the studio.
