Great video Tony. For me the boat shoe is a great all around shoe. Growing up in a port town, it was the shoe that our dads and uncles wore for everything. A new pair for 5 o’clock mass with khakis and a polo; the old pair for everything from fishing, boat work, mowing the lawn etc. Once broken in they feel nearly as comfortable as a sneaker. Love the videos man.
Agreed. In the late 1970's I went to a graduate school in a very preppy medical school in NYC. Almost all the students wore boat shoes with, I wouldn't say baggy, but loose fitting khakis. I accepted them as normal footwear and have worn them for 20 more years. When I was busy with kids, I worn them around the house. I am a loafer man now, but I would rank the boat shoes higher. As for the mull, or woven mull, it depends on how formal the front looks. If they looked formal, it would look like your heel is on the back of your shoes, and also equivalent to a mullet hairstyle. Casual style looks fine.

I wasn't expecting to have a near identical rank, but I did. I'm a teacher in Arkansas. My summers are very casual and centered around the outdoors. My Teva tan lasts well into November. That said, Tevas arent what I would choose for Church or a nice restaurant. If the situation is formal enough to call for a tucked in shirt, it also calls for a closed toe shoe. In my case I'm reaching for my suede loafers or monk straps. I also keep my blue Sperry sneakers handy. If they were good enough for Mr Rogers, they are good enough for me.

Your Dapper Dog picks would be way out of line in my Florida beach city (not Miami area). Of course, those picks would be nice for 'upscale' non-beach locations but I hang out at the beach. Sandals are fine IF you go in the sand but I rarely see guys wearing sandals with any sand on them - way too casual of a look off the beach, IMO. Plus, most of us guys have ugly feet. lol My long-time picks have been Sperry Topsider boat shoes and I often have the nicest shoes in the local bars. Yes, boat shoes in a non-beach city can look out of place - especially the highly-colorful ones. At my Scottsdale AZ place, I also have Sperry leather/canvas sneakers since I have no worries about getting them wet or soiled. Yes, most of the advice here is for 'big city living' but the content is enjoyable and it's good to get different perspectives. Keep at it!
I agree. I’ve got a pair of Crocs with no perforations. They’re great for yard work and watering the garden. If they get muddy, just give them a rinse and a wipe down.
I’m a little embarrassed to say it, but growing up in the Boston projects and having done a little bar security on occasion, I feel most comfortable wearing something I can effectively fight in, or run in-if I have to! I don’t want them flying off if I gotta kick someone- or, if their soles are slippery, I don’t want to end up on my back, either. So, I want them secure to my feet and with a good grip. If they fulfill these requirements and are actually good looking, great!
How are the classic leather loafer very comfortable? Had plenty of them and I would always avoid them during summer, as the leather really doesn't help with the feet breathing.

Tiva sandals are great. I’d say 80% of my walking throughout the year is made in the sandals. I stop around 10 deg Cels. Below that it is sometimes to cold.

Yeah, no. That first entry for the silly dress slippers (mules) as if they were actual shoes. Those things are ridiculous and not even remotely close to "stylish". Personally I think they come across as just full on "fashion victim" status for people who'd wear ANYTHING if someone told them it was stylish no matter how foolish they look.
Double monk is easily in the stylish category. I would have been quite angry had they been disrespected. Can never go wrong with some nice double monks.
My Moroccan mates sported something like those Mules, and I thought they were the coolest ever. I tried to rock them, nah didn't work. Later I saw my spanish mate looking amazing in Espradilles. Then I got them-just doesn't look the same. Perhaps it's best to stick to your local classic. So, as an Aussie, I'm doomed to looking best in thongs/pluggers (that is, flip-flops) !

Very inconsistent rating system. For three different styles, you mentioned that they each had their place, but each would look terrible worn in another context. They were the running shoe (OMG No), the sandal (Good to Go), and Crocs (Maybe). Each should have received the same low score. You can't assume that they will generally be used in the correct context, since real world evidence shows that many men wear them in the wrong context.

Nobody mentions desert boots (suede chukka boots) when they talk about summer shoes. During the cooler months, I always wear Chelsea boots, but during the warmer months, I switch to desert boots. They're very breathable, they look sharp, and I highly recommend them.
I usually agree (or at least do not disagree) when you do these ranking videos. I finally disagree with 1 shoe ranking. The mules belong down in the OMG No! category. I do not like them for women either. If I never see them again on a man, it will be too soon.

Double monkstraps can hardly be called "summer shoes". They are dress shoes. Perhaps BRAIDED shoes are missing, they are in the shape of a classic shoe, but due to their manner of processing they are fit for hot and humid weather.
