For people complaining about Pilaf, Demi has said all of Pilaf’s litter mates and parents were normal sized and had no health issues. They dont know why Pilaf is that small, they believe she just has a form of dwarfism which is a genetic condition yes, but it was not purposely bred for.

I adopted two senior chihuahua a few years back. One passed and one remains. They have been really good dogs once I got the yapping and nipping under control. I think it’s all about proper training with small dogs in a big world. I’ve been delighted with a dog so easy to carry, to travel with, and to clean up after. Never thought I’d be a chihuahua person but have to say they are so much easier to handle than a big dog but come with all of the benefits of a regular dog. Demi’s dog looks relaxed with people and seems calm in a new and busy environment. She had done something right as a dog owner!

Show breeders, puppy mills, and backyard breeders overwhelm the system producing more than a million pups a year while that same amount die on the streets or are euthanized in kill shelters every year. I grew up with Chihuahuas because my mom liked them. Starting at about age 8-9, we had pet Chihuahuas, usually with big names my dad gave them: Napoleon then Maximilian. Now, my sister has had about 4 different Chihuahuas, all with Hispanic names except her latest, Gus-Gus.
Squeeeeee! I have one just like her but mine is standard size for a chihuahua. I was also terrified to even touch her when I first brought her home because she was so tiny. I can't imagine how delicate Pilaf must be! My baby is a rescue and I've never had a dog bond to me the way she has. She is so fiercely protective of me despite her size. She would have made it very clear to everyone on that stage that I belong to her and they had better keep their distance!
