God, just seeing this Harrier fully loaded like this, makes my groin section tingle.
The explosive filler got fixed so larger caliber 25-30mm guns on aircraft hit like a truck again. SparksBeGone
What exactly got changed?
@@RAZOR_XXX from what I've heard amongst friends and what it feels like from playing the larger caliber aircraft cannons is they changed how the explosive filler works for certain belts also meaning that the brand new harrier hits like a freaking truck. Basically when you hit something it goes boom now instead of very frequently sparking and doing just a hit it does more fuselage damage

That is 100% wrong. Nothing has been changed, the RDX(and a few others) explosive fillers are still not fragmenting as they should. What you're feeling is the new fuel explosions. The cannons are still bugged including the new 25mm ones.
Sparks have been fixed for well over a year now and I play on consistently 200+ ping.

bring all gbus because they have much farther range than mavericks which cant lock onto an actual target from farther than 6ish km while laser guided stuff has zero maximum range.

Quick heads up, if you equip some form of guided bomb, then equip the cannons in the other slot, there's a bug where it only equips one cannon and removes the target pod, meaning you can either equip both cannons and still use the target pod, or more interestingly you can equip one cannon along side the pod, which seems like it should be an option considering as far as I can tell, each cannon is a self contained unit, so hopefully they add the ability to equip them separately when they inevitably fix that bug.
I think it's a feature. Since a targetting pod is actually needed when using guided bombs.

I love the tech tree harrier for ground rb, so much so i got the american and the brit one, just because of the combination of ballistic computer and speed, and i never knew that you could land in helipads!! Thx for the tip, will be sure to use it next time

6. the target pod replaces a cannon, not a rail.
To elaborate on Eddy’s point, the GR.7 gets custom loadouts, so the reason Hunter had 5 GBUs was because he took 3 AIM-9s. 2 AIM-9s sit on a dedicated AAM rail, so you have 6 under-wing hardpoints for a variety of ordnance, though the outer pylons can’t handle too much weight so generally you’ll want to use them for the Paveway IIs

The Harrier GR.7 doesn't need them. Way more manoeuvrable than the older Harriers. Turns on a dime, when fitted with just missiles and gunpods

Previously it was Su-7's at 9.3/9.7 or Mi-35M at 10.3 or Mi-24V/P at 9.7
Now it's SU-25 which is infinitely better then SU-7 lol
So hell yeah SU-25 means a lot... and also coincidentally fits that 9.7 Soviet Ground RB lineup is so historical you can roleplay Afghanistan... or Chechenya now... lol

Honestly the GR7 is extremely dangerous. The thing can turn better than anything due to the nozzlesbeing able to vector in flight, extremely capable weaponry and a whole lotta countermeasures.

You don’t really need to use vectoring all that much cause it turns soo good. I only really needed to use it against the f-14 and certain dog fights.

This is actually better then MiG-27K
Primarily because thermals... now if it had laser guided missiles... it would be a lot better... but it gets 6x Laser guided bombs... so potentially 6 kills compared to 4 kills on MiG-27k
Now MIg-27K is faster and climbs better because it's mach 2 afterburner boi... so idk what to think about that...
But Harrier has shit ton of flares... 700 in total
Oh and a big one... harrier can just land and rearm at the heli pad lol
@@kajmak64bit76 The MiG-27 isn't mach 2 capable, despite what the stat card says, so it's more of a buzzword than anything else. The harrier also handles and retains energy much better so in this specific case it's actually faster on average.

@@kajmak64bit76 the loadout and absence of radar are irrelevant, it's different from the MiG-23 in two key ways.
The engine itself is optimized for low altitude thrust, and lost its rearmost variable geometry nozzle, but most importantly, the MiG-27 does not feature variable geometry air intakes. They removed them to save weight, and they are absolutely essential to avoid compressor stalls at high speed and high altitude.
Doesn't matter down low but it is *not* mach 2 capable.

Its not just you, it looks amazing, I think its going to be a pretty fun aircraft
this is because Gaijin doesn't do the modeling in-house. They hire contractors for it. Most obvious in this regard are ships (if you have a Nvdia GPU you can check), where several Japanese ships have fully modeled (and sometimes partially colored) bridges and interiors while others are empty inside, depending on who modeled it.
Same for the Harrier II, seems like the one they hired had a ton of passion for the project to make it as good as possible.

Their quality has been getting better and better, if you look at the different IS-2s at 6.3 you can see the clear difference from when they were introduced.

@@Hunter_i86 put the guns on the loadout, then add a laser guided bomb, the game will then replace the left side gunpod with the TIALD but won't remove the right hand side one. it may or may not be a bug wink wink

hunter, I'll say more proflot. in the fleet at 6.0 people take 2-3 ships. and there they play an average of 15-15 and in tanks people take 1 tank and fights are 10-10 shorter in tanks at high ratings, in fact, they play less
I hate small maps for tanks gameplay and they are the majority sadly, battles are short .. I will not be able to make a Harrier video if I used my 2nd spawn as a ground vehicle .. the battle will end before using the plane.

Hey Hunter I had a question about the Harrier.
Every time I try to switch to my external view it resets my target point. Did you have the same issue?
Does it have navflir on the HUD and Cat's Eye goggles?
Then it's not a GR-7/9.
LITENING and the MAWS/EXCM pod did not come to the RAF until very late. Just a few years before retirement. Also, while you could launch with those kinds of loads, you would have a very hard time landing. Even with the F402-RR-408, the AV-8B Night Attack, which is the USMC equivalent to the GR-7 would be lucky to take off with one GBU-16 and a rocket pod, while the wing man would have the LITENING.
Even with the composite wing, the Harrier II is a big, ponderous jet.
Maybe with full fuel... most of the war thunder requires minimum load... not full load lol
Hey Hunter, I don’t have this plane but it looks to currently be the best CAS jet. It can take five potent laser guided bombs (or six without the pod), or fire and forget AGM-65Ds, thermal sights with the 65D or the Tilad pod, as well as all aspect missiles, the most countermeasures in the game, and good climb rate. It has more payload than the Jaguar GR1B and A. IIRC the MiG-27K while faster has less payload and no thermals. And while the A-7E has comparably potent weaponry and thermals, I’ve flown it and think it’s speed and climb rate holds it back. I only have up to rank 3 British planes but this aircraft alone makes me excited to grind Britian. Do you like the plane?

actually it can carry 6 gbu with the pod
@@thatguynk8044 @ThatGuyNK It is a heavy bomb, don't use it at far distance .. also after Drone Age I felt the behavior of laser guided bombs has changed, it is more realistic now and more difficult, before the update they were flying in a straight line from very far distances, for example that 7:30 kill would not be possible before, the bomb would overshoot.
A warning to everyone, @lols mcfee is wrong. Cannons have not been fixed in this patch and most explosive fillers are still bugged and not fragmenting. What you'll be feeling is the new fuel explosions for I believe 23mm and larger cannons.
Since they already add Su-25, are u gonna use the plane with the rocket pods?

I can see how you use periodic countermeasures as a way to have both ways "bound" to a single action. How do you do that?
Press it one time for periodic CMs, spam the same button to launch more and faster.
I really hope that the AV-8B Harrier II (Night Attack) gets added to the U.S. Tech Tree in the next update. I was really disappointed when I found out that there was no U.S. variant of the Harrier II being added at the same time along with the Harrier II GR.7 this update.

@Rondole Dingle I understand, but Britain only had the Jaguar that can carry guided weaponry. America has many different vehicles and weaponry to choose from. Maybe in a future update I can see AV8B being added into the American tech tree though

It really is a good looking jet isn’t it. I was hyped for the su-25 but when it came to live server, it felt meh, like a novelty
The Su-25 is just another gimmicky CAS plane just like the A-10, while the really useful CAS planes are the A-7, the Harrier II, the MiG-27K and in the future the Su-24 and A-6 Intruder with Anti-radiation missiles.
Was planning on grinding out Soviet air with the su-25, maybe for 10 year anniversary they’ll release the su-25T

I lost it eventually for sure while doing such strong maneuvers but the target was close and static so the bomb didn't need the lock all the way.

Hunter I have a problem with the harrier GR7, the thermal of the TIALD and the AGM 65D are not working in normal matches, they are only working in flight test mode. are you having the same problem?
In test fly you test vehicle with thermal ON, in actual battle you can't, unless you unlock and purchase the right modification.

My thermals dont work for some reaoson in battle, only in test drive and ground target dont render at longer distance
ok, needed "NVD" research for thermals...but ground targets still dont render until like 6km
How do you bomb with the paveways? I've had a bit of a break from the game so I didn't really get a handle of the guided bombs
Toggle view button, Sight stabilization button, and a reasonable approach to the target.

@@Hunter_i86 I highly disagree, I can rarely even lock and there's so many rendering issues that make it hard to find targets at high alt anyway. If anything, the current SPAA is braindead easy (except bugged stormer). If I use ADATS, I can wipe an entire team of aircraft.
@@thesauceguy1809 I understand but also AGM-122 is too much. For the SPAA I played Roland 10.0 after drones age and some battles were ending with 8 aerial kills only by my missiles .. I didn't say we need a more powerful technology, I said a new technology .. for diversity.

What’s the laser range for the GBUs? In my mig-27k I can out range flarakrads, but in this video you seem to be dropping from lower altitude than usual. Is the rangefinder not as good as the 27k? Can you drop from say, 7,000m ?
I think they changed the behavior of laser guided bombs in general, it now depends on your approach .. you can drop and hit targets while level flying but also you can miss a lot if the approach wasn't good enough.

You can lock and fire Maverick D through TIALD pod, not only that .. you can fire multiple Mavericks through the pod screen, similar to Walleyes on A-7E.
@@Hunter_i86 this is huge because the regular maverick seeker on the A-10 sucks and it has terrible range. The quality of thermal looks pretty decent. It still seems like you had a few issues with them trying to ground lock

After I saw the modifications and weapons of the Harrier GR.7 I said man this plane is the main jet of this major update, not Mirage 2000 and not Su-25.

Hello .. don't worry much about range when using laser guided bombs .. the approach is what matters, I mean knowing when to drop them in a dive and when to drop them while level flying.
