@@CubanRider The fact that you ride as long as I am and you are so fast pisses me off, and inspires me at the same time :)) Also, because of you I am currently saving money to switch from my FZ1 to an S1000 XR. So, thank you man!

Hi Mark, I wasnt suprised to hear that you were impressed with the bike. As a previous GS owner of many times this was the bike I'd ordered to replace the boxer engine i had become so accustomed to but changed my mind and now have a DVT MS. The reason behind it was my desire to own something different after so many years on BMW's. The MS never quite hit the nail on the head till the advent of the DVT engine. Now I'm comfortably commuting daily on a Ducati MS which was what I was always looking for from years back. Personally, I think after a while you would get bored with the inline engine and would be moarning the loss of your twin, Ducati twin at that.

Just traded in my R Nine T for this beast a couple of days ago. Took a little bit to get used to the inline 4 - a very different engine than the Nine's twin. Makes it a kitten at low speed but a lion above 5K. Loving this thing. Super fast, handles like a sport bike, amazing electronics, really comfortable. Does surprisingly well off road - not a dune buggy but definitely an SUV. Best. Bike. Ever. At least for me. Great review Mark! Really enjoying your channel.
Cheers Mark took same bike out last weekend and deposit paid , pick up July 14th ish what a machine cant wait. sorry to see the Diavel go but hey ho, can go touring now with the missis happy days
CW motorcycles is my "local" dealer so I know the road to Sherbourne you were on very well as I've had my fair share on demo bikes from them. Last one being the R9T which is just beautiful to ride. Not tried the XR as of yet. I do know the the engine very well so I'm not expecting to many surprises when I do get around to trying one out. Nice bike and a very informative review.
Nice review. Acceleration would be a whole lot quicker though - if you didn't roll-off the throttle between upshifts! I rode it yesterday and loved it. I agree the clutch should be adjustable (HP lever option), but the quick-shifter is so smooth on the up-shift with minimal revs and I was surprised how beautifully smooth down-shifts were on a fully closed throttle. Pannier frames are an after thought, the mirrors and bars vibrated a little on mine, but no deal breakers. I'd have a Corbin saddle for touring and a clip on lip for the top of the screen, but that's it - loved the pops and crackles on the overrun at low speeds - that's worth the asking price alone IMHO LOL! :-D
Well I've given the new S1000xr a dam good thrashing lol..... I must admit I liked it more than I thought I would.....it's comfy, smooth, and foooooking fast 👀 The quick shifter is pretty cool and works very well, I see what you mean about the clutch lever having no adjustment I would have liked it a fraction closer......
Just bought this bike. Love it. Excellent. The only issue for me was I notice a humming coming through the handle bars. Feel kinda like I've been holding a blender. I've never own a true sport bike so probably just takes some getting use to the hum.
Liked your test ride and would agree with all your comments. Tested one of these about two weeks ago and put down a deposit hopefully getting it in mid July, as I found it amazing to ride and as like in line fours.
Great review Mark, I't always good to here what the reviewers comparing to as you did the whole way through, the only thing that id suggest when using a quick shifter in anger keep the throttle pinned to get the full effect. Thanks.
Great review Mark! I subscribed to your channel. These bikes have become so fast and powerful, If you buy this bike, you really won't miss a sports bike in terms of performance. I had my test ride on the BMW r1200gs and the bike was fantastic. Watching your review of the s1000xr now makes me kind of rethink. I probably have to test ride this one as well. Difficult decision.
Nice vid, nothing like a BMW in the British countryside. Like to see a review of the new Suzuki gsx-s 1000 and your opinion of the herky-jerky throttle.
Still can't make up my mind, test rode the S1000r for 2 days, loved it. Getting a bit oldish for sports bikes, need something more comfortable. But can't get sports bikes out of my head. Anyway the S1000r is a lot cheaper.
Thank you for this descriptive review. You are right on the exhaust, it need to be 30 degrees angle up. I asked around and it's possible with a new mount bracket..

I. Glad you said claimed because that is never 145 150 at the rear wheel the s1000r is close to those figures but never on this bike however I imagine it gains in the torque sector which is what these kind of bikes are all about. I have the s1000rr and I love it it's phonomenal and whilst not relevant to this video I find it very vibey compared to a Japanese inline 4.
A nice review and i'm sure its just something your not used to but the quick shifter on this model changes up and down without shutting off the throttle on the upshift or using the clutch on the downshift. Its odd I know but you get used to it, I almost kept forgetting to pull the clutch in when I came to a stop! Not ridden that bike yet but rode the MV Torismo Veloce and thats a very impressive bike too.
Best interview yet!! I'm down to 2 bikes. This or the KTM 1190S...Can you compare them ,power and handling wise? I'm in Colombia and would have to blindly because there is no test driving of anything here. I currently have a KTM 990 smt and am looking move on... Thank you
Hi Mark, I'm testing one tomorrow, I like what you've said so far......I've had a triumph explorer XC for 2 1/2 years now and love it but is it time for a change !!!! I had the k1600gtl before the triumph and said I wouldn't have another BMW lol........my brother has the new Ducati hyper strader but I've never been a fan of Ducati.... :(
Alex M. Hi alex ,tricky one that as they are both amazing bikes ,but the new dvt multistrada would just be my choice, only because I slightly prefer the huge low end grunt of the twin and its a more relaxing feel when touring...all the best mark
How is the wind protection at about 85 mp/h and above. Is it ok to ride like 2 hours on 85 on a motorway without pain in the neck in a comfortable position?
Great review, I'm also riding a MTS1200S, and was thinking this bike looked the business, but as you say, you need to ride them first before deciding. I'm just hoping I like the new MTS more.

Good video! Watching you sprint through the British countryside from my Texas living room is really fun, and your video tells me EXACTLY what I would want to know. Awesome job. SUBSCRIBED (and I don't subscribe often) :)
Hi Mark. I really enjoyed your review and your reactions to the acceleration test! Regarding the clutch lever that you didn't like. To me, it looked like a cable-actuated clutch and the lever adjustment is located on the cable, after the pivot point or hinge. Is that not correct?
AbidingDuder hi duder, yes its a cable clutch ,its got an adjusting wheel to take up the slack but that doesnt adjust the lever so to speak ,you generally get a wheel or small lever on the lever itself to adjust the lever to suit your preference, this lack of adjustment has been spoken about already on alot of the forums ..bmw do an aftermarket lever to sort this ..extra cost ..thanks bmw !..but im sure there are other levers from other manufactures that you can get ...hope this helps all the best mark
Soon Haur Teo hi soon ...i didnt notice any heat at all from the xr but it was a cool morning say 10c...the multistrada was the same didnt feel any heat at all but then it never really gets that hot in england in a very hot country going through a city you may feel some heat ..mark

Lorne Scott-Wilson would say approx 20,000 miles lorne ,i agree about shaft drive but its a bike with emphasis on power so you would loose a fair bit of power with a shaft drive all the best mark
Great - of course 'Triumph Tiger' comes to mind. Triple cylinder circumvents any cruising-speed vibes, and next year adds a 1200cc version to the 800cc line-up currently available? I tried BMW's triple when they made one, it was smooth to the point of dull, compared to the 4-cylinder closest other bike they made. Definitely know Tiger riders who already embarass some sports bike owners, with even old versions of that bike. My own bike is a UJM.
Dear mark, which one would you say has a faster acceleration? the 2015 multistrada or the bmw xr? Also, you mentioned in your video the bmw seemed a little less comfortable, is it still tolerable? What are the pros and cons between those 2 bikes?
Hi no both bikes are comfortable ...just the xr seat felt a little firm to me ....I feel the xr would just pull away in a standing quarter mile because of its slightly higher power ...but the multistrada has more kick out of corners ...either way its a very close match both are brilliant :)
I use mine for commuting, touring and scratching. The only niggle I have is the stretch to the clutch lever and how heavy it is, which is a pain in town riding when you're on and off the clutch...but like everything, you just get used to to it. Out of town it doesnt matter because you're using the quick shifter up and down
Would you classify this as a Sport Touring or Adventure touring? Can you ride this for 8 hours? How does it feel compared to the GS in terms for long distance travel?
Krish Mohan hi krish,id say sport touriing with an upright position, yes you could easily do 8 hours riding..id say the gs would be the better long distance tourer though ...due to its relaxed flat twin engine ...all the best mark.
korova83 Hi korova, they are both incredible machines ,both as good as each other but in different ways,id say the xr feels abit faster because of its revvier engine,if money was no object id have both ..all the best mark
Great informative review mate... As is your multisrada review... I'm torn between the two! Probs the Ducati though! Love your response to 2nd gear! F@cking hell!
Hi david ...probably one of the hardest choices this year ! Multistrada or xr as they are both so good . If I was buying one now the multistrada would probably just pip the xr but its so close ..if I had a lottery win id just buy both ! All the best mark
I'm curious on the quickshfit though, I noticed you were backing off the throttle each time you were changing gears is that out of habit or did you have to? The S1000RR I test rode I was told to flatshift it as it cuts the ignition as you pull up on the shifter which i did and it changes in a 10th of a second without loosing the pull..
FluffMuncher Hi fluff ,yes it was purely out of habit ..never used a quick shifter before and yes i was told the same to keep the throttle open to get the best gear changes ...totally awesome bike ..all the best mark
FluffMuncher, I have test-driven one last Sunday. The BMW staff instructed me, to open throttle while up shifting, and close throttle while down shifting using no clutch. It has something to do with how this pro-shift is constructed. When you do it first time it feels weird, but you get used to it very quickly, and it works brilliantly.
Aleksander Wisniewski Good work. When I was downshifting I just used the clutch on the RR, but during the upshift it was no clutch shifting with gives you a little engine pop as it hits the next gear.. very satisfying, I bought my ktm 1190 adv r and one of the things I wanted as an option was the quickshift, didnt end up getting it but with the intent to order it at a later date.. I still havent ordered it (2 years on) but i will one day hehe
MOHAMMAD FAHMIE MIHRAM Hi mohammad,,for me the bmw felt slightly higher, the multistrada has a narrower seat for 2015 and you can lower its seat by 20mm ,I beleive at some point bmw will be offering the xr with a lower seat/ chassis option,my choice would be the multi ..just ! ..only because im into v twins at the moment :)..all the best mark
well.... now that i read all the comments i find out that you prefare the multi dvt. Well, i had 1200S ohlins multi and base model 2013 and i tryed the DVT, well..... its so much refined, but also a bit boring bike... Damn fast but a bit to much touring in all the package.... thats my personal opinion so maybe the bmw is much more what i'm searching?
Cool review and all, but you can't say this is the fastest adventure bike if you haven't ridden the 2015 Multistrada. That thing is both nuts in acceleration and smooth as anything at all revs and RPMs. Ducati did a tremendous job with the DVT engine. Then there's the new KTM but...nah. I don't really trust them to get from here to there.
Hi there yes ive ridden both the dvt multi and ktm ..see my videos. ..I think the xr just feels so fast because of its high reving inline four engine plus the noise it makes but yes I agree the 2015 multistrada is bonkers too :) all the best mark
Ah, yes the I4 rush can make something feel faster. I've been on a 600cc I4 for 8 years now though and I'm ready to trade the rush 1% of the time for a more relaxed cruise 90% of the time, and the DVT is very sweet that way. Either way I need to get to a BMW dealer to test this out soon.
I've got the S1000R that I bought a couple of months ago as I was too impatient to wait and try this. I would take one for a test ride if only Riders in Cardiff would keep one for a demo instead of selling them all :)
I could do Mark but Riders are good boys and it's a quick 20 mins up the A470 and you're in the Brecons and then on to mid-Wales and they'll let me take the bike for a few hours :) I used to live and ride in England and it's a nonsense compared to Wales. I can wait. Take care, Ben
eserhs Hi they are both as good as each other ..just depends weather you prefer the screaming insane power of the xr or the low down grunt ot the dvt....i would say the dvt would be a nicer long legged tourer ....the xr is a bit more crazy sporty :)
Vstm No need... 1000 other people have, I've ridden the brother and was disappointed, I preferred the F800GS (Which I did own). Then I took a S1000RR for a spin and was all confused and thinking I no logner want an adventure bike as the rr put a smile from ear to ear on me.. The last thing I said to the dealer was, If only you took the engine from the rr and put it in the f800gs.. and they have! Although too late for me as I went with the KTM 1190 adventure r which I love and adore and wouldn't go back.
After watching this review, I've gone and bought a 2015 s1000xr with about 1k of extras. And my god this bike is awesome. Thanks for the great reviews you do!! Ride safe Mark!!
Daniel Dicker Hi daniel ,yes your one of tens of people who seem to be reporting this nasty buzz ,i didnt find it on the bike i rode ,i think bmw seriously need to look into this sounds like a quality issue which varies from bike to bike ..regards mark
mark pulling Then it doesnt make sense to buy this unless your touring because you can buy a new s1000r with dtc for 14k brand new. I have seen slightly used ones for 13k so I don't see the point if paying the extra cash for luggage racks and a windscreen unless your touring. Just my opinion.
I rode the BMW this week..found it disappointingly flawed... My review 2015 Watch "2015 BMW S1000XR - is the HYPE real?.." on UA-cam - ua-cam.com/video/emNORV3sNs4/v-deo.html

When I was downshifting I just used the clutch on the RR, but during the upshift it was no clutch shifting with gives you a little engine pop as it hits the next gear.. very satisfying,
I bought my ktm 1190 adv r and one of the things I wanted as an option was the quickshift, didnt end up getting it but with the intent to order it at a later date.. I still havent ordered it (2 years on) but i will one day hehe
Which bike has the higher seat position?Given a choice, which would you choose?2015 multistrada or the xr
Great review, awesome bike.
I would take one for a test ride if only Riders in Cardiff would keep one for a demo instead of selling them all :)
oldhairpin hi yes dealers have a habbit of doing that ! ...how about trying dick lovett bristol for a demo ? or is that too far for you..regards mark
I could do Mark but Riders are good boys and it's a quick 20 mins up the A470 and you're in the Brecons and then on to mid-Wales and they'll let me take the bike for a few hours :)
I used to live and ride in England and it's a nonsense compared to Wales.
I can wait. Take care, Ben
oldhairpin yes couldnt agree more ..quite often come up from poole to the brecons a470 a483 crossgates ..awesome
A483 Crossgates to Newtown and back again; if Carlsberg made biking roads..... ;)
Excellent & subjective review thanks Mark.Ps how about giving us your thoughts on the Aprilia Tuono 1100...?Gonna subscribe :-)
+Peter Miller now thats a bike id love to ride but the nearest dealer is quite a way from me ..hopefully oneday :)
Nice one. Are you down south? Might have to meet up :)
Which Bike hi ade yes im in poole ,yes meet up for a ride oneday ..cheers mark
Alrity. Will let you know the next time I am down your way, cheers.
I subscribed in hopes that it helps you get more keys from dealers.
Thanks andrew !
so which one is better for your opinion? Multistrada dvt or S1000xr ?
eserhs Hi they are both as good as each other ..just depends weather you prefer the screaming insane power of the xr or the low down grunt ot the dvt....i would say the dvt would be a nicer long legged tourer ....the xr is a bit more crazy sporty :)
Great review, loved to watch it! Please review It's brother with boxer engine R1200RS :)
Vstm will do !
Although too late for me as I went with the KTM 1190 adventure r which I love and adore and wouldn't go back.
mark pulling I'd also love to hear how the RS compares to the XR :-)
Lifeon2wheels ill try and get a go on the rs soon guys
Is that a cat dying there??? On 3:20.
"FAACCKKKKINNGGGG HEELLLLLL" excuse my language..... hahahahah love it
Lol ...the only vid I think I've sworn on !!
@@markpulling12 love your videos. Bought an explorer after your review. Might just trade my my GS for an XR after that one! So funny 🤣🤣🤣
After watching this review, I've gone and bought a 2015 s1000xr with about 1k of extras. And my god this bike is awesome. Thanks for the great reviews you do!! Ride safe Mark!!
Also the FAAACKKINNG HELL part of the film has been made into a meme in our group. One of the funniest things ive ever witnessed!!
@@foxindaboxx Pmsl brilliant !!
Nice ride huh?
Whats is the top speed ?
Im guessing about 150 ish
Test rode this one and found it INSANELY buzzy. Good engine, def light handling, but that buzz.... Forget it.
Daniel Dicker Hi daniel ,yes your one of tens of people who seem to be reporting this nasty buzz ,i didnt find it on the bike i rode ,i think bmw seriously need to look into this sounds like a quality issue which varies from bike to bike ..regards mark
mark pulling you do a nice job mark. Keep it up.
This is basically a s1000r that you can pot luggage on, isnt it?.
Blank Blankyes it shares the same engine as the s1000r
mark pulling Then it doesnt make sense to buy this unless your touring because you can buy a new s1000r with dtc for 14k brand new. I have seen slightly used ones for 13k so I don't see the point if paying the extra cash for luggage racks and a windscreen unless your touring. Just my opinion.
Great review Mark, shared it on www.s1000xr.uk/ , thank you so much, you set my mind at rest, this week she arrives, cant wait :)
Thanks
Mark
Brilliant thanks mark
Very nice review but please don't call this an adventure bike. It's a touring bike.
+Geza Denes I think you'll find it's an adventure sport bike!!
Hi guys. If ever you have GoPro power issues, go check this cool new invention: ua-cam.com/video/PN3AQDgKShU/v-deo.html
I rode the BMW this week..found it disappointingly flawed... My review 2015
