I'm definitely doing it My gerbils need something other than toilet rolls and you are amazing Actually U are the reason I got gerbils thank you so much Ur amazing 🤩❤
I finally added extra space to my gerbils tank and this was the first video that I wanted to watch to see if they were any interesting toys and I’m glad I clicked on it. Thank you for the tutorials.❤
@@PetConnectionInternational I like the maze idea, although takes some work. Cutting and Reinventing tubes into a ball with treats is smart. I just took cardboard and rolled it into a tube shape and they took to it right away! Better than flat cardboard.
Yeah the maze does take a little bit of work, but it's not as bad for simpler designs, I made them a multi-chamber hide for their enclosure afterwards and it was much easier than the way I did it the first time, I think the trick is folding up the sides of the cardboard to use as sides for less "glue"ing 😅 Plain old cardboard always goes down well though, my two got confused by the present box initially because it was cube shaped 😂
amazing video!!!! i definately have to try the egg carton thing! i always give them cardboard but the egg carton is a wonderful idea along with all the ways to encourage them to play with it! thank you for sharing!!!
You're welcome, I'm glad you found it useful 😊 I love the foraging toys, I always saw people give them to their mice, rats and hamsters, but because they were all plastic they wouldn't be suitable for gerbs, but now we have gerbil-safe options 😄 I really must credit shadow the rat for some of the inspiration though, she makes some awesome DIYs for her rats 😊
So glad you liked it ☺️ This was probably one of Timon & Pumbaa's favourite videos to film, they've just been getting loads of presents the last two weeks 😅
I love the flour glue idear :) I am going to get crafting some interesting stuff for gerbils especially the toilet roll middle cut and made into a boredom breaker ,that's brilliant because my fluff puffs can demolish a tube in under 2 mins and I have 15 gerbils and i don't use enough toilet roll to keep up with their speed and need for tubes ...anything to make them last longer will be brilliant ❤
I'm so glad you found them useful 😊 yeah, mine destroy tubes pretty quickly too, but they're loving the treat ball, and the crackers slow them down a smidge too 😅
I should have taken your advice before Christmas and separated my 7 clan girl tank because now I've woke up to an absolute blood bath in the tank and 4 of them look like nothings happen and 3 look like they won't even make it to me dropping kids in school :( I've made a medical box for the injured 3 and then they started fighting in the box I made , so I've had to put them in all separate big kids tubs for toys with gerbil bedding emergency fast , I'm in a right panic my poor gerbils look half eaten by the other bigger ones :( I fed them all twice yesterday did sand bath and gave them fresh parsley I thought they had no reason to argue if food is there and space. I've now got to decide who's going in pairs and work out who is fighting who ? in the next few hours I guess , before they smell different and start fighting again . I'm gonna try put the 2 ginger ones together and the brown one back in the big tank ..or do you think leave brown one alone to heal up ..it started really chasing and biting the badly injured bleeding one so I took her out. I've got to take them to be checked one is covered in blood and cuts my poor ginger fluff puff :(
Oh no, I'm so sorry this happened 😔 I would maybe leave the injured ones separated until they get checked out by the vet and heal, then split your remaining 4 into 2 pairs to help prevent any further fights. Then maybe consider pairing two of the injured ones back if possible, and try to get a buddy for the last one, then see how that goes I really hope it all works out okay for you, it sucks when gerbils fight ❤️
@@PetConnectionInternational so I actually traumatised after today. I was in happy la la land with my gerbil clans thinking I've mastered this siblings together all okay ...nope not okay they get grumpy at puberty and mine have just hit a 3 month marker and are now not happy together. So I've had to rehome 3 boys I had in a different tank so I can use their tank for these 2 girls that need to heal and live in a pair. The other slightly injured one attack my girls in the tub so I scooped her out and put in big tank with her sisters so I'm now gonna be on edge all night those 5 girls might fight still. Need to rehome another pair really I can't keep up with my tanks as it is with out adding another one. My gerbils are all calm but my hearts aching I had to let go of some of them to keep the cleaning and care with in my means :(
Glad it could help ☺️ Just a quick note: if by "break the cage" you mean bar biting, then that generally indicates a motivation to escape, more enrichment can definitely help with that, lots of chew toys to keep them busy, but it's also worth making sure your enclosure is large enough (the ideal is 100x50x50cm+) and they may need access to free roaming too, my current pair will bar bite if they don't get enough free roam time (for Luna this is hours 🙄😅). Just a couple extra things to consider that might help some more ☺️
@@PetConnectionInternational Ok Thank you for the reply. I been watching a lot of your videos and it got me into wanting a gerbail. I'm waiting on a glass tank 40x18x18 as recommended for space and I'm super excited. I love pets I used to have a hampster but found out you can actually have 2 together with gerbails and I was like ahhhhh yay. lol P.S I 'm still learning a lot but I'm very excited to eventually have my own cute little gerbails. You have a bin cage underneeth right?
Yep, now it's a 240l glass tank 🙂
Why is pine wood unsafe?
This link explains it: www.reddit.com/user/PetConnection/comments/z2laft/dangers_of_pine_cedar_bedding_references/?
Does it have to be certain paper or is it any type of paper you can use?
As long as it's plain and undyed it should be fine 🙂

Paper towel rolls and toilet paper rolls are my girls favorites. I get mad every time someone throws one away.
Gerbils do love their cardboard tubes 😄
