I’m so glad to have found this channel. There aren’t many gerbil only channels and it’s glad to see someone who knows what they’re doing. I really appreciate it.
Thank you! Technically I am not a gerbil only channel, as I have an audience for breeding Otocinclus fish as well, and every part of my content is important to me
Thank you so much for reviewing my enclosure (mine is the first one) I do actually sprinkle half their food around and give them half in a bowl, just so I know that they’re eating, I’ve also changed their bedding to carefresh so it holds burrows better.
tysm!! The large bendy bridges are so hard to find but I found some on amazon by searching up large bendy bridges for either rabbits or guinea pigs, they work amazingly I think they would look great in your enclosure!
Hey my photo was in there my gerbils are noodles and nugget. I took that photo in like October and now I have close to fifteen inches of bedding instead of twelve and I have a twelve inch wheel instead of eight inches. Thank you for putting this in the video!
Hiii!! I’m getting gerbils this Wednesday and I’ve been wanting them for so long! I’m so glad that I’ve found this channel and I’ve been binging all your videos in like the past few days 😅
Me and my sister get the large bendy bridges from pets at home. They have a load of different sizes for relatively cheap and they're great quality. Seeing all these awesome cages inspired me so much and I really hope you can do another one because I might get some gerbils in October (or sooner if I can convince my parents)!
Hi, I'm the one with the two connected tanks :) The food bowls are just extra sand area for them to poop in, I scatter feed them in the big tank :D And I'm not sure what you mean with the platform, I just have the lids and the front of the connector is covered with plexiglass (which they aren't able to chew on), so they can't get out. Also I'm so happy you liked the cage 😊
@@finsandwhiskers Hm, still not sure what you mean so I'm gonna describe everything a little😅 The wooden thing left of the daisies is just the "staircase" connecting the two tanks. The front is covered in plexiglass so they cannot get out. The "ladder" on the right leads up to the top of the tank, but is also covered in a wood/plexiglass construction. They then turn left and get into the stair case and climb down to the other tank. Above the daisies is just the lid of the big tank which is a little higher on the right side to fit the wheel. I could also send you more fotos if that would help😊
The binder for the treat sticks is actually Gelatine and not honey or anything sweet but thanks anyway. And to add, the bedding I use is finacard, teabag bedding as well as hay mixed in.
@@finsandwhiskers totally agree. This was when I first set the cage up and got the gerbils. A lot has changed since then including the removing the topper as it led to fighting
My gerbils have a mansion size of a cage, we have 3 5 gallon cages, one for tunnels/bedding/nesting, one for food and an outside sleeping place and one with their bathroom and wheel
Also I've changed up my enclosure, I now have a hanging coconut and the whole enrichment side is sand inspired by yours! I also love the stairs piece I use for my divider It's really helpful:)
This was so helpful as are all of your videos! We have had our gerbils for 6 months and I am learning that the bedding we had was TOO SHALLOW! I am transitioning from a 20 gallon to a 40 gallon tank and so learning alot from you about how to set up the habitat. I feel bad that I've not know to do deeper bedding sooner and that they are showing signs of boredom! eek! Grateful for all your support, and education and gerbil love
Im so glad you did this video! I'm considering get some gerbs if I can get my mom to agree, even though its coming out of my paycheck, and I was trying to figure out how to separate the sides between bedding and everything else. Using those bendy wood chew ladders is genius !
I'm extremely glad I found your channel! You have helped me so much. I am pretty new to this. Got my forst two in August:) Their name is Batman and Queen Elisabeth
awww great video!!! i just recently got my gerbils a huge gebril exhibit that's a believe almost fifty gallons, it's a ecoflex hutch and they really love it! it's a huge upgrade from their other cage. Your videos are really good, I love them!!!! I was thinking of starting a gerbil channel but I'm not sure lol!!
Nice enclosures! The German Vets (Tierärztliche Vereinigung) say, that the bedding should have at least 16 inches (40 cm). Since my gerbils live with 45 cm, they seem to be even happier :-).
i know i’m extra late but better late then never to ask? but if anyone knows where to get that superrrr extra large bendy bridge divider in one of the cages because im looking for new ones and i feel a really big one would be great for my boys x
One thing I've noticed with my gerbils is that they're SUPER picky. I thought I would just leave the food in there and not give them more so that they actually have to eat what they don't like. They ended up not eating for 2-3 days. When I decided to replace the food, they almost started fighting over a piece because they were so hungry. I think they're starting to branch out and deal with it (different food) now lol.
My brother has two gerbils, Spice and Chewy. They have been living in a 20gallon for three months and when we first got them they lived in something even smaller with a third gerbil (R.I.P Sugar🌈). I have been looking for new cages and I have a quick question to ask- are wood cages suitable? Our gerbils are big chewers so I’m a bit concerned about wood enclosures.
Hi! I love your videos and have seen all your gerbil videos for my research! I am just curious on what language you speak to your gerbils as I would love to learn it x 😊
Is it ok to use colored play sand as bath sand for your gerbils? I just got 2 gerbils a few days ago and i had some colored play sand in the house.Btw i love your channel its really helpful!

Hi, I am a soon-to-be gerbil mum and after watching all your amazing videos have two questions that I would be eternally grateful if you/ anyone could please answer! The gerbils are going to live in my bedroom, can I spray perfume and use my diffuser, or would that be bad for them and unsettle them, potentially leading to a Declan? (I know that foreign smells within the cage can be bad but does it matter if they are outside the cage?) Also, is handling your gerbils too much a thing? I understand that you should let them be for about a week when you get them, and that you should read body language and put them back in their enclosure when they want to and that you shouldn’t grab them and force them to be held, but can you try and bond with them multiple times a day? Thank you so much for reading xxx
Diffusers shouldn’t be used in the room because it will cause respiratory issues and you don’t want your gerbils breathing that in. Perfume on you as long as it is a small spritz, shouldn’t linger in the air, but it would be best to spray it in another room. As for taming, you can interact multiple times a day but try to keep most of the interactions with them still in the enclosure :)
@@finsandwhiskers Thank you so much! Is it ok to hold them and take them out of the enclosure like you do in videos daily? Sorry for all the questions, I’m just trying to learn as much as I can!

If you can make it so that they can’t access the wood it should be fine!
@@finsandwhiskers okay, sounds good! Thank you!
would any hay be fine or would it have to be a specific one.
There are many options! Oat hay, Timothy hay, Orchard Grass hay, and Meadow hay are the most common
What if i used a crappy small cage (not critter trail) for the divider in my bin cage (with the wheel, foods, etc,?)
i wouldn’t recommend using it in my opinion but you can always get a bendy bridge!
Is it okay to not use hay? I want to get a pair of gerbils but my mum is allergic to hay! Is there anything which could substitute hay?
Yeah you don’t have to use hay! Aspen wood shavings work well with paper bedding to help them keep sturdier tunnels

It depends on the size!
