@michellecgb I remember watching my mum and dad dancing. They were really good and loved it when young. I watched them as a teenager though and felt embarrassed. Dad dancing wasn't a phrase used then but now I realise it's the love of dancing, and in fact they looked pretty cool dancing to a bit of mo town!

River: Prince William took the two older kids to the concert for the kids’ sake. Did you see how happy Charlotte was in her rhinestone dress, Swifty uniform? Those kids had to grow up before their time and I am glad that they are having fun now. So please come down your horses. William is just being the most perfect father.
I agree. It could have been William taking the kids to a theme park or anything else fun, for his birthday and to enjoy a fun time with his kids. It happened to be a concert. It was joyous to see.
His Mother Diana did the Exact same things. Which they loved! Like all children do...To make her children more grounded and rounded individuals as they grow up. More relatable and loved by the people, who they will end up working hard for.. service and duty, like all the hard working royals do. They deserve to have great fun times with there family, while they can.
Cannot cacoon them away from the 21st century. We all love the tradition of the royals....it's familiar to us. The royals feel like extended family. They work extremely hard to serve the people and celebrate with us.
William and Harry had plenty photos taken with all kinds of favourite popstars when young. Charlotte, George and William, seem to be huge fans of Taylor Swift, she seems to be very popular? But if that's what made Williams birthday, given all that he's been going through and working extremely hard, with much worry and stress too deal with. Let him enjoy there family time, whatever they love to do in there downtime. He made his children extremely happy with there cute photo and that evening, would of definitely uplifted Catherine in a big way, which she also needs given all the crap she's had to put up with along with fighting cancer and being bullied....
Seeing Zara, Mike, Sophie & Mark being so supportive and loving towards the family, strength in numbers, the family are more united than they've ever been. Even the Beatrice and Eugenie seem united with the King, Catherine and William, giving support.

Dear River, just a gentle reminder that royalty and celebrity have gone hand in hand for generations. Princess Margaret. The young Prince Charles. Our late Queen and the Royal Command performances with the behind the stage meetings. The selfie is a new thing, but photos of royalty with celebrity certainly isn’t.
Exactly! Lovely photos of all the old Hollywood stars with Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip spring to mind not to mention the glamorous balls with the stars of the day in attendance too.

It goes back to day dot, the best royal courts would always collect the most notable artists, whether poets, playwrights, sculptors, painters, inventers, musicians and designers of their day. Back then it was portraits and balls, these days it's selfies and concerts. But the emphasis was still the same, to show association, favouritism, patronage, support, how trendy and in keeping with the times you were. It makes a statement, even ironically as River pointed out...that the Wales's can brag about such close associations, that people like the Harkles's cannot! It also shows how humble the royal family can be, that as important as they are, even THEY still look up to and are in awe of ordinary people who have only their talent, not birthright, to recommend them. Royal courts have always hosted the most popular celebrities, it's nothing new.
All within a week and a day or two, the Wales family have shown the world who they are from the parade ground/ balcony for Trooping the Colour to backstage with Taylor Swift, with two photos taken on a Norfolk beach in between - Father’s Day and Prince William’s birthday. No PR team can manufacture anything remotely like it - especially with an ancient ceremony and Ascot also in the diary!

River my dear. The Taylor Swift concert was a treat for Prince George and Princess Charlotte. I see it as a good father taking out his children for a special time with him. This is not a stain on Royalty, but positive family time.
Yes. Like Diana did with Spice Girls for both William and Harry as young teens then, then P (before King) Charles did for them after Diana's death. Like his parents, as William only being a father treating their kids at Swift concert. I loved seeing the joy on Prince George's and Princess Charlotte's faces ❤. From things that Prince William has said, I think that the children and parents have a lot of fun singing and dancing at home. He said that the children take turns in choosing what song they dance to each morning.

The children were supposed to go with their mother. Now she is sick their father stepping in to take them. Well good. Making memories with your family is important. Dealing with their grandfather and mother being sick, they needed this time to have fun. Taylor swift is very talented and donates a lot to charity. From what I understand she wrote a special message to Princess Catherine because she could not go to the concert. Overall, I think this is a special memory they will have forever.

I understand your opinion regarding the Wales attending the Taylor Swift concert. However I believe the obvious joy it brought Prince George & Princess Charlotte after a rather sad & stressful year, that for them to attend the concert was an ideal decision.
I disagree with you regarding the Taylor Swift group photograph River. William isn’t the King and he was there enjoying a night with his children. It must have been a nice diversion from the stress of Catherine’s health. Diana took such photographs with celebrities and it never diminished her Royal aura.

I think your kids get one childhood, having both parents around is not guaranteed, all three of them will have feared that bring a possibility. Princess Charlotte barely left Princess Catherine's side at Trooping, they need to learn that with privilege comes responsibility, they've shown they've had that down pat for some time, but with that responsibility, comes perks like this and making those connections are good because they will very often help boost something to do with a charity or patronage. Diana and Charles attended loads of concerts, more her thing than his, they were often known to go backstage and have a laugh with the performers, they just didn't take photos and no one had the Internet.

I was in the baby boom era when everything was kicking off - Beatles, Twiggy, Mini skirts, the pill. In hindsight we all thought our era was the best.
Charles loved the Supremes, his boys loved the Spice Girls. (my mother loved Glen Miller). Each generation to its own.
I don't think the issue was going to the concert - it was the selfies with celebrities. Interestingly, I doubt River would have an issue if there were pap pictures ( as there were with the Spice Girls) that went public. At least with the selfies, they have control over the pictures.

I am normally with you about the royals not crossing the celebrity line. But on this occasion I think it was a good thing. No one living with a family member going through cancer therapy can stay unaffected by the worry. So I think this served as a lovely memorable tonic for them, and a rare selfie to look back on fondly. ❤

The children have been in unfamiliar territory with their mother being ill. My God, they needed to bust out and have fun. They will be able to talk about this for years to come. Thank you William for making this such a wonderful fun evening for the kids. BRAVO to you Williams and Taylor.

We all knew that Rachel Markel would be pissed when she saw the picture of prince William George and Charlotte at the Taylor Swift concert... Rachel Markel asked Taylor to be on her podcast and Taylor said NO WAY... Taylor loves prince William and the royal family....
Prince William separates his life of duty and his life as a family man, as he deserves it. He was being a parent, enjoying his time with his kids for his birthday. The kids probably needed it, to distract them for a minute, and to forget that their mother and grandfather have cancer. That word alone (cancer) is scary especially to a child, (and their grandmother died from it) so to have a fun night out is fabulous!!!
Children... need to have some joy after what they have been through with their mom's cancer treatment. George and Charlotte were brilliant at the King's Jubilee. We all need to remember these children are human beings... They always step up for Royal duty... It was wonderful to see their joy at the concert. Just my thoughts
Other than Diana, I may be mistaken, but I believe the Prince and Princess of Wales are the first in their position to be quite so hands-on in rearing their children.. I do get your point, but I find such small, occasional glimpses of family life charming and cheering, and am grateful when they are shared. It's very generous of them, you kno,w, and I think it's very wise.

I love to watch those that do the beautiful hanzi / kanji characters with brushes. I just wish I had a tenth of their artistry.

After twelve years of Catholic School I can verify that #1 We never wrote in that manner….the nuns would have been on her case and #2 That is not calligraphy since my daughter took a course in calligraphy and it never ever looked like what she(Megan) calls it.

Taylor had always had good family values. She’s incredibly close to her parents and brother. She has notably praised her mother for years and seems genuinely thankful and gracious that they overhauled their lives to help her chase her dream. Her mother Andrea also experienced a cancer scare. Which Taylor wrote about in a song. I’m not at all surprised she would swerve someone who had openly been crass in setting aside a good portion of her own family & seems to have been party to her husband doing the same. (Harry’s behavior cannot be excused even if it wasn’t all his doing. It was his job to protect his family, his relationships with his family, and the integrity of who they are, personally and professionally.) I also do not think Taylor would respect someone who portrays herself being charitable “loudly” when Ms. Swift is known to actually be charitable, a great deal of which she does unannounced & does not acknowledge her contributions because I think she uses her success for good. She is good folk. And she does seem to recognize a fugazi. Also- way to go Papa William. Those kids looks so happy and I think it’s precious he is the one taking them. Catherine is hopefully resting & healing and the family is making lemonade out of lemons. I’m sure she was happy to see her children excited and enjoying time with their Dad. They seem like a lovely family.
The Duchess of Dog biscuit is throwing tantrums...lots of broken plates and glasses at Montecito knowing the Prince of Wales and children are enjoying the concert of Taylor Swift. 🤣🤣🤣

River sometimes your view of the Royal Family is very old fashioned. I believe being present at less formal engagements such as Taylor Swift concert is wonderful. It’s a privilege see Prince William and the children so joyful after a brutal few years .
He was just being a father, on his birthday. He deserves to separate his job and family life.
That old fashion way is what people go to see , they are not suppose to be like

I think Edward and Sophie have both aged like fine wine. In some photos when Edward is smiling he looks the most like his mother than his other siblings. But all the Windsors have aged well.
It was lovely to see Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte letting their hair down so to speak. Again what a lovely photo of a dad with his three children on the beach and what completes it is the fact Princess Catherine took it. Precious moments in time captured by those we love. With regards to the Duchess of Dog Biscuits...seems like the only thing she seems to be cooking up is a storm of jealousy by the sounds of it.
These photos show a committed father giving his children a much needed lift. Their world has been full of shadows lately and that context elevates this beyond mere celebrity and into a picture of a childhood preserved and honoured.

When I see the kids and William smiling since their mother's diagnosis, it fills my heart with joy. I can just imagine what they went through with their mother's illness, the chemo days when their mother is feeling tired, is vomiting, and irritable. While I'm sure they have nannies to distract them, take them for walks on their mom's bad days, I doubt if there are enough walks they can take to distract them from their reality. Before their mother's diagnosis, maybe I would let your comment about their actions go. No River, there is nothing vulgar about their actions here. I strongly object to you saying that even in its smallest measure.
