    About S.W.A.T.: Inspired by the television series and the feature film, S.W.A.T. stars Shemar Moore as a locally born and raised S.W.A.T. sergeant newly tasked to run a specialized tactical unit that is the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles. Torn between loyalty to where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, former Marine Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson has everything it takes to be an excellent leader and to bridge the divide between his two worlds. Hondo’s elite unit includes David “Deacon” Kay, an experienced S.W.A.T. officer who always puts the team first, despite feeling overlooked for the lead job; Christina “Chris” Alonso, a skilled officer and the team’s canine trainer; Dominique Luca, an expert driver who gets them in and out of high-risk situations; Victor Tan, who started in the LAPD Hollywood Division and uses his confidential informants in the community to help the team; and Jim Street, a cocky and promising new team member who is fired when his troubled family life leads him to compromise his role within the unit. Responsible for the management of all Metro Division S.W.A.T. units is Commander Robert Hicks, a senior LAPD official with the Special Operations Bureau. Overseeing Hondo’s team is Hicks’ direct report, Jessica Cortez, the ambitious captain of L.A. Metro whose professional aspirations force her to end an off-the-books relationship with Hondo. Hondo’s team enjoys an intense rivalry with another L.A.-based unit led by Jeff Mumford, an aggressive leader who likes to do things his way. With Hondo leading the charge, these dedicated men and women bravely put themselves at risk to protect their community and save lives. Starring: Shemar Moore, Stephanie Sigman, Jay Harrington, Alex Russell, Lina Esco, Kenny Johnson, Peter Onorati

I would have liked to see it played out under the assumption that he was just a surveillant. Receive the ticket, then identify himself. That would have been grounds for termination of that officer on the spot for demonstrating an act of racism and irrational conduct. Hondo was simply trying to prove a point and show the reality of what's happening in our society today, but his girl spoke too fast and identified him as sergeant. This true story about four black men went into a Denny's restaurant outside of Washington, DC and when they were ready to order, they were they have to pay first before they can get their food. That restaurant didn't realize those four men were part of then-President Clinton's Secret Service detail. The DOJ started investigating and found out most of Denny's throughout the country had a practice of making black customers pay before their meals were served, but white customers can pay at the register. Why? "We had too many black people, usually the young kids, walk out before paying, so we were asking our wait staff to have them pay first before their meals." The Justice Department came down hard and made Denny's pay a hefty fine and retrain their management and staff as part of their agreement.

    This happened recently in the Philippines. One of my brother in laws was pulled over by a police officer (my wife was visiting there) and of course asked to see his identification. He handed it over and the cop saw the last name on it, and asked if he was related to General Azurin the newly promoted PNP (Philippine National Police) Chief. His reply, yes he's my brother. My wife said the cop turned very pale and let them go.

    First, as a passenger she did not have to identify for a traffic stop. He did not have to identify if it was a bogus stop, and could have and should have requested a supervisor on scene before presenting ID. Finally traffic stops may not be extended beyond 20 minutes without probable cause. Summoning the drug dog is not sufficient. As a cop he would or should have known these rights encoded in law.

      Actually in most states the officer can request the passenger to ID themselves, as during a traffic stop the officer has jurisdiction over the entire car not just the driver. Other then that you are correct hondo should have requested a supervisor before identifying himself

    • @claroschmidt9304
      @claroschmidt9304 Рік тому +3

      Driver doesn't get to determine if a stop is bogus, but he must identify himself. An aggressive lane change SOUNDS bogus, but it COULD be an improper lane change dependent on the circumstances. The LE should be able to explain the violation if requested to, but does not need to. Also, if you asked me for a supervisor and the stop was lawful, I'd tell you to take a trip down to the station and request a supervisor. Also, you don't need PC to extend a traffic stop. Reasonable suspicion alone is all you need to conduct a traffic stop investigation. Investigating fraudulent tags alone can take north of 30 minutes for a somewhat new officer with sufficient resources. Even longer for an officer with access to basic resources.
