- Elizabeth Palmer travels to Ireland for an at-home visit with one of the world's most provocative singer-songwriters, who talks about her latest album, "Unrepentant Geraldines," and of being a mother.
One of the most talented humans ever.
Very true 💯
And most beloved. At least of Gen-X.
Nah
ever
I thought you quit smoking?
There are no words to express how much this woman and her ART means to me. She literally made me a more peaceful and healthier man.
same
Lolz
The suckling pig photo is by far my absolute favorite photo of Tori. It's pure art.
***** You said it. totally agree with you.
It's funny because, perhaps if it was a cow calf maybe people wouldn't have been so outraged and it would have been a Vegan's advertising dream, as we of course suckle the milk from a cows mother without a thought about it in our mind!
She said once that the photo was specifically symbolic of nursing and nurturing that which is not considered kosher. Hence the pig. Also the obvious reference to the holy mother and child.
i have a poster of it :)
That tour occurred during my senior year of high school, and Tori gave a concert in my home town. More than a few fellow students attended and assured me she put on an amazing show (wish I had been there!!) One of my classmates purchased her t-shirt bearing the pig suckling image to school the next day. He nearly got himself into trouble before the teacher made him turn it inside out.
She's the coolest. I've made plans to have one of her songs played at my funeral.
Which one? I don’t really want a funeral, but if there were one, I’d definitely pick “Happy Phantom”!
I can't tell you how much your art has touched me. Has changed my path. Thank You so much, Tori Amos.
I really had no idea how intellectual connected and realistic she is. Its refreshing to hear someone speaking that knows how to make the statement, clearly and does so very beautifully.
Rock on Tori, show em how women over fifty are still vital and have so much more to say about everything.Keep speaking your truth because we need to hear it.
Tori is amazing, and just as talented and beautiful as ever at 50.
That's a lie and you know it.
Back under your bridge, troll! Tori is more beautiful; both inside and out, than you will ever be. And learn how to spell "That".
@@DoctorPretorious616 damn don't get mad at truth .
@@Wally-pu2hh And just what have YOU done that was so great?
I was going to say "More so." She's definitely fine, fine wine. Gorgeous creature. 💋
I love her forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cant believe she is 50. soooo Beautiful she is.
I'm turning 50 in a little over a week, it was great to see this again. Love it.
I love her SO much. I’ve been a fan for about 20 years or so now. She has true, true talent- in her piano playing, singing and her songwriting. I’m not gonna name names, but with the music of today it’s SO rare to find this kind of depth and artistry.
Give it up for Tori's courage and honesty. Long may she reign.
Had the pleasure of meeting her 2 different times , once with Little Earthquakes and then Scarlets Walk .. still a warm genuine soul .. 💛
Seeing her in concert when I was younger was amazing. I have never heard anybody since that remotely comes close to her sound. She is definitely a one of a kind.
I wish we had more humans with as much courage and honesty as Tori and that includes other so called artists as well, there are not enough human beings with as much courage as she has.
Omg Tor’s daughter is stunning! Just love Tori’s music!! Loved seeing her perform live at Beacon Theatre last week! Amazing concert and artist! ☺️👍👏💃🏿🎹🎼🌈
Wow I discover Tori around 1998, changed my life
You didn't have much of a life prior to that then. I didn't even say such things when I was 14 and discovered a good album.
@@paulallen8109 Tori Amos' songs can truly be life changing. it doesn't matter if you '' had a life '' before or not. it's called a breaktrough or an epiphany. personnally i had a wonderful experience with one of her songs, (among others), Winter.
it came back in my mind while i was mourning, still mourning the lost of my grandfather, and suddenly i was free. this song has set me free in the most beautiful way. i cried tears of joy. this moment was pure magic. just pure bliss. it's the song and what came around with it. the trigger that brought the song and made me sing it aloud, for myself. it was exactly as if my grandfather was singing it through me. it was bliss.
it made me believe in magic. so it changed my life, yes !
(btw, i was 27.)
She’s living in the perfect place. One the most beautiful breathtaking countries on the planet. And she is just so graceful. I could listen to her speak all day long.
Her daughter has a beautiful voice.
My alarm is set to wake me up every morning to a Tori Amos playlist, and I start the day with a calmness.
I have loved Tori ever since Little earth quakes came out and here video was first released on MTV Silent all these years was like her break out video. Had a chance to meet her many years ago at a concert she was/is a very big kind hearted woman and she would talk to you like you was an old friend at least she did with me then . I so wanted to marry her back then. and that is when my love of redheads bloomed 18years after that night I married my wife of the last 12 years.
I really love this lady.... a mirror and voice of my secret soul....
Her daughter has her mother's beautiful eyes. Carry on Tori carry on (by the way you are lucky to live in such a beautiful country - Ireland)
I've bought boys for pele cd 3 times. I lost it twice.
Got stolen twice morelike.
I own three copies: original 1996 CD, reissue expanded version CD, Vinyl issue
@@the92project I see you again! I see we have the same taste in music AIC and Tori
@@rumblefish9
Dude, Tori has more metal cred than 90 percent of bands out there.
Same, although I think my first copy was stolen.
Loved the interview, but wished they got all the facts right, and that it was longer and in more depth. Tori Amos the Goddess has returned to us, with UG and this fabulous tour.
MySensualWorld is it EVER enough for us, though?
She’s so amazing. A treasure.
Just a couple corrections. Tash was on Night of Hunters before Unrepentant Geraldines. And it has not been 33 years since 1991!
+Stiggy333 Yeah, not sure how that math works out...
Little known band she was in
Y can't tori read 1986-88 then went solo in 90 But she started at 17 doing demo tapes
And on Midwinter Graces before Night of Hunters. ;-)
Big fan of hers since the early 80's. A phenomenal entertainer. There will never be another like her.
Excellent video! I just wish it was longer.
There are great minds, incredible authors, directors narrators, out of all the unbelievable talents that I have been lucky enough to hear witness or read of, tori Amos has given me light in this amazing existence. So pure and an amazing mind and spirit.
Still one of my favorite interviews with her. 😍
Tori and her daughter making a album (cd) fantastic
50/50 = 100/100 💯💯💯 Keys House 🏠 Mama Diva Queen 👑👑👑🎹🎹🎹
I WANT MORE!!!!! PLEEEEAAAASE!
she is gorgeous!❤❤
Thank you for helping Monroe and Helen
Just a number, amazing as ever.
I have been following Tori most of my adult life. I only have seen her in person perhaps 4 times. Three times in Boston and once at UNH. I love the music and lyrics.
I will always love and respect this wonderful person! I only regret I didn't discover her earlier than I did.
She’s bloody brilliant, love my queen 👑
Great interview, and great live clips of her doing Pancake and Parasol, I wanted to see more.
great interview!!!!
she's such a great artist!
You may say the same about AC/DC - even though they're a no-nonsense three chord rock band who have been doing the same schtick for four decades now. People love them.
More please!!!!!!!!
Love this woman !
Great artist. Been a fan since her first album.
Oh!! Living in a beautiful old house in the Irish country side. She's living my dream. 🌻💚
An original..never be another Tori. Every female artist that came after her owes her so much for swinging that door wide open and taking the male dominated record industry to task over their practices and inability to see what women bring to the industry. Go girl, go!!
She is an amazing artist
Tori is a legend
Love her so much..
She's brilliant. Rockville MD !
Honesty. And beauty. Those two words are Tori Amos.
awesome!!!!
gonna see her live for the first time in September... Was a huge fan in the 90's but kinda lost track of her after Boys For Pele..
I'm excited though. She always seems like a wonderful down to earth person with a fun sense of humor.
Me too. Traveling to Munich from US with my daughter to see my first Tori Amos concert and Oktoberfest.
Beautiful......
Wonderful
Love that she comes to me homeland. Wonder if she has ever visited Inisheer.
Love Tori!
5:02 boom for the interviewer. she almost cried. watch it again. that's why tori amos is brave and inspiring and so powerful emotionally. she isn't afraid to deal with those dark emotions, she actually ..i don't know what she does. but she does it :)
i still felt in love with tori even she's 50
That interviewer expected Tori to say "yes" when she asked her if she regretted that pig photo, but Tori DOUBLED-DOWN, looked her straight in the eye, and said "NO, I don't". You can tell from the way she asked the question that she was being judgemental, but Tori correctly shut her down.
Magical
I became a fan was this Asian guy at Denny’s when we used to kick it at Denny’s back in the day kept talking about Tori Amos and I knew about her I’ve heard some songs I thought she was good but never look too deep into it. He freaking burnt me every song she ever had and he just said just listen I’ve never been the same sense
she is still so pretty
wow.. I can't even believe it.. but i also can't believe Im 45.. uuuggghh.. shes' amazing..
Neelia Janiskennedy old?❤
She's almost 60 now! damn!!!!
I’ve only seen Tori Perform live once, it was for a morning radio show she was promoting the boys for Pele album- Breakfast with Tori Amos . I was expecting pancakes but it turned out to be just coffee , Orange juice and bagels. It was at the house of blues broadcast live. There was off some off the air segments where I got the feeling she wasn’t a morning person, as she seemed a bit combative or defensive w some of the fans questions. All in all she’s still a talent. When all this Covid is check ... I’m planning to see her live again.
her mums a rockstar and a goddess. the pressure must be insane.
"...featured for the first time on the new album in a duet with her mom" First time? Really? Midwinter Graces? Night of Hunters? Do any of them ring a bell? Hm.
Badass Legend
Fun little tid-bit .. Tori Amos and Cyndi Lauper duet on a song called "Why don't you love me" from the Imelda Marcos concept album by David Byrne. Great tune that radio ignored.
Mastered
Challenging to see the title "Alternative rock's wild child turns 50" and then look below and see... oh... that was uploaded 8 1/2 years ago.
would be nice with closed captions
So gorgeous...
"Do you regret now that you did it?" Why would she? This poor interviewer is pretty uninformed :(
and there you have the interviewer trying to shame her for it.
" Rock on, Mom. "
Most women get suckled by a pig at one time or another... It's one of the great tragedies of life. X
@@shanelevene4864 or it could be a learning experience? For both? Perhaps some of those suckled pigs leach a little humanity, or learn some gratitude. Perhaps some of those who allow it or are led to it learn to say no or to differentiate greedy piggies from grateful partners.
In this case I think interviewer was looking for an answer that'd suit her own middle-of-road sensibilities? Daft line of questioning though I agree. I dunno much about Tori Amos other than she was around at a similar time as Nirvana, she was a good singer/songwriter + that she was always a pretty fearless artist! Had her own fashion sense/style too. Still looks amazing at 50. Can still perform too!
04:24 correct me if I'm wrong, but that very same street was a setting for Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, right?
can anyone enlighten me as to where it is in London, exactly?
Southwark. The address is Park Street, SE1 9AB.
What song is this at 3:13?
“unrepentant geraldines!”
You already had them Clarence
She just gets more beautiful
"Rock on Mom!"
🤘
"Grand Dad must have quite the day when he saw that one." I'll bet he did! lol
You manage Brat time 😜
I go with Tori be have or times 🤠 out
She was one great singer. We all grow old. I think the goal for us all is that we grow old with dignity. I wonder if Tori is growing old with dignity or if she is simply growing old. Makes me wonder if she was ever about dignity or if she was simply whining about being a female.
I gave to you long ago, but love 😘 you
Tori is the real deal. Real music from the heart, not some skimpy pop puppet twerking in a bikini for the cameras.
Her dad must have been quite a character too!
61 now
I saw her on her 50th birthday.
Tore is just alright , with me? 🕊️🌬️🌹
Tori has been in great interviews through this years... but most of the times the interviewers were totally engaged.
Unfortunately, it is not the case of this lady here...
"...her mega-hit 'Crucify' in 1991." lol
Winter
She’ll be 60 next year!!!
Tori likes to write on the Emerald 🍀 Isle = Ireland 🇮🇪 is under the sign of Gemini ♊️ = , lots of air , ideas & words - come quickly 🙃
Us backwards marshmallows Wild people
Saw tori 5th row at the fox in Atlanta when she set it on fire
Gaga looks Wow Wowsers
Does Tori Amos wear glasses?
