The value is out of this world. Think about it. You buy a game on PC you wanna play that game on handheld? What are you gonna use a switch? That means you have to buy the game again. This is amazing now you have a whole other platform to play game on that you already own. No one else does this!
The deck works for me as I play JRPGs mostly. And some triple A. I already have a decent pc too so I usually do triple A there for max graphics and deck for when at work.

The fact the steam deck uses linux is a giant feature for me, the customizability and community support has been great and has coincidentally vastly improved the gaming on linux at the same time.
I have never felt so good about a purchase in my life… I stopped playing games in 2022 when I went to the army, then after 8 months when I finished I just couldn’t get back into gaming due to lack of interest or work. I picked up the Oled with anti glare in May and it has totally gotten me back into gaming, I’ve spent 1000 dollars on games since then, I’ve got a 1tb and 500gb sd card and they work perfectly, I have not run into any issues with them so far, I even spent 200-300 dollars on accessories like power bank, charger holder, sd holder, power bank mount etc. I love this deck so much, the anti glare is perfect for playing outside or on the go. I have it with me everywhere, even when I don’t expect to use it, just because it’s so convenient that I might aswell take it.
Now that the first games introduced FSR 3.1 with Frame Generation I have good hopes that the Deck will become even better over time. Best piece of tech I’ve ever purchased

I've had all the major windows handhelds and recently went back to the Steam Deck with the OLED model. I must say the improvements to Steam OS and that screen make it my favorite handheld purchase by far.

I just found out about them like within a few days of the oled coming out, so bought the 1tb oled, got a custom message saying " congratulations, you've received one of the first units produced" and that first time turning it on was the one and only time you get that notification
I call mine a switch or a switch deck all the time too. I also call my wives Switch the same. I don’t care anymore at all, it’s the Switch Deck now for every handheld now lol.
I love the steam deck. I also have dock now for it, so now i can also play it at home on my TV like a switch. It just works so perfectly. The support they keep on giving the thing is also so great.
Another reason Valve is able to sell the Steam Deck so cheap is the fact that it uses a Linux OS out of the box. If it was Windows, they would have to include the cost of a Windows license, which would put the price a lot closer to the ROG Ally.
@hugocidr A USED license is actually Around 25 dollars for Windows 11 and 20 Dollars for Windows 10. Again, they're used. To get a new code from Windows, it'll cost you more than 100 dollars.
Most of Decks are sold directly from Steam so they don't have to deal with retailers except in Japan. Bestbuy gets some of the profit selling Ally and Legion Go.
Another reason for linux: customizability (on both Valve's end & the end-user). Valve can tailor the steam deck's distro exactly to their needs, creating a much better out-of-the-box, because linux is open-source.
Can't wait for the SD2! Even if they stick to the 4C/8T + 8CU design, with Zen6 and RDNA5 it would still be a juicy upgrade and probably outperform the og SD at 5-6W.
I feel like I may do like I do with graphic cards and skip a generation or two on Steam deck. As long as my original Steam deck still works just like my 1070 TI still worked fine even after the 30 series Nvidia cards came out but I waited until November 2020 to upgrade that card there would have to be quite a few games that I ultimately want to play portably to feel like buying a new device.

Like in ps3 era games were incredibly good optimised, now we have fsr3 and dlss. Look how there are lots of people that dont even want 4k and stick with 1080/1440p. Audience laughs at Apple for minor improvements, but this is the new reality. I just hope producents will focus on portability and battery life. I love my iphone 13 mini and I want it back instead of new pluses.
I sold my steam deck oled and got the lenovo legion go and im kinda regretting it. The battery life is $hit, there are bugs everywhere, the display is beautiful but in most new aaa games the resolution needs to be dropped to the steam decks resolution to get solid fps.
I have the steam deck Oled and might actually sell it for the rog ally x. Getting it from Bestbuy I don’t have to deal with RMA issues either, just walk in a grab a new one. I miss being able to have my other libraries, game pass, epic, gog and steam all in one. I miss the 16:9 aspect ratio as a lot of games don’t support 16:10. The ally x is damn good and I still support steam through my massive library of games. Windows has its quirks but seriously I was never in windows aside from initial set up. I wouldn’t touch a lcd steam deck.

If all you use the deck for is indies, emulators and games not graphically demanding it’s a gem. But I think the Ally x is the one that just does it better because most people with pc have games in more than one place. People over exaggerate (especially fan the deck boys) windows being so complicated on a handheld it’s really not. Literally download launcher download game and play lol. You never have to go into windows after initial set up and uninstalling any bloatware. I have the deck Oled and will be getting my ally x from Best Buy. 16:9 vrr 1080p ftw. 🙌
I run a modded version of Skyrim on the deck,I modded it on my old laptop then just transferred it over to the steam deck and renamed skse launcher to Skyrim se like the original Skyrim launcher so steam launches skse instead of Skyrim normal launcher
The current state of AAA gaming was starting to burn me out, but the Steam Deck made me love video games again. There’s so many amazing games to play, from emulated retro classics to a huge selection of stuff in the Steam store.

one of gorgeous things of Steam is support that actually helps you (or tries and responds with possible solutions), unlike crap such as microsoft support, and also mere fact that stuff as when people bought Deck close prior to sale that was at one point, you could retrospectively request getting value of discount back on steam valet, it also comes in package inside its case, which saves packaging materials and also makes it arrive safer, since case is quite sturdy, I dont know how other such products are delivered when they come with case, so I cant say how common practice that is, but damn, I love that thing by all means, it has its flaws, like it sometimes dont want to communicate with keyboard and TV I have plugged to it, but never any critical issue so far I would say, and i got first (LCD) model, even if top tier, also fact that all models they got so far have effectively same performance is nice, not any annoying "this is just bit better for bit more money, come on, come on" tactic, basically only difference was memory and some smaller things as keyboard skins as bonus to better models
I ended up picking up Forza Horizon 4 from the sale based on you last video's glowing review, and I was incredibly surprised at how much I love it. I am not a big racing guy, and initially got the standard edition. After 1.8 hours, I had to request a refund so I could grab the Ultimate edition instead! Great game on Deck. Silly that they got rid of the upgrade option.
The Vortex update is fantastic news, that means that we should be able to download the collections and have a massive modload in no time at all. A stark difference from the weekend I spend setting up my modded Skyrim experience with MO2.

I don't think Valve sells the SD at loss, they have to pay for CPU development to AMD and all the shipping fees, I believe they won a negligible revenue
Bruh, yeah, the fact that Vavle makes Deck and it's the same vendor which makes Steam is huge, but also they've invested a ton of money and time to create a thing, which most PC gamers don't think about - Console Experience!! It means, that if you see green badge on the game, you just hit download and then just play! No manuall installation steps, no need to go to some folders and make configuarion, (mostly) no need to experiment for optimal settings for your device! (it's lac MacBooks - they have robust OS with tight hardware integration - with all up and downsides associated with it, but handheld consoles are not essential devices - you don't want to waste too much time tinkering with it, but if you want- you have every opportunity to do so) That's why everyone else bites the dust when it comes to ease of use. Everyone else uses Windows.... And everyone has theiir small homebrew launcher to mitigate this (imo - halfmeasures). It can only appeap to "true gamers", who need the same experience as they have within their Desktop environment... But, let's face the reality - such gamers rarely need another gaming device which is vastly impervious to their desktop setup resource wize. But you can carry it with you!!!... Nah, thanks! Also Proton often is more efficient and more performant (if no proprietary shenanigans involved).
OhNoItsAlex was a GREAT shout out. I found him when I got my deck a couple months ago to get emulators and man the fact I was able to have all the classic Pokémon games on there makes the deck so fun

Got a low-end LCD before the OLED was announced and released. Bought a 1TB NvMe as it was cheaper to upgrade than buying the top end LCD model. Have used it pretty much everyday since having it (great to keep me busy at work during downtimes) and have had a blast with it.
I bought a steamdeck for PlayStation exclusives on the go. If Sony made another handheld it would have been different… but I’m sort of glad they didn’t. What a great experience on the deck
Another faction the steam decks market dominance is that they paired with fix it for repair parts and guides. This may not be a factor for everyone but to me having easy access to OEM parts and being so right to repair friendly is a big deal to me.
Wanted to own a Steam Deck for a while but for now, at least got into Linux because of em. Thank you Steam for bringing Linux on the table for more people. When Microsoft announced Recall, I started distrohopping, now settled on Arch, which Steam Deck is based on. W11 really slowed down my laptop. Linux gaming is considerably better than the pre-Steam Deck era imo
Jimmy, you mentioned the AYN Odin at the start and I really think you should get an Odin 2 or the Odin 2 mini. I have the Odin 2 regular and not only is it an emulation power house, but for streaming using Steam Link or Moonlight (even using apps to stream PS5 and xbox) it's really great. Not only is the device comfortable, not too heavy, and has a decent screen size, but the battery life is SOOOOO good. Truly a great companion to consoles and pc, even a good companion to the Steam Deck.
The value of the sd isnt too different from competitors. I think the difference is steamos, which trades some of the compatibility and modding flexibility of windows for most of the simplicity and polish of a console. Luckily, the low end cpu is kept afloat longer by indie gaming.
I got an OLED like 2 weeks ago, and I'm playing through Persona 3 reload and FFXIV Dawntrail, and I gotta say that I am very surprised by how good everything looks and plays. It's amazing
The new Nexus Mods App is developed by a team that is made up of various modders and programmers from the modding community that worked on a number of existing tools. Including MO2. But the difference now is that they can work on it as a fulltime job.
@@eziothedeadpoet Do you mean Vortex? Sure doesn't feel like it then. Every time I have used it, I have been frustrated by how convoluted and at times, how slow it is. MO2 for its main games, just works. For other games they tend to have their own mod managers that are purpose built. Most Unity based games use Thunderstore for mods and out of the Thunderstore managers, Gale Mod Manager is probably the best one especially if you are doing a lot of mods
For me, any Windows device is a lottery when it comes to sleep mode. I know a lot of work has been done on this, but Windows has never nailed it and, at this point, I can't see how they ever will. I received a new laptop for work with the latest generation of SoC and I still have no idea whether I will have a charge in the battery when I take it out of the bag, whether there will have been a reboot, whether the machine will wake properly, or whether the display will activate even if it does wake. I don't own an SD-like Windows machine anymore, but I heavily suspect that these problems will endure. The SD sleep mode has been essentially perfect for me. The battery does deplete, but it is always predictable and a much slower process in general. Sleep mode has made it far more likely that I will play certain games.
I'm a father and a PC gamer. Steamdeck has become a necessity for gamer like me. I dont have to be in front of my PC all the time to enjoy my steam games. Most games runs natively on steamdeck without any issue. But when a game which is too much to handle for steam deck, i.e MFS2020, i Moonlight remote stream it from my couch or late night on bed. Its PC2 we all wanted!
I'm gonna be honest, I don't think the tech for handheld PCs is quite there yet. I plan on getting one eventually but for now I'm gonna hold off. Maybe in another couple of generations the handheld market will have completely ironed out the bugs and improved the power to price ratio and will actually make more sense then.
I bought the 64g on sale and bought a $100 1tb. For under $400 (before tax) i think its totally worth it even if you dont get the oled model. Still $250 cheapest that the cheapest oled.
I still don't play as much as I'd like (damn choice paralysis) but I sure don't regret one cent spent on my SD: this machine is incredible and more than that: Steam rocks when it comes to support. They do the extra thousand miles. While I'm happy to see more competition, I know that no other company provides the same support (and allows users to customize their gear, with guides on how to do it, day one partnerships with ifixit and other third parties). So right now, the only thing I'm really waiting for is: New steam controllers. Then maybe in a year or two a new upgraded SD with better everything inside ? I would definitely pay for that. I don't really think that the main selling factor of the Deck is Steam itself, seeing as you essentially can install a Steam Client anywhere, but rather getting getting an affordable well working package with likely long time support. It's probably also the reason Steam hasn't introduced a more powerful device already; As Nintendo keeps demonstrating, its not about raw power, but what experience you can get from a device at the end of the day. So buying a console you know you can enjoy for years on end, might actually be the most compelling aspect.
It’s really easy to judge the success of a product, I always ask myself “would I buy a steam deck 2” the answer is in a heartbeat. I have an ally and deck but I can’t say the same for the ally… I would absolutely have to wait for reviews of an ally 2, I would have to seriously consider if I want to give my money to Asus, but with the steam deck 2 I would be first in line. Says a lot to me honestly, the confidence I have in valve not messing up is incredibly high thanks to their track record.
What's happening with mods on the Steam Deck is really exciting. All of this infrastructure should be in place by the time that a Linux build of the desktop OS is ready for it's debut.
I just bought the 1TB OLED SD and dock. Trying to buy about 30 games now, and Valve won't approve my purchase. Really aggravating. Hope my support ticket comes through and I can buy my games before the 72 hour cart lock expires.
My deck OLED with HDR games are better than any monitor I ownnnnn 😂 so recently I was playing hellblade 1 and HDR was better than seeing it in 4K since HDR is so good in that game
THe only down side (big time) of steam deck IMO is that when you try to play docked on TV the quality SUCKS so much, cause the console can't push good grafics. I had to play the same game (baldurs gate) on my XBOX (donthave PC) cause it really sucks to play it on the TV with steam deck

I was really torn on what handheld to buy and I think this video helped me out. I've watched multiple videos on the comparisons between the Rog alley extream vs lenovo go vs steam deck oled and i think im going steam deck oled. Yeah the Rog Alley is great but it has its issues and the sd card issue putbit as a no go. The x is coming out but its gonna be 799+ and thats too much in my opinion. They say they are going to fix the issues from the past but ill wait to seebif someone tests that.
Without watching the video, I’m going to guess why the SteamDeck is so successful. Take a game that runs on both your favorite console, and is available in Steam on the SteamDeck. Boot the game on the console. Time how long it takes to get to actual game play. Repeat the process on the SteamDeck. The MAIN job a console has… is done FASTER by the SteamDeck. Console is stuck in front of a TV, SteamDeck is portable. I can run full versions of a game and (in some cases) at higher resolution on a SteamDeck, even while plugged in to a TV. The SteamDeck has a larger game library than ALL consoles… put together. SteamDeck is less expensive. How did I do?

I wanted to get a certified refurbished Deck but it is very difficult to get on unsupported countries it is a great value but it has it's problems getting it outside the US
I got my steam deck (new) in China, was $350 for the LCD 2 years ago. The new OLED 512gb goes for $450 now in China. If you live in Asia I'd suggest you try get one from there.

I sold my steam deck oled and got the lenovo legion go and im kinda regretting it. The battery life is $hit, there are bugs everywhere, the display is beautiful but in most new aaa games the resolution needs to be dropped to the steam decks resolution to get solid fps.
I have the steam deck Oled and might actually sell it for the rog ally x. Getting it from Bestbuy I don’t have to deal with RMA issues either, just walk in a grab a new one. I miss being able to have my other libraries, game pass, epic, gog and steam all in one. I miss the 16:9 aspect ratio as a lot of games don’t support 16:10. The ally x is damn good and I still support steam through my massive library of games. Windows has its quirks but seriously I was never in windows aside from initial set up. I wouldn’t touch a lcd steam deck.

@@deusprogrammer_thekingofspace facts. The steam deck is definitely nice. It reminds me of what the switch should’ve been, however it stops there. If all you use the deck for is indies, emulators and games not graphically demanding it’s a gem. But I think the Ally x is the one that just does it better because most people with pc have games in more than one place. People over exaggerate (especially fan the deck boys) windows being so complicated on a handheld it’s really not. Literally download launcher download game and play lol. You never have to go into windows after initial set up and uninstalling any bloatware. I have the deck Oled and will be getting my ally x from Best Buy. 16:9 vrr 1080p ftw. 🙌

I run a modded version of Skyrim on the deck,I modded it on my old laptop then just transferred it over to the steam deck and renamed skse launcher to Skyrim se like the original Skyrim launcher so steam launches skse instead of Skyrim normal launcher

The current state of AAA gaming was starting to burn me out, but the Steam Deck made me love video games again. There’s so many amazing games to play, from emulated retro classics to a huge selection of stuff in the Steam store.

I was always for console gaming and now, with the Oled model, I get great visuals, console experience and great Steam deals.
i have a huge backlog on my steam deck to play but i will still snatch up some more from the summer sale without a doubt
one of gorgeous things of Steam is support that actually helps you (or tries and responds with possible solutions), unlike crap such as microsoft support, and also mere fact that stuff as when people bought Deck close prior to sale that was at one point, you could retrospectively request getting value of discount back on steam valet, it also comes in package inside its case, which saves packaging materials and also makes it arrive safer, since case is quite sturdy, I dont know how other such products are delivered when they come with case, so I cant say how common practice that is, but damn, I love that thing by all means, it has its flaws, like it sometimes dont want to communicate with keyboard and TV I have plugged to it, but never any critical issue so far I would say, and i got first (LCD) model, even if top tier, also fact that all models they got so far have effectively same performance is nice, not any annoying "this is just bit better for bit more money, come on, come on" tactic, basically only difference was memory and some smaller things as keyboard skins as bonus to better models

I ended up picking up Forza Horizon 4 from the sale based on you last video's glowing review, and I was incredibly surprised at how much I love it. I am not a big racing guy, and initially got the standard edition. After 1.8 hours, I had to request a refund so I could grab the Ultimate edition instead! Great game on Deck. Silly that they got rid of the upgrade option.
The Vortex update is fantastic news, that means that we should be able to download the collections and have a massive modload in no time at all. A stark difference from the weekend I spend setting up my modded Skyrim experience with MO2.
In the last two years, I’ve never showed so many dudes my deck. Even random people asking about my deck. Let people play with it etc… absolutely love my deck.
I don't think Valve sells the SD at loss, they have to pay for CPU development to AMD and all the shipping fees, I believe they won a negligible revenue

Bruh, yeah, the fact that Vavle makes Deck and it's the same vendor which makes Steam is huge, but also they've invested a ton of money and time to create a thing, which most PC gamers don't think about - Console Experience!! It means, that if you see green badge on the game, you just hit download and then just play! No manuall installation steps, no need to go to some folders and make configuarion, (mostly) no need to experiment for optimal settings for your device!
(it's lac MacBooks - they have robust OS with tight hardware integration - with all up and downsides associated with it, but handheld consoles are not essential devices - you don't want to waste too much time tinkering with it, but if you want- you have every opportunity to do so)
That's why everyone else bites the dust when it comes to ease of use. Everyone else uses Windows.... And everyone has theiir small homebrew launcher to mitigate this (imo - halfmeasures).
It can only appeap to "true gamers", who need the same experience as they have within their Desktop environment... But, let's face the reality - such gamers rarely need another gaming device which is vastly impervious to their desktop setup resource wize. But you can carry it with you!!!... Nah, thanks!
Also Proton often is more efficient and more performant (if no proprietary shenanigans involved).
OhNoItsAlex was a GREAT shout out. I found him when I got my deck a couple months ago to get emulators and man the fact I was able to have all the classic Pokémon games on there makes the deck so fun
hah yeah the first thing I did on my deck was playing through Pokemon yellow, red, gold and crystal.
I bought mine last week and my god is it amazing to have as a handheld, especially for someone that already has so many games in their Steam library.

Got a low-end LCD before the OLED was announced and released. Bought a 1TB NvMe as it was cheaper to upgrade than buying the top end LCD model.
Have used it pretty much everyday since having it (great to keep me busy at work during downtimes) and have had a blast with it.
Yes, there is a reason they are phasing out the 64gb version, everyone just got it and upgraded the internal storage themselves.

Another faction the steam decks market dominance is that they paired with fix it for repair parts and guides. This may not be a factor for everyone but to me having easy access to OEM parts and being so right to repair friendly is a big deal to me.
Wanted to own a Steam Deck for a while but for now, at least got into Linux because of em. Thank you Steam for bringing Linux on the table for more people. When Microsoft announced Recall, I started distrohopping, now settled on Arch, which Steam Deck is based on. W11 really slowed down my laptop. Linux gaming is considerably better than the pre-Steam Deck era imo

Jimmy, you mentioned the AYN Odin at the start and I really think you should get an Odin 2 or the Odin 2 mini. I have the Odin 2 regular and not only is it an emulation power house, but for streaming using Steam Link or Moonlight (even using apps to stream PS5 and xbox) it's really great. Not only is the device comfortable, not too heavy, and has a decent screen size, but the battery life is SOOOOO good. Truly a great companion to consoles and pc, even a good companion to the Steam Deck.
The value of the sd isnt too different from competitors. I think the difference is steamos, which trades some of the compatibility and modding flexibility of windows for most of the simplicity and polish of a console. Luckily, the low end cpu is kept afloat longer by indie gaming.
I got an OLED like 2 weeks ago, and I'm playing through Persona 3 reload and FFXIV Dawntrail, and I gotta say that I am very surprised by how good everything looks and plays. It's amazing

The new Nexus Mods App is developed by a team that is made up of various modders and programmers from the modding community that worked on a number of existing tools. Including MO2. But the difference now is that they can work on it as a fulltime job.

Sure doesn't feel like it then. Every time I have used it, I have been frustrated by how convoluted and at times, how slow it is.
MO2 for its main games, just works. For other games they tend to have their own mod managers that are purpose built. Most Unity based games use Thunderstore for mods and out of the Thunderstore managers, Gale Mod Manager is probably the best one especially if you are doing a lot of mods

For me, any Windows device is a lottery when it comes to sleep mode. I know a lot of work has been done on this, but Windows has never nailed it and, at this point, I can't see how they ever will. I received a new laptop for work with the latest generation of SoC and I still have no idea whether I will have a charge in the battery when I take it out of the bag, whether there will have been a reboot, whether the machine will wake properly, or whether the display will activate even if it does wake. I don't own an SD-like Windows machine anymore, but I heavily suspect that these problems will endure.
The SD sleep mode has been essentially perfect for me. The battery does deplete, but it is always predictable and a much slower process in general. Sleep mode has made it far more likely that I will play certain games.
My steam deck: what is my purpose ?

I'm a father and a PC gamer. Steamdeck has become a necessity for gamer like me. I dont have to be in front of my PC all the time to enjoy my steam games. Most games runs natively on steamdeck without any issue. But when a game which is too much to handle for steam deck, i.e MFS2020, i Moonlight remote stream it from my couch or late night on bed.
Its PC2 we all wanted!
I'm gonna be honest, I don't think the tech for handheld PCs is quite there yet. I plan on getting one eventually but for now I'm gonna hold off. Maybe in another couple of generations the handheld market will have completely ironed out the bugs and improved the power to price ratio and will actually make more sense then.
I own virtually all the major handhelds and I still comeback to the SD due to its UI, compatibility and ease of use with the OS.
I bought the 64g on sale and bought a $100 1tb. For under $400 (before tax) i think its totally worth it even if you dont get the oled model. Still $250 cheapest that the cheapest oled.
I am the only person i know with a deck. I dont use mine. Not sure how big it is in the UK. Hope it keeps the momentum.
I still don't play as much as I'd like (damn choice paralysis) but I sure don't regret one cent spent on my SD: this machine is incredible and more than that: Steam rocks when it comes to support. They do the extra thousand miles.
While I'm happy to see more competition, I know that no other company provides the same support (and allows users to customize their gear, with guides on how to do it, day one partnerships with ifixit and other third parties).
So right now, the only thing I'm really waiting for is: New steam controllers.
Then maybe in a year or two a new upgraded SD with better everything inside ? I would definitely pay for that.

I don't really think that the main selling factor of the Deck is Steam itself, seeing as you essentially can install a Steam Client anywhere, but rather getting getting an affordable well working package with likely long time support. It's probably also the reason Steam hasn't introduced a more powerful device already; As Nintendo keeps demonstrating, its not about raw power, but what experience you can get from a device at the end of the day. So buying a console you know you can enjoy for years on end, might actually be the most compelling aspect.
I think the steam deck is better because of the touch pads, I got addicted to those on my steam controller, so I plan on getting one eveni

It’s really easy to judge the success of a product, I always ask myself “would I buy a steam deck 2” the answer is in a heartbeat.
I have an ally and deck but I can’t say the same for the ally… I would absolutely have to wait for reviews of an ally 2, I would have to seriously consider if I want to give my money to Asus, but with the steam deck 2 I would be first in line. Says a lot to me honestly, the confidence I have in valve not messing up is incredibly high thanks to their track record.

What's happening with mods on the Steam Deck is really exciting. All of this infrastructure should be in place by the time that a Linux build of the desktop OS is ready for it's debut.

As a owner of a steam deck I can say that I coudn’t be happier with my purchase!
My deck OLED with HDR games are better than any monitor I ownnnnn 😂 so recently I was playing hellblade 1 and HDR was better than seeing it in 4K since HDR is so good in that game
THe only down side (big time) of steam deck IMO is that when you try to play docked on TV the quality SUCKS so much, cause the console can't push good grafics. I had to play the same game (baldurs gate) on my XBOX (donthave PC) cause it really sucks to play it on the TV with steam deck

I was really torn on what handheld to buy and I think this video helped me out. I've watched multiple videos on the comparisons between the Rog alley extream vs lenovo go vs steam deck oled and i think im going steam deck oled. Yeah the Rog Alley is great but it has its issues and the sd card issue putbit as a no go. The x is coming out but its gonna be 799+ and thats too much in my opinion. They say they are going to fix the issues from the past but ill wait to seebif someone tests that.
Without watching the video, I’m going to guess why the SteamDeck is so successful.
Take a game that runs on both your favorite console, and is available in Steam on the SteamDeck. Boot the game on the console. Time how long it takes to get to actual game play. Repeat the process on the SteamDeck.
The MAIN job a console has… is done FASTER by the SteamDeck.
Console is stuck in front of a TV, SteamDeck is portable.
I can run full versions of a game and (in some cases) at higher resolution on a SteamDeck, even while plugged in to a TV.
The SteamDeck has a larger game library than ALL consoles… put together.
SteamDeck is less expensive.

I wanted to get a certified refurbished Deck but it is very difficult to get on unsupported countries it is a great value but it has it's problems getting it outside the US
I got my steam deck (new) in China, was $350 for the LCD 2 years ago. The new OLED 512gb goes for $450 now in China. If you live in Asia I'd suggest you try get one from there.
I refunded Forza 4. Too big of a game for the deck imo. Maybe in a few more years of tech advancement

@@MooMooTheWolf it all depends on how much you expect. If you’re cool with like the guy in the video says, 30 fps and overall decent graphics then yea it’s not bad. I had mine to like 45 fps and max everything so it jittered often. That’s why I chose to refund. But however you see fit
