Yeah that is something that I respect about Oda. When Puddin said that Big Mom was 85 children I never thought that Oda would have come up with the design to every single one of them. It's just awesome.
I do like that about Oda's writing. It feels good to expand on things like that. It's probably that completionist in all of us.

The minister of "essence" refers to a flavoring method which I know is used in at least 2 ways. First, fruit essences are used to flavor some sparkling waters (LaCroix, San pelligrino, klarbrum, etc.) Without adding calories. In addion, some high end french restaurants uses essences to create intensely flavorful and specific flavored sauces. Essencing is accomplished as follows. Waste from a product, let's say orange pulp and rind, are superheated in a way that doesn't burn the waste, but rather in a way that releases the esters (an organic molecule type featuring an -O-C=OCH3 group)into a vapor. This vapor is the essence that it speaks of. All fruits are flavored with different esters combined with fructose and other sugars to create the known taste. Essence doesn't have the sugar so it tastes like the fruit (or other ingredient) without being sweet. Kinda cool I think

Essence island sounds to me like something that deals with every permutation and possible meaning of flavour, so, aesthetically and also maybe how foods taste, but more how they look and present, I would guess.

I am pretty sure that Milenge is just a misspelling of meringue. If you rearrange the 'i' and 'e' in Milenge and add a 'u' between the 'g' and 'e' then you would have Melingue. Also L's and R's can be interchangeable in the Japanese language so now you have Meringue.
I thought that it could've been melange at first. Since that island has a minister of "meh rin goo" (meringue: got to love Tekking and his attempts to pronounce unfamiliar words) then I went with the misspelling of meringue.
Melange is an actual thing. I even said it 9 MONTHS ago in Tekking's first vid.
I recommend you taste merengue. I used to eat it all the time when I was a little kid. But I don't think they might sell it at your local stores. My mom bought them at a bakery or whatever they sold bread
As a health nut ill tell you, milk is harder to digest due to how dense it is in protiens or whatever. The body has to simply exert more enzymes to break it all down. This is also why one gets tired from eating too much.
Meringue is not cookies with whipped cream, it’s whipped egg whites with lemon and sugar and stuff that’s baked and it’s really good

I think I know what flavor island is. We talk about there being 4 different flavors, sweet, sour, salt, and bitter. But there is fifth, and it is named after the Japanese word for it, umami. It is basically the basic flavor behind savory foods like meat and stuff.
There is a follow-up manga to SAO that delves a little more into what happened at each floor. I think it's called SAO Progressive or something like that.

the reason it seems to be called Milenge is because is that japanese-english pronunciation of "Milenge" (Mee-ren-ge) sounds like how americans call it Mer-ang. Its like lemon meringue (Mer-ang) pie.
I'd assume that Essence Island is a reference to flavoring. Like say vanilla extract, or orange, lemon, what have you. They do really love their cakes.
Meringue is pronounce "mah rayng" fyi, also it's nothing like whipped cream, it's a hard egg-based type thing that slows melts in your mouth. Kinda like a super soft jawbreaker or something.
