@Bradley G you're welcome! It took me a while to find a balance as well. I just recently had to redo the mounting position because the mount works sag over time. I realized that I used to much tape and put just a small piece inside of each piece and this accrual allowed me to tighten down the mount even more than wrapping the tape around the frame. Let me know how this works out for you!
@@JCCollinsRacing just to be clear, you’re saying I should just put some tape on the inside of each half of the mount instead of doing one big piece of tape around the entire thing?
@Bradley G yes! I learned the hard way that taping around the entire thing will not allow for the tight fit that you need. Too much tape actually hinders both halves to sit flush with one another and the shifter will slowly begin to sag over time. Sorry for such a late reply.

Appreciate the video but after looking at your solution and comparing the price of the Next Level Racing F-GT Lite foldable cockpit. I opted for the Next Level cockpit. It's a bit more expensive at 300 in comparison to your setup which was 265, I like the more robust built in option more. And this solution is the best available yet doesn't appear to be sturdy enough in the long run. Thank you.

I bought one FGT lite. But it wasn't good for my case. It's very nice to have multi driving positions and folding, and it's more sturdy. But the fgt lite is too big and heavy even when folded. Doesn't work with so limited space. And to unfold it it's a pain. Not too easy... didn't work for me so I returned to get a playseat challenge
Just wondering, any way to hack this thing to install a Thrustmaster HOTAS 4? I'm thinking of but a second one for the left side and buy some wooden pieces to connect the two sides together.
That is an excellent question... but I am not sure. I don't know much about flight sim controls and don't want to lead you in the wrong direction. I truly appreciate you watching my video! Let me know if you find/ make something that could work! I'm curious with what the solution will look like.
@Fate I am not sure what you mean by the lock on the shifter and wheel. Are you referring to the two plastic twist locks on the wheel and shifter? If you are, the way to release them is to push the down and rotate counter-clockwise at the same time. They will then pop up and you will be able to continue rotating counter-clockwise to loosen. I hope that this helps!
I am beyond pissed. Mine finally came today after about a month of waiting just to be given the wrong one. I ordered a left hand drive mount and was given a right.

@Thats Fresh I agree that this shifter mount is delicate. Mine definitely has a few stress cracks. I did not know about the Lowdown line of products. I just looked into them and I may have to give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion!!😁😁

@James R yes, it cracked while I was moving. I did not remove it from the Playseat Challenge while transporting it and it was crushed under some furniture while on the truck. It held up fairly well before then.
@@Comrade_Broski it was over a year. The only issue I had was the tape that I used to help it stay in place needed to be replaced after about 6 months.

Could also have gotten the GT-Lite for $225...
