    In case you take this apart again or anyone else does, I found that instead of removing the big bolts it was easier to remove the two Allen screws attached to the black housing and pedal. Made it way easier when trying to compress the stiffer springs and fit them back.

      @@miguel.meizosono, you still need to remove the housing like at 10:38 . What I said just helps with removing the springs from the pedals. You don’t need to even put all of the screws back into the back plate when done. I found the outside ones are fine. The screws underneath the carpet gripper are difficult and aren’t needed to hold the housing together.

    Watched this video before I did my mod today and sure glad I did. Two tips (although Shaqdaddy's sounds best and I'd try that if I did another.) 1) No need to totally remove the clutch bolt. Just make the inside tip flush with the right "wall" to provide some room. 2) If you have a Dremel, use it to create rounded notches in the left side runner walls so the bolts can come out and go back in straight, rather than at all angle. Same for the Accelerator pedal. I Dremelled mine after I removed and the re-assembly was simple. Wish I'd have done it before removal. Great video! Thanks!

I found that Axs Sim makes a closed potentiometer and bought two of those. • @JCCollinsRacing
      @JCCollinsRacing 2 роки тому

      @Vítor Arbex thanks! The original rubber that is in the brake pedal is harder than normal rubber. It's really dense and when the brake is pressed, it does not feel natural. The original spring is soft, so the initial travel in the pedal is not progressive and hard to judge. With the rubber block being hard, there is a hard stop in the braking before the pedal is fully compressed. It makes judging braking distances and trail braking very difficult.

    Good video, saved me some time taking to out to many screws out. I've got the g923, so the break pedal has a different spring to the G29, it's more progressive and actually feels pretty good out the box. I added a 6mm mod piece to the clutch and a 10mm mod piece to the accelerator pedal, feels much more natural to me.
    I also added some very thick tape where the pedals pivot and touch the bottom of the metal base, reduces that loud metal on metal banging sound when the pedal reaches 100% and returns quickly to 0% positions, it reduces it to more of a thud, still makes a noise, but not as irritating as stock.

    • @JCCollinsRacing

      @00Clive00 thank you! I did not think to add some tape as a buffer for the pedals, that is a great idea to keep the sound to a minimum. I heard that 923 had an upgraded brake spring, and glad to hear that it is more progressive. How do you like the "True Force" (I think that's the name) ffb?

      I don't have experience with any other wheels and pedals, other than 18 years with real cars, ranging from Honda Jazz to BMW E36 M3. The g923 brake pedal feels very natural to me, definitely has a progressive feel, would compare it something like a VW golf, it's comfortable to use, but takes decent amount off pressure to hit 100%. Of course it won't compare to a the weight a race car needs or better SIM pedals, I did fit a 6mm mod piece in the brake pedal and tested it with my hand, decided to leave it out, I haven't used the playseat yet, but as I'll be able to stamp on the pedal more I might want the extra pressure and put it in.

I had a better experience with it in Forza horizon 4, it was much more subtle, like a bit of vibration whilst driving down a dirt road, it added to the experience, but not a good enough reason to upgrade or pay more for the g923 over the G29. I wonder if some of the clipping can be addressed with a more powerful power unit... You should check out my video, "5A = Better FFB???". It addresses the effects of more amperage to the G29/G923's ffb and clipping during sim-play. I tested a stronger power unit on AC, ACC, and F1 2021. There is noticeable difference in the ffb smoothness with reduced clipping. Check it our and let me know what you think.

    The installation is not so complicated with your instructions so great job.
    I have just one advice for the "beginners" that doesn't have a fixed simracing rig like me (I own the Playseat Challenge).
    Based on your experience, I purchased the Formula version still keeping the G29 original spring: I find this WAY too stiff! The Playseat is lifting off when I stomp on the brake to get to 100%😂
    Also, as I am playing with bare foots (only socks), my foot it's kinda hurting after little bit.
    I regret not having purchased the GT version (or maybe the Console one).
    Is someone using Playseat Challenge and any of 3Drap mod? What 3Drap version do you suggest?

    • @JCCollinsRacing
      @JCCollinsRacing 7 місяців тому +1

      @MatthewBS92 That is a really good point. The formula spring/elastomer combo is VERY stiff, and I
      noticed that I was pushing back in the PSC, too. It took a ton of tweeking, but I was able to find a happy medium with braking sensitivity in GHub. If you are on console and don't have a solid rig, I agree that the GT Elastomer is the better option. Thank you for highlighting this point!

    • @JCCollinsRacing
      @JCCollinsRacing 2 роки тому

      @Viper TD it is less stiff and is intended to be used in conjunction with a spring (soft or stiff) to allow for more brake travel and still provide a simulated progressive stiffness while being depressed. So, your keg should not hurt nearly as much. You will be able to gage your braking better and have more travel. This will put less pressure on your leg.

    I'm slightly confused. Why would we want to make it even harder to press🤔. This new mod although it improves the progressive feel of the brakes, it looks like it makes it even harder to press the pedal to 100 percent. So isn't it going to be inconvenient for hard racing in Sims like ACC where we're having to mash the brakes very often? Or is it easier with this mod to press it to 100 percent than with the stock setup?

    • @JCCollinsRacing
      @JCCollinsRacing 11 місяців тому +1

      Since the fell is more progressive, it feels more like real car where it is light in the beginning and stiffer as you compress it. The advantage is that the Sims brakes calibrations can be very sensitive and small inputs can make the sim think you are slamming on the brakes. Making it a bit harder to press will helps to modulate how sensitive the brake feels. Even with assisting your brake pressure and sensitivity in the sim, the G29 feels to light and has a hard stop with the stock setup, preventing you from getting the full breaking potential. This mod allows you to unlock the full potential.

      @@JCCollinsRacing I see...thanks for the reply.
      I think these mods are better suited if it's fixed on a rig rather than the floor so that we could use our force.
      I currently have mine placed against a wall (the back of my desk) but still, if I use all of my force to get to that 100% brake, it moves my desk slightly after a couple of laps 😅. Which is why I thought it would be inconvenient if it was even harder. Overall my braking is just not consistent with the stock setup.
      I saw some people just remove the stock rubber and presumably it makes it easier to press. But it may feel kinda off since Logitech has given a custom curve for the brake, intended to go along with the stock rubber. Any way we could program it to a linear curve would be nice.

      @@vulcan1449 that is true that the mod works better when on a rig, but it still works really good if you are using something like the Playseat Challenge.

      @JCCollinsRacing Рік тому

      @Timoxa have you installed a stiffer spring with it? The damper may not be allowing the brake to travel the full distance. Originally, I had to redo putting the damper in the spring because it was getting kinked inside the spring. Also, ensure that you removed any black preload dampers that may or may not be inside the brake pedal. With the yellow damper in place, you will not need the black one.

    • @JCCollinsRacing
      @JCCollinsRacing Рік тому

      @Timoxa also, are you using G-Hub? You may have to recalibrate the brake pedal since the travel has changed.

    Couldn't you just take off the pedal and unscrew the top where the black part meets the pedal? Save you taking the bottom off.

    • @JCCollinsRacing
      @JCCollinsRacing Рік тому

      Unfortunately, no. In order to get that black portion off, you have to unscrew the bottom. The black portion is one large piece that is directly connected to the bottom.

    Just bought a G920 and the brake pedal must off been designed by someone who hasn't ever used a brake pedal, the mods to correct cost about 10% of what I paid for the whole set up so I just set the clutch for left foot braking, if I would of known that the brake was useless I wouldn't of bought the gear shifter lol.
