Corinna, Happy Sunday. You have made my day with this one. My grandmother made a you and me set. I wore mine until I out grew it. Then after gran passed away I found the match. I wore her poncho until it fell apart. 😢 day. But now I can make a new one. Tyty
I texted this one to myself. It’s something I will use. Right from my era! 😊 I only wish my work was as beautiful & pristine as yours. Thank you Corinna.
Did anyone got confused on the row with 7 loops(CH7)? I had fun following her until the end of that row(row 5 or 6)! She started w/3 shells(3TC-3DC-3TC), CH7.....(repeat).... and end w/3TC-3DC shells, then Slip Stitch into the top of the 1st TC of the beginning shell. That's total 7 shells(3 at begin & 2 at the end!). She said 7 loops and 3 shells in between. But, I counted 7 loops, 6 of 3shells and 1 of 5 shells!??? So, what went wrong?
Same here. She had the right amount, but when you looked at her beginning work she had 3 shells and her ending had 2 shells, skipped a shell and slip stitched, but when she showed us the end she only had the 3 shells. How do we fix it?
I'm from UK and use US terms too, it seems more logical. I first learned to make granny squares in the late 60s, no pattern, my aunt showed me. My next effort was in the early 90's when I picked up a small booklet, thread and hook in a pack from a book shop, I learned but didn't do much. It was when I got access to the Internet that things took off. There were far more American patterns online, so that's what I got used to. Currently I'm making a few things for my granddaughter, a dress, bolero and a blanket. Keeps me busy! Wish my eyes were better though 🤣
I can see this made in greens and browns to resemble pinecones for an autumn poncho, or maybe a variegated yarn with autumn colours. Very nice pattern!
I had a red yellow and brown one, super scratchy… but was nice because my grandma made it. She tried to teach me how to crochet nd knit. Not having it back then. Love this. Blessings
Looking at this . I was thinking how beautiful and unique of a shawl this would be if it was made with one side left open. I mean how cool would that be??? The pineapple was may mother favorite stitch she made a full queen sized spread with a fine yarn that went through 2 floods and it was a bad time as the last flood took it from me. I loved that. She put a LOT of time and money to make it and it was beautiful. So is this!!! Angora what a wearable! I had a knitted angora sweater my then mother in-law washed and dried. She was something special.... she knew.
Beautiful poncho! I love red heart soft yarn. It feels nice , has drape and is wonderful for wearables. I've made my daughter's and seniors many items with this yarn. Thank you for the amazing tutorials ❤
I like the poncho, I already know you're gonna look great in it! One thing I love about your videos has nothing to do with crochet. It always sounds like someone is typing in the background, and it reminds me of my mother when I was a child; she was an avid crocheter, as well as an excellent typist. I suppose the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but my point is that, for me, it makes your videos that much more comfortable and inviting. Thank you for all that you do.
Mmmmm...pineapples! 💕💕💕 Very nice! I'm thinking how pretty it would be in a rich warm brown or dark green. Excellent tutorial as usual. Looking forward to part two and your reveal. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Corinna... I'm enjoying your tutorial but did have trouble with your round 5.... the written pattern does not start with the 3 shells, and your video seems to alter from what is shown in the beginning of the round and what is shown at the end 😉 really had me confused 🤔 but looking forward to part 2
lol you totally read my mind! As we speak I was looking up 70's poncho patterns, so funny.😊❤ I'm making a granny square pattern (4 large squares) in dk green, turquoise, and golds/browns. I personally remember these color combinations 😸
Thank you again !!!! Just worked round 19 and it really looks so good and it's a lot of fun to make it. Your explanation are excellent and easy to fallow!!💗💗💗👌👌👌👌👍👍👍
Hello Corinna, here we are again, another stunning, vintage crocheting pattern from you lovely lady. Your work is beautiful. I really enjoy watching you.. thank you so much hunni ❤😊
hiya! i remember a childhood friend had a very similar poncho. the motif was diamonds. it was very elegant for the time. looking forward to seeing it completed. xoxo
I always think it's interesting how you make your slip knots it's so different from mine haha it's cool how everyone has their own way of doing the same things
So thankful I bought the pattern and can follow you along!! Round 5 gave me a headache! Lol I figured it out after reading and watching and using a highlighter!
Wow I am definitely going to have to make this! Hopefully I get my grandsons blanket done in time for his birthday even earlier than I can make this! Thank you for the wonderful tutorial much love
I finished the 4 vintage crochet fans I was working on and have started this poncho. I have completed the pineapple and am doing my homework I goofed somewhere on the loops for the base of the pineapple but frogged it and fudged it and it looks great so far. Thanks for walking (and talking) us through each of the rows. Sometimes I just listen and crochet as you instruct without having to watch. But other times I really need to see what the crazy instructions are saying. Thank you.
Hello I have now 🐸 this pattern out to the 1st row 5 x's now so I am throwing in the towel.i get 17 treble shells and 5 dc shells come up one short on row with chain on row 5 so either the pattern is wrong or there is something wrong in the st out
I think I found the issue! If you go to 17:02 and watch how the round starts and compare it to how it looks at the end of the round at 22:41 you'll notice a change seems to have been made where the beginning of the round actually starts with sc, large shell, sc, ch 7....if you start this way you'll get 7 chain links with 3 shells &increase in-between all around and end the round as instructed. Good luck
Ahhhhhh. Now I don’t feel so bad. I was about to throw it across the room. I’ve frogged it 4 times and every time I get to row 5, my shell count is off and I’m not symmetrical (even though my shell count for round 4 was dead on. I will be ripping row 5 out and try it with your suggested start. Hopefully it will work out. I really want to finish and wear this poncho
I found a new Red Heart yarn called 'Brushed'. It gives a halo to the yarn - nice a soft looking. Similar to the 'Dreamy' yarn. I bought the mink color. I am a plus-sized girl so I am going to try a 6.5 or 7mm hook. Does this pattern give you measurements of the finished project - chest size/width? My 'girls' would like to fit into this gorgeous pattern :)))
Thank you very very much for this wonderful pattern, I really have to work this :) ..can't wait to buy new yarn and just took wool from my stash. Please can you tell me your measurement from the neckline until the end of the pines ? thank you very much 🌺🌻🌼🌷🌼🌻🌺
I'm gonna have to make this one. Anyway, Corinna I hope you are doing well. Thank you for another awesome video, can't wait for part 2. Also, please don't take this in a creepy way, and I understand why you split the video, but I could listen to you for hours. Your calmness is infectious and soothing. Plus you have great humor. Have a wonderful day.
Lovely poncho Corinna! I hope I can start to crochet again…I have a pattern for a bedspread that uses pineapple stitch….I really want to make this but really can’t understand the directions….love ya ❤❤❤❤
Hi, love your work and I have started the poncho and I’m stuck on row 5 !! Row 4 all good as I have 5 increases and 17 shells. Row 5 I have 7 x 7 chains loops and after last loop I only have 4 chains something is wrong and I started it 5 times and same thing. Can you help please. Thank you
Hello this is my 2nd attempt at making the pineapple Pancho rolls 5 does not come out right i used st markers and counted like you said to but it does not work thank you and have a good day
Again a very nice pattern and a very well explained tutorial. How far down did you reach with just one ball of yarn? I think I am gonna pass on this one, stil enough on the list 😉 I already have a pinapple shawl my grandma did ages ago. Which color would you have used, if not white for the camera?
Is there a way to find out if you can size it up the neckline instead of doing 68 is there a multiple to make it bigger for the neck or is it only the one way of doing it?
It might be me. But I'm trying to make this along with you. I got to row 5, where we are working the 7 chains. You start out with 1 sc, then 1 full shell, 1inc shell,1 full shell, 1sc in the middle of the next shell and then chain 7. But at the end you are making more shells. So that leaves more then 3 shells in-between the chain 7 at the end. Help
I love pineapples and have tried twice to make this. I've had no problems till I get to the row with 7 chains of 7. Something isn't right by the end of the row and I can't finish it as you do in the tutorial. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
hello, now I've tried to crochet it several times, but no matter how many times I do what you do, I don't get the same as you before starting the pineapple. when I've made the 7 stitches and need seven of them, I don't have to both make the 3 triple and make 3 double stitches, so what do you want to do?
If you look at the written pattern, one of the sets of three shells between the ch 7, is not an increase. It's 3 of the triple crochet shells with the single crochets on the shells in between. I can't explain it well, but following the written pattern rather than the video for row 5 it works out correctly.
yes, we will go over that in part 2 , it's just a matter of adding more rows , as you ad rows it grown wider as well as longer, we will deff go over that :)
May I suggest a larger crotchet hook and a 5 weight yarn? That usually works for patterns that don't have multiple choices for sweater patterns for me. 😊
Nice !!! A favor please , can u show where along u went through a skein of yarn , like how far down the first got u to and then at the end how many u went yhrough i noticed it said 6 skeins , want to know how many so i can figure out yardage with another yarn and color change and size , sorry to be a pain, love Your Videos !!! Thank You ❤
Does anyone wear ponchos? I've seen them in fashion design but not in what people wear everyday. When I was young ponchos for little girls were popular in the 70s. Maybe they are worn mostly by kids.this pants on the model look like creased polyester pants from the 70s. Just before denim got popular.
Hi Corinna, hope you're having a great day. I know Ive mentioned to you several times about my little poncho with slits for the hands that I wore as a little girl in the 70's, & here you find this beautiful pattern. This will be gorgeous in the white. If I ever find my box of childhood things with that little poncho Im going to send you a picture. On mine the slits weren't open at the bottom, but I love this one you found, its like the grown up, beautiful version. Has anyone told you today that you're amazing, because you are! 🩷🤗 PS: I think you said this went up to a size 16, did it happen to have a pattern or changes you would need to do for a plus size(3X)? Since my traumatic brain injury I have a hard time straying away from specific things spelled out to follow. Ive finally gotten to where I am feeling that I can folliw written patterns. I credit you for helping me with that. Watching so many of your videos where you have to decipher these old patterns has made me want to stick with it more & try to follow written patterns. Thanks Corinna, you are a treasure. 🥰
Hi there! Just wanted to let you know i have been making this poncho with a hobby lobby 4 weight yarn and the i hook and it will definitely fit a 3x size with room to spare!!! Happy stitching!!! Bette
@bettejones75 thank you Bette, that helps me alot knowing this info. My Dad passed this summer so I'm just now getting back to this. I love how the majority if this community wants to help each other out by providing information & insight. 😊🩷
I am so sorry for your loss!!! I lost my dad 2 years ago and i hurt everyday. Crocheting helps to hide the pain, as i need to concentrate on what i am making. Corinna has the best videos! I haven't made them all yet, but i want to. I hope you heal from your loss, reach out to people, there are a lot of grief groups out there.
Hi Corinna- I would like your opinion: I have some beautiful sand colored yarn that I’d like to use to make this poncho, but it’s a 3 weight. 😞 I would gauge it. What is your opinion please? (If you have the time). If not I have the red heart soft in my Amazon cart in charcoal gray. Thank you ahead of time. 😢
@@justvintagecrochet that’s what I was wondering about. :(…I’ll use that yarn for a shawl and order the other. This is my first year in all my crochet years that I’ve made clothing. Thank you Corinna. I appreciate you taking the time.

It might be me. But I'm trying to make this along with you. I got to row 5, where we are working the 7 chains. You start out with 1 sc, then 1 full shell, 1inc shell,1 full shell, 1sc in the middle of the next shell and then chain 7. But at the end you are making more shells. So that leaves more then 3 shells in-between the chain 7 at the end. Help
If you wanted to increase this by one pineapple, how many starting chains would you need?
I love pineapples and have tried twice to make this. I've had no problems till I get to the row with 7 chains of 7. Something isn't right by the end of the row and I can't finish it as you do in the tutorial. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Would this work with fingering weight and a 3.5mm hook?
hello, now I've tried to crochet it several times, but no matter how many times I do what you do, I don't get the same as you before starting the pineapple. when I've made the 7 stitches and need seven of them, I don't have to both make the 3 triple and make 3 double stitches, so what do you want to do?
If you look at the written pattern, one of the sets of three shells between the ch 7, is not an increase. It's 3 of the triple crochet shells with the single crochets on the shells in between.
I can't explain it well, but following the written pattern rather than the video for row 5 it works out correctly.
how many more stitches do u add to get a bigger neck
Hi is there anyway this can be made larger as I'm a plus size lady and I'd love to make it for myself
yes, we will go over that in part 2 , it's just a matter of adding more rows , as you ad rows it grown wider as well as longer, we will deff go over that :)

Buena tarde tenga me podría decir cuántos motivos quedan en la primera vuelta porfa para poder realizarla 😊
That weight ( 3) will make it way too small and it wont fit over your head im afraid , thanks for reaching out :)
@@justvintagecrochet that’s what I was wondering about. :(…I’ll use that yarn for a shawl and order the other. This is my first year in all my crochet years that I’ve made clothing.
Thank you Corinna. I appreciate you taking the time.
Buena tarde me puede decir cuantos motivos tiene la primera vuelta porfa vor 😊
I've got to know; do you have a very noisy ceiling fan or is someone typing?
Why turn on the rows if it’s knit on the round?
Can you work this back and foth instead of rounds? I dont like things like this going over my head
what is the trouble thing .
