Sorry but I had to laugh at the typewriter impression part. While I'm old enough to be your mother (my way of saying you're not old) I can't help but think that there are many people closer to your son's age who have NO IDEA what a typewriter is 😂
As a younger person (16) I can assure you most of us know what typewriters are! Using them correctly may be a different story, though. 😸
@@joeyboy4827 no offense, but where I live, many might not know what they are. I still can't get over the fact they stopped teaching cursive writing in schools.
@@IDontSuckAtLifeakaJanis3975 It is strange! My great aunt taught me cursive when I was young, I believe she felt the same. I suppose I didn’t take location into account when it comes to typewriters.
Lol pleeezzzz tell me no that can't be true
Nvr seen one oh gads your right!
Dittos here.!!!
Just ordered the pattern. I love the colors you chose. I'll probably replace the ivory with a dark green. I was a teenager in the 70s. I don't remember many clothes that had hoods other than winter coats. But, I do remember granny square vests. Kids who had someone who crocheted had them. My grandmother use to make us crocheted slippers every few years for Christmas. I loved them. My sister and I would slide across the floors with them. Of course, our mom would yell at us. Telling us we would break our necks if we fell. Unfortunately, she passed away before she was able to teach me to crochet. I had planned to ask my parents if I could spend a few weeks with her. So, I could learn to can and crochet. But, she died before I had the chance. Luckily, I was able to teach myself from diagrams in a pattern book.
This coat is so gorgous!!! I have never made clothes yet, but I know that I will be making this. Imagine the coloured as, black, white and dark red. It would be to die for. Chef's kiss!!
Girl! Every time I watch your video, I end up with a new pattern on my To Do List.... I HAVE to make this in black and white....😮 😊❤
Dang it!!! Another one to save and do!!!!! lol I’ve got so many projects started and planned!!!!
Love this ❤
I’m a child of the 60s and my Nan crocheted a cream dress with matching red coat for me and my sister and along with our knee length white socks and patent leather shoes, we were the bees knees 😂
Love watching you crochet simply because it reminds me of so many great memories that perhaps I just wouldn’t recall.
Thank you ❤
Love that!
Sweetie you too stinkin cute in that jacket, bless your heart❤❤❤ you rule as I always say
Great, another thing to add to my list 😂
Corinna, you have the wonderful ability to make perfect sense out of something that would otherwise not be easy!! This tutorial was so easy to follow. I’m seriously considering making this coat as it would be perfect for winter in Florida. Now I need to decide my colors. I look forward to the next tutorial.
Thank you so much for that :)
Maybe it could of not mattered, in my family they are All knitters,no one crocheted at all. I was the only one who knew how crochet! I learnt in the 70’s, bc I had a baby and nurses, who were from Philippines❤️, taught me how to crochet, which I’m very happy that they did, they had alot of patience
Corrina. I found the most beautiful bookmark pattern. Its exactly what I was looking for, now I just have locate my cotton. Its the thick handicraft cotton, should be stiff enough, so no need to starch it!’
I love this! I grew up during the’70s so this brings back memories. I’m going to put it on my to do list. Thank you for taking the time to do this.🧶💝
Oh, you look gorgeous! 😊 Congrats on a perfect haircut, love it!
Thank you so much!!
So nice. I have so many peojects going.
But i love this
I am in L💓VE! I so wish I was that talented!
Hello,
That's soooo effing CUTE!!! . My TO-DO list just got bigger 😆😉, thanks Corinna 😁. Thank you for the tutorials.
Just watched the Christmas tree ornament. I loved it so imma make them. And I. Definitely making this too. You are the original and best my dear.
Yay! Thank you!
Oh my cheesy biscuits! I love these colors. I'm working on a Granny Pop Hoodie in a variegated greys yarn & want to do another one in these colors. Love this jacket/cardigan on you.
I love the way this looks!
I’m loving this! The colors you chose are gorgeous!
Very stylish 😊
Okay okay❤😂 thanks for showing me how to do this I'm about your size love the look of this jacket/sweater 😍
Ooh this is pretty.
Wow I love that jacket/cardigan! Great job Corinna ❤
I already like the thumbnail 👍 the colors are beautiful. And you were right, it fits you soo well!
Shoot. I love everything about this pattern. I would even choose the same colors. My problem is need a size 6 --8 . Bummer!.I'm not good enough to figure out how to cut the pattern down.
Ohhhhh my! 😍
Absolutely love this!!! I recently found this channel and I’m so glad I did as I love all things Vintage, especially from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Thank you for doing what you do. It’s be a shame for these wonderful patterns to be lost. ❤
Yay! Thank you!
woohoo! been waiting! ❤
WOW ❤
Hello from Sweden love it! ❤❤❤
Coolest pattern 😊 we're the same size!
I love this...looks wonderful on you
❤❤🥰👏👏👏from Argentina 🇦🇷
Simply Gorgeous, Corrina !!! You did a Wonderful job !!
Also, your hair looks great ! As someone who also has to wear wigs most of the time, I know that some seem to just not look right 'to us'. But, that short one looks classy on you ! It just takes some time to 'feel' some. They are Beautiful on you 💜
Thank you so much!!
This is so pretty. I wish it came in plus size
Ooh, girl, excited for this one! Beautiful work as always!❤
This is such a gorgeous sweater coat ❤ I love these colors you chose. I can’t wait to try this myself. Your tutorials are so amazing. Thank you for the time and effort you put into each one. I know the detailed explanations and samples of the stitches for each row are very time consuming for you, but they are so incredible helpful, especially for those of us that have difficulties reading patterns. Thanks again for all your extra efforts, they a verg much appreciated.
This is so beautiful Corinna. I love the colours you've chosen too. ❤
Oh my Corrina! Honestly, when the notice popped up for this turorial my first reaction was "wow, that's busy". But your fashion show immediately changed my mind! Almost got whiplash! 😂 And I've gotten my baby sisters thumbs up to make one for her - after her silk dragonfly stole! It will be very warm for cold winters with the way the shells are extended with rows of sc rather than just making tc for height. So, I will be buying your VERY REASONABLY priced pattern (so I can note the size and color choices she has approved for it) and watching every minute of your excellent as always tutorials. Do you normally wear size 12/14? That's the size my sister wears, but I think it should go up a size so she can wear it over winter clothes. What do you think?
(aside - your excellent imitation of a typewriter return reminded me of winning a typing contest on a manual typewriter in high school; still have the Lawton newspaper article somewhere)
Thank you so much! , and you can make this in more muted and similar to eachother colors to tone it down :)
Am I wrong in thinking that you really don't need to cut the black, your darker color, but just carry it up the side since you always seem to work it left to right and back every time? That'd give you a whole lot fewer ends to weave in that way too if I'm correct.
Hola...me gustaria hacerlo en talla grande XL...eso seria la 16?
No comprendo mucho la traduccion
Cuantos puntos necesito para talla XL...saludos desde Chile🇨🇱..muy bellos tus trabajos
Espero puedas ayudarme...gracias😊
You look beautiful in that jacket! Well done friend
Thank you so much!
This is adorable. I love it. My goal for next year is to work on garmet making, to move beyond scarves and wraps. I'm definitely saving these tutorials. This is just too cute.
My medi was red and black through the material, the red was a blue red, not an orange red. I was blonde and had a figure that I got whistled at! My long boots were black and went perfectly with my coat. I looked really good, I think??? I mo
I like that. And from the size and your wearing it, I think that if we larger people want to make that very size , may be able to wear it , just it won't be as oversized which is how I'd prefer. And it could be worked out a trim to make button holes and even putting a collar and cuffs on it. That would make it more to my liking but it's still pretty just the way you made it.
FYI I learned how to crochet in the late 1970's and I think the shell stitch was a very popular stitch. I wouldn't mind making this cardigan and to modify it with trim would be easy.
I want to do this in purples and black! I have some variegated yarn I'd like to work it in.
Oooo, my Corinna! What a perfect coat to do! I love the color changes (I will hate the tails later...), the scalloped design & of course the hoodie.
I am a fabulous plus-sized gal who has to have this. Instead of a 5mm hook I will be using a 7mm hook. I tried a 6mm but only gained 1/2" in length for the starting chain. With a 7mm I gained 1.5" (18" total). I also have twin triple D girls that need to fit as well so wish me luck! If it works out or not, I hope that I will remember to post the measurements of the final 70's throwback hoodie to help out others.
I have an awful time reading patterns. All of the words seem to mess up my brain. When u left us to do our size (Row 7), I froze. I was to have 22 shells but kept getting 23. I would back track, find that I either missed or skipped too many stitches, lol! I ripped it out 4 times! I went step by step by step alllll over again & *Bahboom* ! ....23 shells again! Well, I fudged it to equal 22 :)))
I sure wish that I could crochet faster to be able to wear this sooner :) But, after raiding my yarn stash...a trip to Walfart is required to top up what I already have. Yay!!! Yarn shopping for meeeeee!
EDIT: The colors that I chose are: Red Heart Denim Fleck - Color 1 (dark), Red Heart Tan (I think - no label) - Color 2 (Med), Red Heart Cream Fleck - Color 3 (light), & Red Heart Charcoal Grey - Color 4 (Darker). I couldn't get much more neutral than this (even tho I adore colors) but I wanted to be able to wear this with jeans...hence the blue. I guess a couple shades of grey, a light tan & white would be very neutral but I like the Denim blue & I had this on hand :)
Some people love shoes, my thing is sweaters,, can never hav enough.., This is absolutely gorgeous.. ❤ and looks great on you..
This coat is Funktabulous !!!!! she says rushing off to check her stash, comes back a little slower - I don't have Aran/worsted weight yarn = thats special stuff here in South Africa = our reasonably priced yarns are generally DK or Chunky. I just might need to drive to town tomorrow for some groceries, like a pack of lettuce and 10 balls of yarn 😇😇
Starting this now and want to order the belt and clips. I am exactly the same size as you and was wondering which size belt you ordered? Thanks!
I ordered large ( 31'-38') :)
Beautiful! Maybe try making it a bit longer.
Congrats on finishing this fun piece! This done in shades of grey, black and white would be so chic!
That’s what I was thinking too!
Question if someone wanted to make a plus size extrude X2/x3 how many stitches should they chain thank you I enjoy watching your videos. You do a beautiful 😍 ❤
I really don't know, I have never been good at sizing out patterns other than for like blankets and other non-wearables, I hope someone who is good at that sees this coment and can help, I am really sorry
Oh, that is groovy and fabulous!
Love the clips! Never seen them. What a neat thing to add to gifts I’ve made! Awesome and thanks ❤️👍🏻
Hey
I wore a medi coat in the 70’s a very long coat, can u make that?
I love my medi, it was very long and it would just long enough, that it went to boots tops!
Please please
You can make this coat as long as you want, I talk about that in part 3 that will be out on the 14th :)
Do you have any suggestions or recerence works you can give to a Plus size gal who simply has to have this coat? I am an experienced crocheted but I have no idea how to alter clothing patterns up sizes. 🙃😞
I don't really know how to alter clothing either , I am truly sorry, I hope someone who does know how sees this comment and can help better than i can
Hmmmm🤨🧐what about making this in a super plus size ( 22). How is that done?
I really don't know, I have never been good at sizing crochet wearables, I hope someone who is good at it will see this comment and offer some help, Im really am sorry
Just love your channel!! Can you reverse the colors light to dark?
You can do anything you want! I encourage it actually, I love the creativity ! :)
Got the pattern, can’t wait to get started 😊. Thank you 😊
Wonderful!
Absolutely beautiful! You have such a classy look! Thank you so much for sharing 😊😊😊
Stupid copyright laws! There should have been background music in the beginning, because while watching, all I could hear was that RuPaul classic "You Better Work." Maybe when you hit 100K subs, and I know you will, you could put the song on and show off the things you've made for yourself. As I've told you before, if you got it, flaunt it!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful pattern! I have a quick question- following the written pattern and video for row 7 (the increase row), I’m ending up with 22 shells and not 21. 😭😭 Do you have a stitch count for the black row (blo stitches) for the row previous? I’m wondering if I added an extra stitch somewhere, and that’s how 7 is getting messed up. Thanks!
I abdolutely love this! I couldn't make one large enough for myself 😔 but my bestie is a perfect size 12 and I just KNOW she is going to love this in pinks and blues
will it be itchy for acrylic kind of yarn? I am allergic to it, I would always go for 100% fine cotton to prevent allergies for my skin for any wearables... I love the pattern, very unique
U could of used navy blue instead of black, the blue would have looked perfectly, bc your mulberry has a blue in it, so the colors would have complemented each other!
But u chose black and thats perfectly fine. U r the owner of this cardigan,so u get to choose whatever color looks good on u!❤️💯❤️
I love it. I want to make it for my daughter, but I don't buy patterns. It is lovely though. A great vintage find.
Wow that is too cool! I remember my mother making my sister a mohair jacket with bobbles and a hood in bright blue in the late '70s (I dont remember her ever wearing it though),
Such a cool jacket! TY for posting. Looks great on you.
I’m from the 70’s, do u remember the midi coat? Loved mine ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I want to say how much I can relate to you and admire your passion in what you do! I love your channel and I’m about to follow along. ❤
I saw this at darkthirty and fell in love..... looks spectacular on you doll!!
Good morning when you show us the repeat on the pattern is there starting at first repeat cuz I'm getting confused with this cuz I don't took it out so many times and it's not coming out right at the end can you explain that part of a little more about the repeat when you show us the pattern
You look stunning Corinna ❤ beautiful project!!!
Love your voice, and how well you explain everything. Your videos are a pleasure to watch.
I LOVE this coat!!! What would you suggest for a size 20?
I love, love this. Oh something to add to my growing list of projects lol.
I can’t wait to see how this all pulls together ❤ I kinda want to make it with two colors lol but I really like the colors all together too
Beautiful! I would make if I could figure out how to make it larger.
I think the size 16 pattern is incorrect. Has anyone else tried size 16?
Love This!! So many things to make, only 2 hands 😂
wait, this but in spooky halloween colors :O
I think I’ve said this before but you are my favorite crochet artist. This jacket is drop dead gorgeous. I’m tempted to use the same colors. I’m a size 16-18. Should I just go up a hook or two?
You’re such a beautiful person. Love your soothing voice, hands are so pretty and just a sweet sweet person. I saw you live in AZ!! I’m from Mesa. Sure do miss it there. There’s something magical about the desert.
Oh, Thank you so much for that :)

Ok I’m only 2 minutes in and yes ma’am🔥🔥🔥 the panache ma’am. Love the boots look… just missing 2 6 shooters on each hip. This wrap/jacket is beautiful and perfect. Can’t wait to dive into this one. Appreciate you 🧡
🤭
Cannot wait to watch this one! I have a lot of solids that would be perfect for this project.
I love your colour choices! They suit you very well indeed! Thanks for bringing us another wonderful pattern. I might have to give this one a go -- once I have a few other projects off my WIP list!
Oh, I'm def making this, beautiful
You can also put a zipper in that and then you could zip it up but yeah this coat is pretty cute
completely unrelated to the project, which, by the way, fabulous!!
you have the cutest darn little figure! and that hair! girl it's awesome!
Oh thank you!
What a beautiful coat and you look fabulous in it! I just wanted to let you know that I don't crochet all that much, I am primarily a knitter (and knitting a sweater as I watch your videos), but I have binged your channels because of your beautiful and sparkly personality, your enthusiasm for your art, and I have learned so much on how to read a crochet pattern. I also think it's so lovely your son helps you out on the mystery patterns. I'd love to know if he has any knowledge in crochet in order to black out the work etc.
Oh wow, thank you so much for all of that 🥰
You should get a 8 cylinder love your videos
I wasn't optimistic about this one. After your fashion show, i love this jacket and your color choices. You look wonderful in your jacket.
Thank you so much!
Darn right I scooped up that pattern from you! You make it look great.
And that Karen hair is the bomb!❤️
Oh thank you!
Beautiful sweater. I can see why you like it. It looks beautiful on you. 😊
This looks like a great idea for something to make for my mom this Christmas. Just hoping I somehow manage to get the other projects done in time too! We'll see. 🤷♀️😍
How are you so fast 😳 you’re working so hard for us 😅
Wonderful. Thank you for sharing it!!
Love this cardigan.
