I can only imagine being stationed in Iraq at that time and listening to these cats play this version of My Heart Belongs To Daddy. I'm crying my eyes out just thinking about it. Thank you for your service!
that's such a cool beat he comes up with for the second tune in this medley, starting at 9:50, and eventually returning to the original beat pattern at 18:00. I think Haynes recorded most in the 60s. First tune here is title track of Metheny album Haynes played on in 89. Pat once said RH is best drummer for doing something creative in every bar. I didn't care for 'live in studio' Q&A album til I listened primarily to the drums: then the entire album seemed like a 60minute drum solo or something. RH's got style on the hi-hat, ride, and...everything really
Yes Sir, I remember real well from your Birds Of A Feather Tour at NJPAC with Roy Hargrove...We All applauded with a outstanding ovation...yes Sir Mr. Haynes you turn it out
So underated. People are lost and this song will get you to any mental destination of love and happiness. Still studying Mr Martin seventeen years later.
Roy will make anything and anyone jazz. His drumming to me, is the real deal. It's like every era rolled up into one.
"Snap Crackle" - one of THE finest jazz drummers ever!
This was part of my decompression music while deployed to Iraq in 2006-2007. Absolutely love this.
That's some testimonial!

@@hshlom it is an honor. I shared that because I love different genres of music. This music took me away for a while back then. Still love it.

I really love the way Roy Haynes PLAYS the music :)
Roy Haynes is a legend. The whole band is awesome. Martin Bejerano is an exceptional pianist. Hopefully we will hear more from him.

My all time favorite jazz drummer without doubt
roy haynes was 80 years old in that time..
Tastiest swingenest coolest drummer of all time
Personnel, and Roy Haynes picks great ones! - Martin Bejerano, piano; Marcus Strickland, soprano sax; John Sullivan, bass
Roy Haynes. No other light touch would have so much energy.
Exactly , it has a lot of Buddy Rich ‘style’ to his playing. This is a great rendition of the track.
@@duncanmaclaren7091hipper more organic and Tao ☯️ than Rich
That's exactly right every pianists dream drummer
Speed king proof. Who is the sax player ? very melodic, soft and accurate playing: got it: Marcus Strickland; very nice.
I bought the Q & A album when it came out, recording was done the way it always used to be done, all live
Fantastic drummer!
