- Super Bowl LV in Tampa is off to a roaring start thanks to a rare trifecta flyover by the U.S. Air Force.
Just as Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan finished the Star Spangled Banner, three of the Air Force’s front-line bombers - a B-52 Stratofortress, a B1-B Lancer, and the B-2 Spirit ‘stealth’ bomber - cruised over Raymond James Stadium to help kick off the big game.
The large planes lumbered through the air at about 1,000 feet with a roar that was audible for miles around the stadium.
Each plane flew in from its own base - the B-52 from Minot AFB in North Dakota, the B-1B from Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota, and the B-2 from Whiteman AFB in Missouri - then met in formation in restricted airspace before the flyover.

@@Rsantana380 Still completely different things. All three of these bombers are strategic bombers while the A-10 is an attack aircraft as I said. Of course, the A-10 is a great aircraft but not a strategic bomber like the B-52, B-2, and B-1B. Plus, you started by comparing the A-10, an attack aircraft, to 3 strategic bombers.

The B1-B is the fastest and carries the most ordinance. It no longer carries thermonuclear weapons though. The B52 can carry cruise missiles with thermonuclear warheads but it cannot carry gravity nukes anymore. The B2 is the only bomber capable of carrying gravity nukes such as the B83.

Tampa has made history as far as hockey baseball and now the Superbowl in our own City and we win this is one of the best and I love seeing our freedom fly out of MacDill Air Force Base and right over the house and over to the stadium and back we have the goat and his best friend we have some of the most beautiful places now Treasure Island will try to change its name to Tompa Brady what a great game God bless peace be with you

I live near Tampa and saw this go right over my house. A B-2 stealth bomber right above your house isn't something you see every day

What's awesome is they flew in from across the nation, rendezvous over the gulf then made an on time flyover. From an article on it: "The B-1B Lancer takes off from Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. The B-2 Spirit is from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. The B-52 Stratofortress is based out of Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. All will be refueled mid-air by the KC-135 Stratotanker, which is based out of MacDill in Tampa."

Black exhaust trails from B-52 engines. Last B-52 was manufactured in 1962 about 60 years ago.
The black smoke is caused by the use of water in ejection giving the engines greater thrust at low speeds

Never have seen a stratofort or bone in the air, but saw the Spirit fly over the Salute to America in DC on 7-4-19. What a moment to behold. I love American air power. Over the years it has provided so much to so many.

I sat in a B52 cockpit back in 1981 at SAC Ellsworth AFB it looked complicated even back then for as old as it was.

Very nice video and footage of this flyover. At home with TV on, this flyover lasted less than 5 seconds of airtime. No close ups, no commentary, no props to the military. Doing the math, B-52, B-1, B-2 add up to 55, which equals Super Bowl #55 (LV). The broadcast of this USAF display fell way short of the mark. Total disrespectful of our military. Thumbs up to our armed forces, thumbs down our televised media

I live in hampton roads. We probably have one of the largest population of military bases in such a condensed area.. mostly airforce and navy. I see flyovers and air force practice flights on a regular....it never fails to be something worth filming. Yes they can fly really low and even shake your house when they fly over. Some areas in virginia beach near oceana have terrible jet noise issues. Residents complain about it constantly lol
