Hi Roman and Andre. Thank you for this excellent video. I just recently purchased a 2024 Santa Cruz Night Edition, which I absolutely love. One of Roman's comments immediately hit home when I heard it, as it is completely true in regards to why I purchased the Santa Cruz ( a point which so many car journalists miss completely ). Prior to my purchase, I was looking for a Lifestyle Vehicle, a crossover, yes, but NOT one I see in every one of my neighbor's driveways. I was not looking for a " big boy truck " , to quote Roman, but a smaller vehicle which gave me much of the same utility, while at the same time having a noticeable smaller footprint, which gives me awesome MPG and, relatively sporty performance (if you will), with the 2.5T and the DCT. I'm almost always in sport mode when I drive, with a silly grin on my face because this "adventure vehicle" will actually do 0 - 60 in 5.9 seconds. It fits my needs perfectly. Would be a shame if Tasman didn't eventually make it to our shores, with all the folks looking for a " bigger boy " than the Santa Cruz. Very best, and greetings from Oregon.
If the headlights were not in pods on the fenders and in a normal spot, the front end would look much better. The front end is my only dislike, and the car like interior with capacitive buttons.
I can squint and hide what I don’t care to see while also enhancing what I like of the looks. The interior looks great. Bring a manual/diesel and I’ll happily buy one :)
Loving that refreshed Ineos Grenadier … but seriously, I’m always a fan of Kia’s “out of the box” aesthetics, so I’m good with it, hoping it comes to the States.

The look is kinda growing on me! The problem though is that they're not offering a high output option, like everyone else in this segment. Kia has access to a V6 diesel and a 3.5L TT gas engine. They really need to put that on the menu to compete.
That would be great. Considering it is their first truck, I don't expect it to be perfect. The reclining rear seats in the crew cab are more innovative than all the other mid-sized trucks.
It looks like the designers were inspired by the Oshkosh M1070 and/or similar vehicles. It’s also giving old Soviet military vehicle vibes (e.g., the ZIL 131 6x6 and Ural-4320).
I just finished watching a couple of videos by CarExpert about the Australian Tasman release. It is an interesting truck with reclining rear seats. It may be a little ugly, but a truck doesn't need to be pretty. The square front fenders remind me of the original Land Rover.
I never understand why Hyundai didn't sell Stana Cruz here in Australia as we lose Holden, Ford sedan base utes, even Proton jumpbuck which did reasonable in sales. I think there's room for Australian n US markets with Stana Cruz n Tasman utes. Tasman has features that sets it apart from other mid size trucks.
In Australia, you guys get midsize pickups from almost every auto maker. Australia has a smaller population than in the US, which makes it kind of strange.
It appears to also be at the Tasmania auto show with modified fender flares. Makes it a bit better in the side profile but the headlights on the front fender flares are just asking to be bashed.
They put more of a telluride styled front end on it and drop their v6 in it along with the 2.5 turbo gas engine it would probably do pretty dam good in America with it.
I have been looking at the accessories for this thing on Car and Driver... and holy crap, they are gonna sell a ton of these. It looks to be very well designed and highly customizable. Based on KIA's improvements in/on reliability with the Telluride, Carnival, and smaller I would say it will also challenge with respect to reliability as well. Wish it had a slightly more robust engine but the diesel looks strong and this is still very exciting.
