If you ignore the front-end, this is still a generally well-considered development for a pickup truck. It is very practical in the areas where it counts most.
Agree. Unfortunately it is very difficult to ignore it and I am willing to bet sales will tell the same story. Thankfully, Kia and Hyundai usually have a 2 year refresh update. Hoping they will fix this because I believe the rest truly has potential.
@@henrygraterol Hopefully by the time they (maybe) bring it to the USA, the facelift will be out, kinks will be sorted, recalls will be addressed, and Stellanis and Ford will have crumbled so the Tasman can truly have its moment to shine in North America.
And they are waayy too small, going to need massive light bars and lots of "spotties" if your off roading at night. So if anyone has an accident off roading at night due to the "tiny" head lights, it's another class action lawsuit for kia. Asides from the kia boys and their engines going up in flames
This isn’t an off road car it’s more utility and like a maverick and Santa Cruz. “Lifestyle and utility “ prob affordability it’s going to ride nice in roads but not in trails. There’s already a market for full pick up off road and midsize trucks. They never said they were competing with that it’s common sense lol. It’s the same headlight as like a trd pro tundra. Yet ppl complain and whine. It’s not even as wide as other trucks. At that point you’re just a bad driver.
Idk, I love the aggressive look of the 24/25 i30 sedan/elantra N and nline from kia's counterpart. The veloster too, especially the first gen with it's big booty - the "bubble butt". Which of course, people found ugly, but the design of the second gen N isn't really ugly compared to the type R. Although the type r has had a facelift, just with they would ditch the centered 3 exhaust pie thing. The size of the lights are a concern, not only are they weird (they shrunk the lights from the sorrento and the ev9), but they would have poor lighting when off roading at night due to how small they are. The velo got an off road concept, but they gave it long light bars and enough "spotties". People here have also pointed out that they would get damaged with them on the side, instead of been brought more to the front. If anyone has an account because of the poor lighting when going on trails at night, kia will have more lawsuits on their backs
The only thing that i appreciate is the up position of the driver and the shortness of the hood which gives a very good visibility. Anything else is pure garbage.
This truck has the combination look of the Toyota Tundra and the Jeep Gladiator. Not the best choice for combination but it’s a Kia so I respect. It’s definitely a looker
@plaisbois951 that is still uglier then this. But this is the ugliest "ute" as we call them in Australia, since the cyber truck. Those lights also pose a danger when off roading at, because of the poor lighting cuased buy the lights being too small. Some people here have said that by being on the side instead of the front, they are going to get damaged when going on trails
A great Pick up, in a future dream, Kia based in Tasman plataform have in your models a Station Wagon or SUV for complete your offer . Sorry but dream is free, best regards from Santiago Chile
The newer isuzus after 2018 actually look ugly tbh. My mother has the 2018 pre face-lift and they look better then the current isuzus, but I'm tired of suvs🥱
Definitely, it is not a pick up for the guys and gals who like grandaddy's boring design. We will see how other pick up's exterior and interior design to evolve.
I'll see that ugly thing in Colombia, unless it comes with a diesel engine, because the president we have doesn't like hybridization or electrification, and I say he'll come to Colombia because maybe he won't be successful in sales in the world. 😅
@southkiddJ You are right. They will sell it to Aus made it for the country, not US. Because of FTA between US and Korea , US will impose more than 40% tax especially for pick up trucks.
Why don't just get the sorento front design and make it a mid size pick-up, for the full size one take the telluride's this thing is hedious in every angle... seriously who approves these designs??
I love the look but how can they maintain reliability with all Those electrics...I presume this will be a capable trick aimed at city folk or managers but not for workers...ie a weekend truck for those wanting to do some camping fishing...still any new truck to the market is a good thing as it pushes the others to try harder...
Yes, the front end is ugly imo. I think see elements of Rivian in the dashboard and on the side. Maybe some Hummer and Jeep elements as well. Otherwise, 😅 this rugged vehicle is ruined by that front end.
What's with the halfway fender flares? I'm no off-roader, but I thought the entire purpose of those was to reduce the dust, mud, and debris that flies up from the tires. What good is it if it's only directly above the tires? Can any off-road saavy person shed some light on this? Seems impractical to me.
All you sheep. If you’re a poseur, and love to grab a coffee at Starbucks with your fully loaded, polished Hilux that never goes off road, yeah, looks matter😂 these vehicles if used appropriately will get smashed so again, looks don’t matter. In this segment, all dual cabs look like crap. Performance matters, and if the Tasman kills it off road, then that’s what actually counts. Plus the competition doesn’t have a 7 year warranty. Kia has nailed the interior, which again matters more than the outside, because that’s where you spend your time driving. Not looking at your reflection in the shop windows😂 my only beef is that the headlights are in a vulnerable position, and I would have liked analog dials and heater/audio controls - if the dash goes on the blink, you can still use the important controls and info.
Current Soul driver here, but from a Chevy family. If and when this comes to America, it needs to sell me from a Colorado or 1500. The tech is nice but real American truck drivers want robust controls over shiny screens and software. This is after the functionality of the truck doing truck things.
Why used millimeters in the presentation. Use the centimeters would be better. The square body is too common and Kia makes it worst. The huge black plastic parts on top of the wheels are too big.
Because the land rover, jeep and land cruiser already have boxy styling. Also let's not forget the santa fe now has boxy styling, but nowhere near as ugly as the tasman
Kia made history with this truck. They managed to a make a vehicle 1000x better looking with camouflage than without it.
Lol😂 like how?
🤣🤣🤣
Looks are subjective pal, others see things differently
Exactly 🤣
❤❤ love this colour
They took the rugged design too far, that front ain’t right
I agree with you 💯
They shrunk the front lights from the sorrento and the ev9
Fr the front looks like an old dodge ram from temu
I don’t think design is that important. what is important today is price.

Jeep Gladiator’s not so handsome twin brother is in the building 😎

Looks horrible from the front and the wheel arches covers after an after thought 🤔 some one just stuck them on the car
It looks horrible yet u come to Africa and drive them feeling like Kings and queens
This is a better launch than they did in Australia, much more info and better presentation,
The headlights will be the first thing to get damaged offroad, what a stupid place to put them
It's just to be seamless to everything stupid in it, the entire vehicle.

No 16 inch rims
No electrification
